Most important commands for quick beats: Shift+last: adjust sequence length Shift+pad: quickly delete pattern(for independent PAD) Shift+voice:Chop + Mute group is here Shift+ copy: copy, duplicate, extend patterns Shift+write: SAVES EVERYTHING! Use usb/phone with koala to quickly bounce beats and samples to/from phone!
I've been on a lot since I filmed this video and have progressed quite a bit but yes, there are a lot of fiddly combinations to remember and I agree those menus are a bit messy! Thanks for watching man! 🙏
Thanks man! It’s actually making learning the devices a little faster I think. After this I just started filling the gaps with the manual and I was making beats relatively quickly
I really want to see Behringer throw down a portable sampler like this... I think they would do a great job and there is a major gap in the market for a compact portable sampler. I do like the idea of this but im not a bid fan of roland and all their menu diving. If I had to get a roland sampler id prob opt for the SP-404MKII I still have a Yamaha SU10 and SU200 which are great for messing about on. This roland p-6 does look interesting though and id love to learn more about it. Great video 🙂👍
The MK2 is definitely a little more robust than this, but this is quite a lot of fun. I've been playing with it a lot since filming this and its like a modernised SP 202. I will of course be doing more content on it in the coming weeks, showing how it all works 🙌
Do you know what really irks me about the P-6? In sampling mode, 'start' is used to set the length (ie the end point) of the sample, but 'end' is used to select the threshold to start sampling. It would have made much more sense if these were the other way round! I don't envy you going into this without a manual - that said, there are even things missing from the manual, which is pretty absurd
I’ve noticed that, it kinda grabs on to the start point and goes from there. I think on longer samples that’s actually useful but it was a little confusing at first! This device is definitely a bit fiddly. Spent time with it yesterday and I’m cooking beats now but i keep having to reference the manual
Why didn't anyone think to make a neat list of all the abbreviations and their interpretations from the Roland P6 screen It might help to understand. Think about it.
Hi! Trying to use the p6 without headsets plugged in the mix in but I don't understand how to. How can I hear any sound coming out off the p6 with it just being plugged to a laptop via USB? Thanks a lot!
You’d need to use something to receive the audio like a DAW for example so you can monitor the sound coming into the laptop. I use Ableton but there are free options like Audacity
If you were on a budget and looking for a hardware sampler would you buy a p-6? Or would you pay double for a Lofi12 xt? Is the XT worth the extra money?
Hard to say as I’ve not used the p6 much yet. the price point is impressive though. It’s very capable. The screen on the Lofi 12 does make certain tasks easier and means there are less button combos to remember
@@spvidz I love how the P-6 comes out and it changes the narrative on the Lofi 12 screen. After years of people slamming it for being too small, suddenly it’s easier to appreciate its capability.
Hi mate .. I keep editing my filter on one track I make and then when I start another track if I tweak the filter or anything else it changes the previous different track that I've made ... So tomme it seems like it effects all the samples globally.. is this right? Hope I make sense 🙏

Nice! I’ve pretty much picked all these up now that I’m using it but they are definitely good ones to learn for anyone else reading 👍
Thanks for the video! Hope to see more tutorials for the P6..
Definitely more coming! 👊
Shift End is how you increase sequence length on the t-8, i bet it's yhe same here. There are shortcuts for lots of the menu items on these rolands.
Yeah its SHIFT + LAST, or you can duplicate what's already in there with SHIFT + COPY and scroll to DUPL which makes the process a bit smoother.
Nice vid mate.. Sure a lot of things to learn, specially figure out what the display says 😅

Great series

@ I always see how far I get blind at first with most equipment, not reading the manual first
Mine is coming on Tuesday! 🎉
Awesome 👊

Hello professor, the update arrived V07, i don't understand anything with the stems !
Why didn't anyone think to make a neat list of all the
abbreviations and their interpretations from the Roland P6 screen
It might help to understand.
Think about it.

Yeah think they are global. Resample is your friend 👍
the USB outputs audio?
Yes in and out! The audio on this video was direct into Ableton
I just sold mine I hate but for the best
@@Bilpokat curious what you hated?
Yea if you don't know samplers there's a learning curve. I think it's great got such a tiny device.
