Abigail, Fatal Portrait, The Eye, Them, and Conspiracy are my favorite King Diamond albums. Andy La Roque is the most underrated guitarist in metal. His solos are awesome. All hail the King Of Horror!!!
King Diamond/Mercyful Fate are my favorite bands ever. I thought I was the only one not to rate “Them” as high as most people do, but our top 5, no, top 6 to be more precise is exactly the same. Nice to see Fatal Portrait getting some love. It’s criminally underrated in my opinion.
Abigail was simply the best concept metal album ever... "Them" was also excellent as is fatal portrait, don't break the oath. A massive span of greatness for the king.
Yep, I was surprised to see Graveyard as the last because I love that album and have there my personal favorite song of KD. Then came House of God which I was listening regularly for very long time and love too. I totally agree. And Abigail is indeed the jewel in the crown. Those 5 first albums, produced with Roberto Falcao (who, ironically, wasnt really a metal producer at all, aside from his work with KD) are simply perfect.
Without a doubt "Them" is my all time favorite , followed by Conspiracy , abigail , fatal portrait , the eye. After that you ranking is pretty much spot on .

Graveyard was the first King Diamond album I've listen to, and I absolutely love it! Heads on the wall is easily in my top 5 favourite songs of the King.
Nice ranking, I’m new to King Diamond after recently getting into Merciful fate and this is another band that has me thinking I’m been missing out for a long time.

It's time for tea. Weird coincidence, my Mother died, my Grandma was crazy from Alzheimer's & my dog's name was Missy. Started to smoke weed around then, haha! Great fucking album!
Mister for the first time i agree with all top 4 rankings..i would put Spider's Lullaby as my #5. You are spot on for the first 5 albums all being exceptional. The Eye is under rated in my opinion.😎
Your ranking is almost the same as mine. I would put Conspiracy above Fatal Portrait though. Conspiracy is my favorite KD album, but I agree objectively that Abigail is the best.
I would have bumped Conspiracy up to second place. Never really ventured past 1990 with King Diamond so got a good list of where to start now so thanks!
This is where we differ my man. But that’s fine. My favorite KD album is, in fact, The Graveyard. In fact, I have said for years that this album is perhaps the most underrated album in heavy metal history. There are so many stellar riffs on this album and the story is the creepiest for me. I think King Diamond, the man, is possibly the greatest musical genius in heavy metal history. That’s a big claim I know but he quite literally has never made a bad album with either Mercyful Fate or King Diamond and he also writes a good amount of the music and all of the lyrics. Simply amazing when you think about it. Cheers!
I remember, a friend of mine had a copy of the Graveyard on tape, I was 17 at the time, and I thought "Wow this is guy is amazing " and from then on I slowly collected all his albums up until the very last one, and I'm looking forward to his new album.
1- Abigail 2- Them 3- Conspiracy 4- Fatal Portrait 5- The Eye 6- Voodoo 7-The Spider's Lullaby 8- Abigail II 9- The Puppet Master 10- House of God 11- Give Me Your Soul Please 12- The Graveyard I never heard Give or even owned it, as it come out during my lean years. I had lost my first CD collection, and was very slowly replacing it.
Conspiracy was the first King Diamond I bought. Back then it was on cassette. I heard it on CD, but there is something about audio cassette quality that is just iconic. And that version will always remain the way I would prefer to listen to this album.
1."Them" 2. Abigail 3. The Eye 4. Conspiracy 5. Fatal Portrait 6. The Spider's Lullaby 7. The Puppet Master 8. House Of God 9. The Graveyard 10. Give Me Your Soul... Please 11. Voodoo 12. Abigail ll - The Revenge
my ranking: 1.fatal portrait 2.them 3.the eye 4.abigail 5.the spiders lullabye 6.Others are roughly the same rank The first album I bought was fatal portrait. It was very shocking
12: The Graveyard 11: Give Me Your Soul... Please! 10. House of God 9. Voodoo 8. Abigail II 7. The Puppet Master 6. Them 5. Fatal Portrait 4. The Eye 3. The Spider’s Lullabye 2. Conspiracy 1. Abigail
For me Them and Conspiracy are a double album. They were released so close together that I consider those one project. Yes it is my favorite and the greatest story King ever wrote in my opinion. In my top 5 albums of all time. Since King Diamond is my favorite singer I know the entire discography. But I cannot rank how great each one of them is. I love House of God know that. When I was younger I had virtually all king diamond albums on cassette or CD. I would make recordings for friends even strangers because I wanted as many folks as possible to know about the King.
more like a Them part 2. keep in kind during those days Bands released albums alot. his first 4 are his Best, But the later stuff is hit & miss. Like Puppet master & House of God for his later releases
Great ranking! As a fan of King Diamond since the very beginning, any ranking that doesn't have Fatal Portrait and Abigail in the top two positions is simply wrong.
I'm danish and for us the danish metalheads feel proud of Kim diamond and merciful fate. Actually my wife was raised in King diamond old neighbourhood ⚡🤘
Glad you placed Puppet master so high. That was the best album he did after Spider's Lulliby. I like The Spider's Lullaby a little bit more because it was a nice break from the total concept album thing. I wish King had done the Spider's Lullaby and Fatal Portrait thing a little more. The problem with some of the concept albums is that not enough of the tracks are strong enough to stand on their own and are only good in the context of the entire album.
Yes, Puppet Master might just be the album that I've listened the most to, because I listened to it every day when it came out. on repeat. haha Cheers!
Nice to see you nailed the top 5. I’d put the Eye at 5 but I couldn’t argue against 4. Between the first 4 close your eyes and pick one. Abigail has one of the best horror tales ever IMO. So descriptive, naturally flowing story, great musicianship. Mikkey Dee stands out on this album. His drumming seems to not only compliment the music. It tells the story in rhythmic fashion. My favorite is FP. I was fortunate to be turned on to Mercyful Fate as a preteen. King Diamond was a bigger part of my life than my father. I heard No presents on college radio and they mentioned FP and it’s release date. On the Tuesday when FP came out I was at the record store when it opened. I immediately asked about FP. No one knew what the hell I was talking about. Then a dude who was sorting a box of product pulled out the cassette. The only copy they had. With the sticker included. Musically I love the 123123123123 rhythm pattern on the guitar. Michael Denner may have played it on the album but that is King’s guitar style. Mikkey awesome as always. The only guy or woman to literally be forced into the Rock HOF with Motörhead. Timi love and miss him. FP may not be as focused as the next 4 but it is very special to me. I have to disagree on the Graveyard. By no means is it a great album. For me, his best song post Eye is Heads on the Wall. Obviously an homage to Alice. When that songs kicks in it’s balls out. I love it. Soul, Abigail 2, for me it’s flip a coin for last. I enjoy your rankings and your reasoning behind those decisions. Out of all these channels that rank metal I believe you are the person who has consistently made good arguments that support your opinion without being self righteous regardless whether I agree or not. Thank you!
The only three I'm not crazy about are The Graveyard, Abigail 2-The Revenge, and Give me Your Soul...Please. But, I would say my favourite is "Them", with Abigail a very, very close second.
First I must get the other King Diamond albums that I have not heard yet, but the ones I have in my iPhone which I will listen to in my car from time to time I just can’t put down. I probably have a few more years in my age to know which of them I would rank to my own preference and then if you agree with me, it’s really up to you, and maybe I shall do the same for Mercyful Fate as well, okay? Thanks for your efforts which I appreciate so far! All the best!
12. Give me your soul, please 11. Abigail 2 10. Graveyard 9. House of god 8. Voodoo 7. Spider's lullaby 6. Puppet master 5. THEM 4. Fatal portrait 3. Conspiracy 2. The eye 1. Abigail
I love early Mercyful Fate but can't stand King Diamond most of the time. Seen him a couple times live and the only time I get something of a pulse is when he palys Evil, A Dangerous Meeting and/or Come to the Sabbath.
I had heard from a friend. So I when to the music store, a stand, really. They had "Conspiracy" and "The eye" and I bought them both. Immediately became hooked. I bought what I could find, Mercyful fate too. "Time" was my first Mercyful fate album and I loved it. Then The "Spider's lullaby" came out and I loved it, then "The graveyard". "The graveyard" is my favorite album from King Diamond. I can't believe it gets so much hate.
I love King diamond. I had tickets to see him in Dallas, but wound up cancelling due to his throat issues. Then I found out he actually lives in TX and about a mile from me, I was shocked.
Definitely havent listened to the later ones much but Them Abigail Fatal Portrait Conspiracy The eye The puppet master Voodoo The spiders lullabye House of god Give me your soul pls Abigail II electric boogaloo The graveyard
My absolutely fav album from King Diamond is Fatal Portrait(also top 10 best metal albums ever made). 2: Conspiracy 3: Them/The Eye 4: Graveyard/Abigail 5: Spider's Lullabye 6: Voodoo 7: House of God 8: Abigail 2 The Revenge 9: The Puppet master 10: Give Me Your Soul...
Ah the King, love the man! I really dig House of God, i know it's one of the underdogs in KD's discography, but i dig the story and most songs are catchy as hell. The Puppet Master is nothing short of a masterpiece. Here's my rank: 1. Abigail 10/10 2. Them 9/10 3. The Puppet Master 9/10 4. House of God 8/10 5. Fatal Portrait 8/10 6. Conspiracy 8/10 7. The Eye 8/10 8. Abigail II: The Revenge 8/10 9. The Spider's Lullaby 7/10 10. Voodoo 6/10 11. Give me Your Soul... Please 6/10 12. The Graveyard 6/10
I forgot how big the King Diamond discography actually is. There's a few albums in there I just realized I've never even heard. Must remedy that immediately. All hail the King!
Good choices. I agree with most of your list. I also didn't care for the Graveyard album. I also think "the Eye" is very underrated. My top 2 are also Fatal Portrait & Abigail
I found out this weirdo of a musician quite semi-randomly.. Just a few days after the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia (which occurred on my 13th birthday in November 1989), "Sleepless Nights" aired on some Austrian radio during a break in an ongoing political discussion regarding the stuff going on in my homeland. Quite a symbolic & somewhat haunting pick by the guys at that radio, I have to say, as during those first days of the revolution, nothing about its outcome was really clear.. There was a constant fear of another "friendly help", like the one we got in late August of '68 - troops of half a million in strength from multiple 'friendly' countries of Warsaw Pact (led by Soviet Fucking Union, of course) invaded us and killed more than 100 of our citizens. Quite some help, wouldn't you say? Oh, and thumbs up for this list - I think it comes down to the "reshuffle the first 5 slots and most probably you get your own top-albums list" recurring theme again 😃
My top 5 is abigail, conspiracy, the eye, them and fatal portrait. I'm abit meh about the other albums. I had a strange experience listening to the spiders lullaby. I took a load of magic mushrooms and was seeing all kinds of demons in my parents fireplace ha ha. I believe snowy Shaw was injured that's why there's no real drums on the eye. Special shoutout to the bonus track Shrine from the abigail sessions. Maybe their heaviest ever track. Great video now get yourself a cup of tea
My list: 1. Abigail II: The Revenge 2. Abigail 3. Conspiracy 4. The Puppet Master 5. Voodoo 6. The Graveyard 7. Give Me Your Soul...Please 8. The Spiders Lullabye 9. The Eye 10. House Of God 11. Them 12. Fatal Portrait It may seem strange to someone that I regard the sequel for Abigail so high but for me that was the first King Diamond album that I have ever heard and got me into his work. But it is a really hard task to rank masterpiece after masterpiece. In my opinion he never released a weak record even those that are on the lower side of my preferences are absolutely great. Cheers from Hungary :)
King Diamonds run of early albums is as good as some of metals greats, Maiden, Priest, Sabbath, Metallica. Incredible band and as renown as they are, they should be bigger.
Your top 5 is solid. Them definitely is in the right spot at #5. For me Conspiracy, The Eye, and Fatal Portrait are interchangeable at 2-4, depending on the day and Abigail is absolutely #1
1. King Diamond 2. King Crimson 3. King Gizzard 4. King Charles 5. King Kong 6. Burger King 7. King Louis XIV 8. Los Angeles Kings 9. Kerry King 10. King Kerry 11. Jerry Springer 12. Don King 13. Donkey Kong
I love how each of Kings solo albums takes you on a journey through a horror story being a huge horror movie and metal fan it makes a perfect marriage for me. My fav is different from most people as it is Voodoo I mean just listen to Loa House or the title track. After that my ranking is along the classic lines.
I'd rank Graveyard and House of God a bit higher and Puppet Master and Voodoo a bit lower. But I'd roughly agree with your ranking. Definitely a tough ranking, King hasn't really made a bad album yet.
I love The Graveyard. I remember driving around with my friends listening to this album. It's definitely in the lower tier of King albums, but there is a strange sentimentality with this album. And Spider's lullabye is grossly underrated. Not just by King fans either. But King is among the most underrated metal bands of all time. And if King is underrated, Mercyful Fate is criminally underrated.
We can discuss the order of the Roadrunner era albums, and the order of the Metal Blade era, but Abigail is hands down the best album by King. It's a metal masterpiece.

it's still a good album. like most KD albums.
I think House of God deserves a way higher ranking. Great concept and solid album.
Yes, great album! Cheers!
I would have bumped Conspiracy up to second place. Never really ventured past 1990 with King Diamond so got a good list of where to start now so thanks!
yeah check out the puppet master! amazing record! Cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYT listening to it this very moment. It does not disappoint.
Cheers!
I still think it's a solid album but it can't comepte with his best. Cheers! 🤘
As far as metal geniuses go ... King Diamond is up there with Chuck Schuldiner from Death and Steve Harris from Iron Maiden ... Maybe Tommi Iomi too.
Great Video. Hail to the King!
🤘
Completely agree with your Top Three. They are indeed the best output under King's own name. I think you got the rest pretty much nailed too.
Cheers!
I remember, a friend of mine had a copy of the Graveyard on tape, I was 17 at the time, and I thought "Wow this is guy is amazing " and from then on I slowly collected all his albums up until the very last one, and I'm looking forward to his new album.
Same here, I hope they get it out soon. Cheers!

I never heard Give or even owned it, as it come out during my lean years.

Great listing. My top 5 are Conspiracy, Abigail, The Puppet Master, Them and The Eye. Now can someone get King to finally release The Institute?
it's time!
I would make recordings for friends even strangers because I wanted as many folks as possible to know about the King.
yeah pretty much, they are quite similar. Cheers!
more like a Them part 2. keep in kind during those days Bands released albums alot.
his first 4 are his Best, But the later stuff is hit & miss. Like Puppet master & House of God for his later releases
Both should be released as one single horror movie produced by Blumhouse.
@@mark_beastpriest5539 Yeah thats what ive always thought, well since 2003, ill be sure to mention that when i do my KD video
Great ranking!
As a fan of King Diamond since the very beginning, any ranking that doesn't have Fatal Portrait and Abigail in the top two positions is simply wrong.
conspiracy is pretty close in my opinion. ;)
I like very much your videos. 🤘⚡
Thank you! 🤘

@@RuthlessMetalYT I actually saw one King Diamond ranking where they placed the Puppet Master last and I was like "WTF!" lol
So fucking cool
King Diamond is good but still prefer Mercyful Fate (IF we have to compare for some reason 😋
Peak MF is perhaps slightly better. But there are perhaps a bigger quantity of great albums and songs from King Diamond.
However, it's really hard to decide which one is better. 'Don't Break The Oath' and 'Abigail' are some of my favs in metal generally.
Thank you for talking about KD. I've never been familiar with him/them. 🙂
You've missed one of the best bands that ever walked this earth then. ;)
Mikkey Dee helped make a difference, Dee greatly increases quality!
Thank you!
good stuff, thanks!
All the best!
check 'em out, it's pretty much the best stuff you'll ever hear.

The Graveyard is a cool album. :) Cheers!
All the 80s albums are dope but Spiders Lullaby and Puppet Master are really good to me too. Spiders Lullaby just needed a fuller sound
Conspiracy! And the songs you mentioned!
good stuff! 🤟
I love King diamond. I had tickets to see him in Dallas, but wound up cancelling due to his throat issues. Then I found out he actually lives in TX and about a mile from me, I was shocked.
Yeah he has been living in Texas for a long time. Cheers!

Andy's solo in Victimized might be my favorite solo he's ever done.

Good choices. I agree with most of your list. I also didn't care for the Graveyard album. I also think "the Eye" is very underrated. My top 2 are also Fatal Portrait & Abigail
🤘🤘
Oh, and thumbs up for this list - I think it comes down to the "reshuffle the first 5 slots and most probably you get your own top-albums list" recurring theme again 😃
haha, good music in the break there. that wouldnt happen today. haha Cheers!
Andy LaRocque is one of the most technical and melodic metal guitarrist...and a little underrated
yes, he is one of the greatest to ever do it.

It may seem strange to someone that I regard the sequel for Abigail so high but for me that was the first King Diamond album that I have ever heard and got me into his work. But it is a really hard task to rank masterpiece after masterpiece. In my opinion he never released a weak record even those that are on the lower side of my preferences are absolutely great. Cheers from Hungary :)

Abigail 2, Abigail and Fatal Portrait probably my favs in that order.

King Diamonds run of early albums is as good as some of metals greats, Maiden, Priest, Sabbath, Metallica. Incredible band and as renown as they are, they should be bigger.
Definitely or even better!
Your top 5 is solid. Them definitely is in the right spot at #5. For me Conspiracy, The Eye, and Fatal Portrait are interchangeable at 2-4, depending on the day and Abigail is absolutely #1

I love how each of Kings solo albums takes you on a journey through a horror story being a huge horror movie and metal fan it makes a perfect marriage for me. My fav is different from most people as it is Voodoo I mean just listen to Loa House or the title track. After that my ranking is along the classic lines.
Yes, King Diamond might just be my favourite artist. Incredible stories, incredible music.
I'd rank Graveyard and House of God a bit higher and Puppet Master and Voodoo a bit lower. But I'd roughly agree with your ranking. Definitely a tough ranking, King hasn't really made a bad album yet.
i agree with your adjustments
True, Cheers!
All of king and co albums are kick ass
I love The Graveyard. I remember driving around with my friends listening to this album. It's definitely in the lower tier of King albums, but there is a strange sentimentality with this album. And Spider's lullabye is grossly underrated. Not just by King fans either. But King is among the most underrated metal bands of all time. And if King is underrated, Mercyful Fate is criminally underrated.
We can discuss the order of the Roadrunner era albums, and the order of the Metal Blade era, but Abigail is hands down the best album by King. It's a metal masterpiece.
For sure, it's one of the best metal albums of all time. Cheers! 🤘
