I like the ruling, but I don't like that type of binding at all. I'm getting close to needing a new pocket notebook. I'm going to look for a staple bound version. Thanks for sharing.
Hey, you got one. I hated the writing on the covers too when I got mine, but the good news is it wears off completely. As for the spine, I have beaten the shit out of mine and it is folded, crinkled and bent and the spine is still completely solid and super tight. No loose pages whatsoever. I was worried about the spine when I initially bought mine, but trust me, don't worry about it. Mine has been through hell and is still like new, despite the haggard look of the thing.
@@journaljoy After you fill it all up you should do a video and let us know how well it held up for you. I like mine. And for the price and quality, it can't be beat. I payed triple for a Leuchtturm soft cover and I'm not impressed at all with it's quality. I just wish Rite In The Rain had the 6 inch version in black.
I bought the hardcover and really enjoyed it.however, it doesn't have a option for nonprofrated pages. I would recommend their products to anyone they have a variety of notebooks
I have used these for hiking and work (greenhouses get wet sometimes, and you always have something to write down), and Im going to start using them for Amateur Radio logbooks once I get my license.
A Field Notes review to compare would be great!
Hey! Welcome back 😀 we need more videos, I’m getting withdrawal symptoms due to lack of notebook reivews 😂👍🏻
Did you ever turn the blackwing slate notebook into your personal journal? If so, what are your thoughts?
Hi Michael! I'm actually using it for work right now. I'm about half way through and really enjoy it. It has held up great so far.

Muji has a series of notebooks with that type of ruling, perhaps not pocket size. Give it a look!
Rite in the Rain Universal No. 971-FXM is my go to staple bound.
Smaller than a wallet as well
