Personally I looked and looked for that, eventually watched this video, and after seeing your comment went to look again and still can't find where you are talking about. Even if you go to the "accessories" tab they only list the RC-N3 as an available controller, not even the RC-2 (you would think they would due to the price since it has the screen). As far as I'm concerned DJI is hiding it on purpose, if information like that is hard to find, it's hidden. This is a very DJI thing to do though, they never release backwards compatibility for older stuff until the new stuff has run it's initial sales period. If we get an O4 Air Unit I can almost guarantee it won't initially be compatible with the Goggles 2 or Integra, probably around Christmas or sometime next year they will then get a firmware update.
They have now after the firmware updates but at the time it wasn’t advertised, even the manual doesn’t advise they work and with so many people asking that’s why I tested to see if they do 👍
3:04 Hold on, the fly more combo also contains the charger. You don't want to charge 3 batteries one by one. So taking the base price of £170 + £70 batteries + £30 charger = £270 which only saves you £30 compared to the Fly More combo. Paying £30 extra for the controller is a steal since it's £105 when bought separately. If you really have no use for the controller it's still smarter to buy the Fly More combo and then flog the controller for £75 😅
It’s a gateway drug. At the price point and low barrier of entry you can buy it to use as an autonomous drone. Once you get more demanding in your use of the drone you can use the app or buy a controller. Once you have invested in controllers or FPV googles you can upgrade to a more powerful drone. For most people a grand and learning to fly is quite a barrier for entry it at less than £200 this is a nice start which you can then incrementally add to.
Exactly. This drone is pretty genius actually. It's competent (if not pro) at everything it does. It can fly itself, you can use it as fpv, it has a reasonable camera for the size, it's active track is pretty good, you can use it without controller, or with phone or controller, and it's very affordable. It's an entry into almost every class of drone DJI offer, so is appealing to all kinds of interested drone newbies.
Now they state you can use the RC", RC-N2 but it's only after the firmware update that they released a few hours ago. That being said for me (Switzerland) if you buy the base kit, add the charing hub and two batteries you are super close (like USD10) from the Combo price so I figured it might be a case where I want to be super light and only cary the RC-N3 as I would typically have my phone with me anyway so... I ordered the combo... let's see if I really end up using the RC-N3
I too was surprised to see that one saves very little when buying the drone with 3 batteries, the charging hub and no controller, vs the combo kit. People having a controller already will not have the incentive to not buy the combo. This doesn't show an ecological mind on DJI's end.
I like the design, I need a small simple to use drone that I can simply fly straight towards a building for a reveal shot. I don't really want to set up a controller and would prefer to use a phone. I always felt a bit scared using a bigger drone so didn't like using it and sold it pretty early on. This look fairly robust if I nock into something, and it hopefully wouldn't harm any property or people.

Also, I was browsing with a mobile device, so maybe the mobile site is different, but even if so that's still deceptive by DJI given how many people look at this stuff on mobile devices.
At launch it wasn’t advertised that the RC2 and N2 would work it’s as simple as that, not to mention the sheer number of people that didn’t realise as it wasn’t clear that’s who the video is for :)
stupid question; If I want to fly it without controller, how does it fly back to me. Lets say I tell it do the helix or spotlight program. It takes off from my hand. And it's filming away. Well if I want it to film for 5 or 10 mins...how does it know to stop and land with out the controller or app?
Could you report on the still photography aspects of it? I get that that's not the primary market for this drone - it's very much selfie/vlogger/FPV motion oriented, but apparently other than simple 12MP still shot, it has none of the other features like pano or spherical. I was going to pick one up this morning (Best Buy Canada have/had them in stock and I had one for pick up) then cancelled the order because of this as I do more spherical photography for VR than video.
I’m on the fence now, I have an rc-n1 if it had worked with that I think I’d have been more keen, for what looks like an identical controller on the outside..
Hi. First for all those vidéos not to mention your repository of dji fly app. I am bit Lost with allnthose RC concretely I have a brave old Mini2. Can I use my RC and nor buy the Néo combo ?
Let’s be honest, most people don’t use these quads at its highest potential. Forget the acrobatic FPV genre, this is DJi. They’ve always been consumer orientated. People want easy to use, easy to manage, easy to travel drones for everyday use. I think the Neo will easily kill off the avata and mini market. I can imagine me having so much fun with this. It has interesting features, able to fly manual❤, hell it’s more than enough for a lot of people. And the price, Jesus. Is the cherry on the cake!
Mine is turning up today, I did get the flymore combo, but I still think it's worth getting the controller with it because it is ocusync 4 😁 how comes you git yours on the same day did you go to there store 😁👌👍 🇬🇧
Haha magic ;) congrats on the purchase mate let me know how you get on with it, oh well yeah and it works with the air 3 / mini 4 pro so it’s good as a spare !
One thing you didn't mention, is that you can use your mobile as controller. Personally I don't like the look of the portrait style control interface so when I get the neo, I will probably use my RC-N2. But for anyone who doesn't have a compatible controller but wants to save money by not buying the combo, still has their phone in order to access some of the better features not accessible via the drone button interface. That said, from some of the reviews I've seen, I'm pretty excited about just how useful this drone is without any controller at all.
@@GAVINHR one real limitation of the phone as controller is range. So already having the RC-N2 will be a bonus. But cool that you can use your phone or even no controller at all depending on use. This seems to me a good general dogs body drone, though for any serious videography the camera isn't good enough. For that reason it's entry level only for someone wanting to get into drones for photography or videography beyond vlogging.
Here is something smart to do if u want this cheaper with 3 batteries and have a rc controller: buy the drone only you will get 1 battery and then just buy the 2 batteries separately this will add up to around £239 and if you have a usb c charger u can just charge the drone with the charger.
Then you need the charging hub too otherwise you can only charge the batteries one at a time whilst in the drone. Run through the batteries and recharge one at a time
I was also thinking RC2 could be used to control this micro drone. This drone really make sense even you have mini 4 pro because it can give you fpv feature.
Your comparative pricing is not correct. The combo kit also comes with the two=way charging hub. So if you add this to the cost of two batteries you pay 31 pounds for the controller. The stand alone version comes with spare props.
The charging hub makes things a bit more bulky and just another thing to carry to be honest and when the batteries can be charged in the drone and the hub only charges one at a time that’s why I didn’t factor it in.
One thing to notice tho is that the camera is... well kinda crap compared to the other drones in DjI's Lineup. We're talking MAvic 1 2018 levels of quality here. The "most versatile drone ever" is only that if you already own an Avata and Mini 4 Pro/Air 3 combo in your fleet with the £565 goggles 3 and the £99 motion controller or the £135 FPV controller. At that point, the question is... Do you need a Neo when you already have 2 drones that do a much better job at FPV and Stabilized shots? The M4P is already a magnificent travel companion drone with advanced tracking features and full obstacle avoidance. All the neo has to offer there is faster deployment. The Avata's camera nd flight performance is far superior to that of the Neo, so its only advantage here is to fly FPV in the Open category (That is until the CAA allows C1 drones in the open category) I don't even know if the RC N3 is compatible with the Mini 4Pro/Air3.... Which would make the upgrade to a Mini 4P path less desirable if you end up going Flymore.
if you want 3 batteries and the charging hub (that charges all 3 at the same time!) then it costs £297 if bought separate. the combo you pay £299 and you get the controller for £2 extra... its a no brainer
I'm hoping they start to sell the mini also without the remote -- I don't have a drone yet but keep thinking about buying one. This is a little easier to get into price wise but it would be nice to see the mini also with an option to buy i you already have a controller
Usually when people say they’re confused about who a product is aimed at, the product goes on to achieve massive sales. I remember people asking who the iPhone was aimed at and talking about its Jack-of-all-trades character.
This has great potential for a lot of sales. It's cheap, relatively easy to use, hard to break (can be used indoors), is targetted at selfie videos, scales up to more advanced features with multiple controller options and is a selfie drone AND a low end FPV drone. In fact, the only negatives are the loud prop noise, the lack of still photography features and that any FPV use adds US$200 (FPV controller) to US$600 (Goggles 3/MC 3) to the price.
Kinda guessed that tbh.. but I ordered the Flymore combo off Amazon today anyway. Looking forward to it coming on Saturday and comparing it to my Mini 4 Pro. For the price £299 was worth it in my eyes as a backup drone and with it being more compact too! Going to see how it manages the wind up on Sutton Bank near Thirsk on Sunday
@@GAVINHR got mine yesterday and I’ve had chance to fly it today. Wow! Wow! Wow! For the money it’s an absolute steal. Wind resistance isn’t anywhere as near as good as the Mini 4 Pro, but it’s really amazing for the size and weight! Worth every of the £299 for the kit without any doubt!
if u are getting the Nero and use an RC2 controller you already have, you probably have a min4 or air3 , just take the mini or air. you are not going to save that much space over the Neo and a controller.
@@GAVINHR, I bought the drone, a spare battery and the combo charger. I already have the rc screen controller that I use for my Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro. In Canada the flymore kit with the extra two batteries and the charger that charges all 3 batts at the same time, and the props and the controllers is about the same price as buying 2 extra batteries, props and the charger. I'll take the flymore with the free controller....
Ordered the fly more from amazon, coming Sat for me. Hi Gavin 👋🙂. Thank you so very much for the information on the DJI NEO drone. I'm going to get this drone one day when I can afford it. It's very impressive and is packed with features along with the remote control and extra batteries. Have a great week and God bless 🙏
I mean, I'm just glad to see some backward compatibly ... as for the drone, it seems like a great consumer drone for the price. A lot of people will be fine with this for vlogs or a foray into fpv. I hope they do something small like this next that has better color options and 60fps, but we'll see. I may just get this for some fun, regardless.
I guess as you pointed out, I still do not understand where it fits in their lineup if I have the controller for mini 4 That would indicate I have a mini 4 Any of the minis are more versatile and as small folded and still very light. So whey would I buy the Neo. Perhaps a gift for a child.
I see it as a bit of a holiday travel bit of kit I guess, ideal for that but that aside it does everything just not quite as good as the real thing, Jack of all trades master of none springs to mind

At launch it wasn’t advertised that the RC2 and N2 would work it’s as simple as that, not to mention the sheer number of people that didn’t realise as it wasn’t clear that’s who the video is for :)
@@GAVINHR it was a Zoolander reference fyi.
The only combos on the DJI site has either 1 battery or 3 batteries, charging hub, but no controller - at least in the US.
So it seems DJI are offering different packages based on location - odd move!
stupid question; If I want to fly it without controller, how does it fly back to me. Lets say I tell it do the helix or spotlight program. It takes off from my hand. And it's filming away. Well if I want it to film for 5 or 10 mins...how does it know to stop and land with out the controller or app?
The fly more combo is no longer available for me here in the usa. I bought the single drone only 😅
Could you report on the still photography aspects of it? I get that that's not the primary market for this drone - it's very much selfie/vlogger/FPV motion oriented, but apparently other than simple 12MP still shot, it has none of the other features like pano or spherical. I was going to pick one up this morning (Best Buy Canada have/had them in stock and I had one for pick up) then cancelled the order because of this as I do more spherical photography for VR than video.
How the fffff....flip did you manage to but it already when it could only be ordered today? (05/09/24)
Got to hustle ! Literally went to a large retailer to ask if they had one (not even on their website) and convinced them to sell me it
Nice one man! Well done!
I’m on the fence now, I have an rc-n1 if it had worked with that I think I’d have been more keen, for what looks like an identical controller on the outside..
My DJI store does say which controllers it works with
Hi! Can I fly in manual mode by RC2 (From Mini 4 pro)??
Yes, you can
Hi. First for all those vidéos not to mention your repository of dji fly app. I am bit Lost with allnthose RC concretely I have a brave old Mini2. Can I use my RC and nor buy the Néo combo ?
Hi there, sadly the Neo is only compatible with the updated RC2 that launched with the mini 4 pro
Question,I know the neo will work with the mini 4 pro controller but can I do waypoints.that is a deal breaker for me if it cannot do that.thank you😁🤠
Hi there, it cannot do waypoints unfortunately
Thank you for your quick response,I love your channel@@GAVINHR
One thing you didn't mention, is that you can use your mobile as controller. Personally I don't like the look of the portrait style control interface so when I get the neo, I will probably use my RC-N2. But for anyone who doesn't have a compatible controller but wants to save money by not buying the combo, still has their phone in order to access some of the better features not accessible via the drone button interface. That said, from some of the reviews I've seen, I'm pretty excited about just how useful this drone is without any controller at all.
If you check my follow up video that entire review is using app control :)
@@GAVINHR will do.
How about using mini2 controller? Maybe you might make a quick video where you test the controllers compatibility with the neo and bust DJI miths 😅
Mini 2 use the RC N1 and it's not supported.
@@GAVINHR I thought unlike other DJI battery packs, this one does charge up to 3 batteries simultaneously.
@JohnnyBouchier nope unless I have a broken one it charged one by one
@@GAVINHR if you use a 60 watt or above charger then the case charges all 3 at the same time , maybe you used a 30 watt charger on your first test ?
@uptowndisco2 used a 65w charger so that seems odd, I will try it again, thanks for the suggestion
The Avata's camera nd flight performance is far superior to that of the Neo, so its only advantage here is to fly FPV in the Open category (That is until the CAA allows C1 drones in the open category)
I don't even know if the RC N3 is compatible with the Mini 4Pro/Air3.... Which would make the upgrade to a Mini 4P path less desirable if you end up going Flymore.
I'm a bit annoyed that you need the controller to access the photo settings. I'll probably still get one though.
if you want 3 batteries and the charging hub (that charges all 3 at the same time!) then it costs £297 if bought separate. the combo you pay £299 and you get the controller for £2 extra... its a no brainer
What for real! Buying one tomorrow!
It’s a bargain really I must say, it does a lot for the money
@@GAVINHR got mine yesterday and I’ve had chance to fly it today. Wow! Wow! Wow! For the money it’s an absolute steal. Wind resistance isn’t anywhere as near as good as the Mini 4 Pro, but it’s really amazing for the size and weight! Worth every of the £299 for the kit without any doubt!
Thanks
Hope you will include dji motion controller and dji fpv controller with Neo in your next video
I thought you were going to talk about the pixilation of the image, which is the big turning off point for me!
👍🏽 you’re awesome. I finally got the answer. I was looking for. I wanted to know if I can use it with my display controller from DJI👍🏽ty
Great info… exactly what info I was looking…. I own a M4P and didn’t if my controller supported the Neo. Thanks!
Hey Gavin… I ordered one. You should be getting a commission…😂
if u are getting the Nero and use an RC2 controller you already have, you probably have a min4 or air3 , just take the mini or air. you are not going to save that much space over the Neo and a controller.
You nailed it Gav I have a mini 4 and controller so just got the drone on it’s own, a fun drone on the side
I bought the combo kinda because I have to review the full kit but yeah makes little sense, buy the drone only and a spare battery
@@GAVINHR, I bought the drone, a spare battery and the combo charger. I already have the rc screen controller that I use for my Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro. I think the Neo is a affordable, very portable and nice addition for making a quick shot mostly without the screen controller. But this can come in handy when needed. Greetings from 🇳🇱
I was thinking it might be good to learn manual flight.
How about RC-N1? Is it compatible? I have DJI Air2S that comes with DJI Rc-N1.
In Canada the flymore kit with the extra two batteries and the charger that charges all 3 batts at the same time, and the props and the controllers is about the same price as buying 2 extra batteries, props and the charger.
I'll take the flymore with the free controller....
I have the mini 3 pro with the rc n1… not compatible with new neo …. Incredible
Also there is no RC compatible for the mini 3 AND Neo…….. incredible bad!!!!
Ordered the fly more from amazon, coming Sat for me. Did not realise it wrks with RC2 but already seeing somoene selling the RC-N3 on Ebay with a bid of £60 so prob do that to keep the rest to use with my RC2 for less than sep selling price. Just a fun indoor/bounce off all drone for me, my M4P and M3C will do the heavy lifting still. Thanks for the info Gavin!
You can also fly it with your phone alone and still do the other features
Hi Gavin 👋🙂. Thank you so very much for the information on the DJI NEO drone.
I'm going to get this drone one day when I can afford it. It's very impressive and is packed with features along with the remote control and extra batteries.
Have a great week and God bless 🙏
does anybody know does receiver from mini 2 is compatible?
Sorry it will not work
Does the Dji RC that comes with the mini 3 also work with the neo or is it just the RC 2
No sadly only the rc2
It's a sub 250gm fpv drone that flies with my avata2 goggles and controller in areas I cannot use my Avata2
Waiting for larger batteries
I got it working too :-)
@@TECHDRONEMEDIA brilliant! Will make such a big difference to people ! Enjoyed your review ☺️
TLDR: Works with the controller from DJI Mini 4 Pro and Avata
the fact that there is so few shots FROM the drone on all these so called ‘reviews’ speaks volumes
I’m knee deep in editing but I’ll be posting some stock footage later 👍
The combo with rc isn't available in the US which is total BS. So, i have to get the fly more combo and then $130 more for a rcn3..
This is the info I've been searching for, cause my kid phone does not support DJI fly app ...
that's not true you can use the modes like spotlight without a controller!
nice one mate good to know about the controllers
You’re welcome mate!
