Can't believe I hadn't seen or heard of this until now. Bob Weir with Primus? What a treat man. I'm a Grateful Dead freak and a Primus freak and I never dreamed I'd see Primus jamming Grateful Dead with Bob himself. They couldn't have picked a better song to jam too. Amazing combination. Wish there were more songs with Bob. Is there any? If so, I'd love to hear them. Thanks to the person who posted this.👍
That year was a REALLY good SCAMP. Lineup was insane. Drugs were pure. It didnt pick up on the video but Claypol6kept squeaking in a funny voice "Its Bob weir! Its bobby weir!" Cuz you could hear the voices echoing his name in the crowd. ITS WEIR ITS WEIR!! haha was truly an epic showing.
@@HoofHearted6 Sure did! It was my first Scamp, and Ioved it so much I went three more times. Those were the good ol days. Bobby was there on his own for the Bob Weir Acoustic Trio which was really amazing on its own and then him joining in for Primus was magic. Gogol Bordello went in with them for a while too if my distorted memory serves correctly lol
This is fantastic! What a great job Primus does covering this tune. Yea Jay Lane's is Bob's Rat Dog drummer. Probably one of the best covers of this song I ever heard. I just found out Les is a Deadhead watching another video and then I found this. AWESOME!
I hope y'all realize the drummer is Jay Lane. He's Bob's post-Dead drummer. Rat Dog drummer for 17 years. Les and Ler are on outside here. Not a Dead fan, but love this. :) Thank you for posting :)
how can you be "not a dead fan"? are you just a contrarian? im suppusing you have either never listened to them or you are a closet dead fan that wants to be edgy by disagreeing with the consensus that theyre the BEST BAND EVER
I know. I got a new phone 📱 almost four weeks ago. I can't turn it on /open it; whatever one is supposed to call it; so without Bobby "Ace" playing with someone, sitting in somewhere, touring someplace. He's become practically ubiquitous at the oldest age he's ever been [Yes, I do understand how the dimension we call time works on the temporal plane]. You go Bobby!!! Maybe there's still hope for all of us 😜 🙂😁.
At a Primus meet and greet I asked Les about this show. He said he wasn't a fan at first until Ler turned him on to the Dead. He was hooked since. Ler happily nodded in agreement with his statement
Bobby should slow down with the smack, sad he saw Jerry go through 25 year H addiction and never touched it. I ponder what force made him turn to the evil chemical, I think he is so sad and misses Jerry so much, that maybe it makes him feel closer to his best friend. Sadly it's working, if he keeps it up he will be right next to his best friend six feet under. 6 years clean from Heroin and I hate how much pain and misery it brings! I hate when peoplemsay that Heroins creativity has made so much great music, but that's the big deceit! Jimi, janis, kurt, Jerry they !are the music and somehow heroin took the credit! God that shit is powwrful And has an insane grasp on humanity! As someone who's been down the black much river, but decided to get up and fly again and raise to glory, the heroin does nothing to create, the heart and soul are the only two things in he world that can truly create and they are powered only by love and hate, I choose to create with love!!
You are tartard sauce.... it might suck if your a Primus fan, but other than that. This is the hot hot running around..... thanks for posting how bored yo tho

“And I’ll take Bob over Sasquatch anytime!”
-Claypool
Claypool paid proper homage to Lesh’s classic bassline, he played it with plenty of verve, lots of bombs, rocked it all the way through!!!
Nice vocab
Never heard the word verve before , thank you
Yes!
Never heard another MF who could play that bass line like Phil. Les rules!
Phil Les

He's definitely not playing it like Phil though.
Wooooo! Was there, and it was my bday, and we found tabs randomly, and just YES!
Little bit jealous lol. Bet you had an awesome time!

It doesn’t get any better than this🤟
Great to hear someone else is still here.

I've heard this a lot, but what other song are you referring too?
Les ('is more') Claypool !!
I've never seen this before. Outstanding work on the bass.
I was at the gate during this show. I'm only 5' 7, first Primus show. Nearly got trampled during this part of the show.
Worth it? Worth it!

I know now !! Thanks

Was is Jay that was also in Dead Weight?
Yes we're all well aware! Jay Lane played on the Primus album Green Naugahyde! Seen the Dead and Primus dozens of times!
Can you imagine being a dead fan at this show and not knowing this was coming?
What a god damn treat this is.
This is killer!!!!!! Thanks for posting! -Nordy
got here just 3 days after you. There's only one Bob Weir.
Primus + Bob Weir singing about Neal Cassady - what more could one want?
So interesting hearing Bob take the lead on this one
Bobby always lead The Other One
i was thinking the same thing! never heard him solo much. makes me wonder if some of the solos i've heard on bootlegs were actually him now and then
Ditto
Bobby wrote this song.
@@the_musiccellar yes, it is mind blowing how many Jer licks i love are actually Bobby...go figure.
My two favorites come crashing together
Forever Grateful...forever Dead..
Very worthwhile nugget in rock and roll history. I'm glad I stumbled into this. Thanks to taper and poster and great musicians.
😲 WOW! Great jam. Also no idea connection. Been on trip around sun 53 times✌️
How did I not know this existed until now? Killer!
Bob Weir
that's his name don't wear it out.
Les, Ler and Jay
I wish they would re create Primus/Bob Weir doing The Other One again
And he exits stage left while the mfing song still plays, like a badass. Bob is cool AF
I was there! I had no idea this video existed. Thanks for posting!
Awesome. Great fun. Adventure as the song is. release this show 😊👍🏽
Pretty sweet!
I’m so glad this has reached me
Damn it RUclips why did you take nine freaking years to put this in my recommended??
Same here!

Happy 82nd Birthday Phil!
For a minute there I thought Bobby forgot all the lyrics
Lol
They should have went into truckin
Ler and Les singing the backups!
WOW MAN very cool
holy f! love it.
Goddamn this was an amazing show. I fucking freaked out when he brought Bobby out!
Killer shit can't believe this is the first time I have heard this...
Well this was bound to happen...
Never knew Les was a fan of the Dead! Super cool!!
Les made a movie called Electric Apricot: Quest for Festeroo. If you're a Dead head or have been to a lot of festivals you'll probably be entertained.
He was a lot kid lol
At a Primus meet and greet I asked Les about this show. He said he wasn't a fan at first until Ler turned him on to the Dead. He was hooked since. Ler happily nodded in agreement with his statement
Fun fact. Les is wearing a dead shirt during the mtv gig where they dropped acid
There's an old performance of Primus before they hit it big at some radio station. Les has a GD shirt on there as well. 👍
That was badass
10:50 les excitedly struts towards bob to trade some bars, bob unplugs guitar and leaves without shaking any hands
That was a little disappointing.
I didn’t see any hands extended for a shake.
Bob wanted to go to bed I think!
Unrepentantly perfect.
Dayum!
Bob was twenty when he wrote this. He's 65 here?
WALST...
Also: Neal gets shit done.

Exactly my thoughts of the 04/24/84 version. Check it out, love to hear your thoughts!
I seen rush with primes now this is epic.
Les's. neck is consistently long enuff and strong enuff !
good shit hold on
Jerry Lalonde.
Nice!
Bobby should adopt an orphan telecaster - for summer
Bob was always uptight and cranky and it shows the way he left the stage.
"The Infamous Bob Weir"
I was there for that shit
Ler did a lil Jerry homage sick !!!
This is sick!
3 thumbs up
the one is where ou find it
If Bigfoot wore pedal pushers, I'd be tempted to say that Weir looks a bit Saquachian these days...
How many notes does Les open this with? Did I count 15?
Cassidy would be proud
More treble please…
3:40 hammeron oh other One _ 🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨
Les needs to do some cartoon or puppet (a la Muppets) voice acting
The shit
Some serious Nobody's fault but mine... hints
Surprised that the Bob Weir intro didn't get a bigger pop from the crowd. I figured there would be a bigger crossover there.
