- Nope!
No special pen is required to use Rite in the Rain. However, because our paper is water-resistant, you should take care to avoid water-based inks.
RECOMMENDED: Pencils, ballpoint pens, permanent markers, all-weather pens, pastels, crayons, colored pencils, etc.
NOT RECOMMENDED: gel pens, fountain pens, highlighters, watercolors, alcohol pens, copic markers, dry-erase markers, etc.
It can be difficult to tell what you can and can't use effectively on our paper, so give this video a watch in case you're uncertain.

Thanks for the no nonsense advice.
Thanks, hope this was useful for you.
Clear, concise, informative 👌🏾
I just got a write in the rain pen and note pad last night and I love it! It’s in my edc and in my pocket as I’m typing this right now! Thanks guys awesome product!
Pleased to hear that. Thank you. I hope we continue to serve you well.
Uniball Powertank pressurized pen works well also.
Yes. That's an example of another pen made for weather-resistance. The Tombow Airpress, Pilot Down-Force, and Uni Power Tank are the three competitors that come to mind. Of this selection, only Rite in the Rain pens are made in America.
Either I have a faulty Pilot Down Force or it doesn't work during an actual rain =P
Thank you for making this video!
I bought the notebook so i could sketch in the rain and in the bath/pool and it works great!
Just got my Rite in the Rain notepad & pens for work as a LEO, definitely needed it last week when it was sprinkling and I had to write someone’s info down
Bring back the 4x8 reporters notebook!
My personal favorite to write on RITR papers are the the oil-based ballpoint series pen made by O.B, in my mind they essentially has the same function as the RITR pen except for the fact that the O.B pen don't work that well when writing on papers that are immersed in water.
Nice! I've never come across these before. I'll have to order a sample. Thanks for the recommendation. Yep - for performance in damp, you'll need an RITR pen. The combination of a pressurized cartridge, viscous ink, and a textured ball all help to deliver ink through moisture and that combination is unique to our pens.
About those O.B. pens - which diameter do you recommend? I see there's a few different point sizes.
@@RiteintheRainVideo I recommend pen with 0.7mm diameter, which is neither thick nor thin. So I think if you're gonna give it a shot, 0.7mm can be your first choice.
For those wanting to know the best pen for RintR is a Bic Atlantis. You’re welcome. By the way RintR the orange pen yall sell for 20 bucks sucks. The notepad is great tho ill give u that
If you use an erasable pen your notes will disappear with time and I think heat
are you planning on having 8inch notebook? i got alot of "tacticool" sleeve for them, but tired of using normal paper notebook.
Please make a .38 pen!
Can you use a waterproof ink and fountain pen?
Does this paper work in laser printers? I just need to have some documents I scan and print outlive me. They are crucial so I want them to last as long as I live.
Absolutely! In fact, toner printers are the *only* printers that work with this paper. By the way, they sell 200 pack 8.5x11 loose leaf sheets specifically for toner printers right on their website. I highly recommend you check it out.
0:43 Jordan Belfort sell me this pen 😂
I use a lot of rite in the rain products. The blue /red ink smears if it gets wet unlike black ink
Does it work with Mont Blanc rollerball
Mont Blanc ink is typically water based and so will bead off the sheet. A standard Bic Ballpoint or any pencil works great. The best pens on RITR are the pressurized options.
What about oil based products??
@Springfield said that they should, I am actually going to hunt for some oil based pens just to test. Yeah 6 months belated, but hey :D
"Avoid water based inks on water based paper." Ommm 🧘♂
