HOLY CRAP! No band has ever been this REAL...just fucking magic...his voice is so low, the bass is insane, the back up vocals are the best, the drummer hits it.....the crowd, The Jam....at 54 I am now 18!
What a fantastic bass player Bruce Foxton is. I defy anyone to replicate his sound and not forgetting Rick too. Great period of my life following The Jam - happy memories. Cheers for posting this.
Yep, somewhere in the crowd is a 13 year old me, this night changed my life forever. Ive just had a book published called too high too far too soon, talks about all this sort of stuff..magic just pure fucking magic
i was on leave from the army and went to the Mohican scooter club meet as soon as i hit town. We all went to this event and was best time i had for next 5 years. loved it.
I was there, brings back great memories and great times. Also saw them at Bingley Hall, Stafford. Great shows. Great band. Im glad my youth was then and not now!!! - Thanks for posting great video!!!
You always knew it was a going to be a good gig when they opened with Strangetown. I have searched since 1982 to find another band anywhere near as good and I’m still looking 40 yrs later.

since Tubestation Weller has been incomparable. Fortunate enough to have seen him live with Foxton and Buckler in Guildford, London and the finale in Brighton, and am just as fortunate enough to be seeing him this week in Anaheim. It's been a long and incredible journey and one he has blessed us all with his passion, amazing lyrics and reality - cheers
This highlights the essential roles all 3 had in the band. A 3 piece can't have passengers. Paul Weller's talents are often lauded but let's not forget Buckler is a superb drummer and Foxton's (my favourite bass player) vocals were essential to the Jam sound.
I know Im randomly asking but does someone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot the password. I love any help you can give me!
@Thaddeus Logan i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I had the privilege of seeing the Jam live three times, twice in the long since demolished Leeds Queens Hall. This recording is brilliant thanks Midge for uploading. Exactly how I remember that tour.
Missed this gig sadly as my pal lived in Stafford so I would have somewhere to crash... but I got a ticket for later on in the year Dec 5th 1982... a night I will never forget!! The Jam today sound as fresh and as vibrant as they ever did. The mark of a true class band.
I was at the Port Talbot dates in March and November of 82 ... To a 14 year old the farewell tour seemed like almost the end of life itself! .... They were the BEST, you only have to watch this!
Was standing in front of the mixing desk with three mates. Never saw them for the rest of the night, absolutely brilliant gig! We found each other eventually at the end for the drive back to Manchester!
I could never watch the Jam in concert, only Paul in Brighton back in 1993, all i can do is everytime i visit London from Madrid to pray God allow me to see Paul by chance in Carnaby Street or meeting him crossing Abbey Road...
Was lucky enough to see them a good few times. Nothing like them before or since as far as I'm concerned. Have you thought about going to see From The Jam Thomas ?

Yeah I was there too! Trans Global Unity Express tour I think? Sort of knew they were gonna split though by the tracks they played - more of their older stuff than normal. Great Gig. I'd just had me hair cut in the same french crew cut when everyone else had the 'curtain' look off The Gift. Chuffed when Weller came out with the same cut - I thought I was dead cool - happy days!
When Paul left, where the fuck did he think he was going to find a better rhythm section than Rick and Bruce ? His 'stuff' after that, some of it pretty good, lacked the tightness and high energy of the Jam,which made them very special in my eyes,Sting did the very same with the Police.
thankQ u thankQ u? for this I once jumped from the rainbow balcony to get down the front I wouldn't cross the road now for him BUT they were GREAT once xx
This guy is so good at what he and with noel gallagher do together Steve Cradock also Was of Ocean Coloer Scene amazing now don't forget Steve White our drummer will have more epic times with this phenomenal band
One my 5 top favorite bands all time and I'm an American. The Jam never got any respect or airplay here and thier records were not in the shops except if you were in a big city like LA, New York or Chicago where I live. I still had to buy the import records from the UK and they were very expensive. 12 bucks or so in 1980. I still have them expect the 2nt record it sucks Saw them her in 82. Good stuff
Would love to get this on DVD..plus any other Jam gigs, I only saw them once, Dec 5th 1982 Wembley Arena .. I was almost 17 & remember it like yesterday.. still prob the best gig Ive ever been too.. if anyone has any info where I can get this and others on DVD please let me know,..many thanks in advance
That was a well-oiled machine. Matched by Cream. Saw the lads opening up for Sam and Dave during the pathetic Blues Brothers era. Don't get me wrong- I wouldn't have seen the lads if they had not opened for Sam & Dave..I had an edited copy of this on VHS. A sweet re-issue of this digitized would be lovely..
Some of the venues bands played in back then we’re literally falling down, I’m surprised there were not more safety incidents at gigs, such as crushing, fire and structures collapsing.
You are prob right. There is no doubting PW would of not 'made' it.. but The Jam would not of been The Jam without Steve Brookes, Bruce Foxton or Rick Buckler. All of them made The Jam the cracking band that they are/were..
For gods sake!for crying out loud!just bury the hatchet (not in eachothers heads might I add)Even if you could just do only 1 country wide tour,it would be fuckin' brilliant, and would make a shit load of loyal Jam fans the happiest humanly possible. The Jam live on always.I saw From The Jam a few months ago in Wakey.Dont get me wrong, they were great. But all I've thought about since is how mindblowingly better it could have been if Paul,Rick n Bruce made a go of it.They really were"the best band in the fuckin' world".
The Monkees were great, and two or three of them, particularly Mike Nesmith, wrote great songs. They should never be dismissed without a decent listen.
LOve the Jam but too many crap songs here! The gig didn't have a great deal of momentum either. I feel the crowd may have agreed with my view on the choice of songs. You lose atmosphere without the right choice, order and momentum I reckon.
HOLY CRAP! No band has ever been this REAL...just fucking magic...his voice is so low, the bass is insane, the back up vocals are the best, the drummer hits it.....the crowd, The Jam....at 54 I am now 18!
Nailed it.
We'll said my fellow Jam fanatic
The slngs

If you were 17 back then this was essential. What have they got now? Ed Sheeran?
I was literally 17 back then, and would have given my left nut to have been there.
'I Can Only Give You Everything' by 'Them'.
'Them' was an Belfast mod band, Van Morrison on lead vocals.

Best band ever bar none 🏴🏴
I love the Jam but The Who and Kinks were better

I think the general consensus at the time was they were “to English” to make it in America if that makes sense.

The Monkees were great, and two or three of them, particularly Mike Nesmith, wrote great songs. They should never be dismissed without a decent listen.
The Monkees were great but their best songs were not written by the band, they were created for a tv show
@bhudster10 not true. There are some real gems written by band members.
And this comes from a family of mods
Cockneys from Woking?
@SuperBiancos- 'them' maybe a worthy band, but lets face it- theyve got nothing on the jam have they ;)
That stupid silly flute and horn were unnecessary. It ruined the moment.
