Love your straightforward style and how you don’t wax poetic about using the M system as if it’s some kind of otherworldly, mythical experience. Got my M Typ262 in May and have been extremely happy with it. I absolutely love zone-focusing/pre-focusing for my images when it comes to photographing mobile subjects and can’t recommend it enough. While anyone can slow down and be more intentional with any camera system, the M series just feels great and intuitive to use. Will most likely pick up a 240 after doing a few more gigs to have that 28mm/50mm cohesion for weddings/photojournalism. I come from the Nikon and Fujifilm systems and still love them a lot. This just hits a bit different and I’ve been enjoying my time figuring it all out. Great video!

Note that Leica's in-camera noise reduction tries to preserve details over smoothening the image. Japanese manufacturers implement the opposite. If you apply modern noise reduction programs such as DxO's deep prime or Topaz, you may be able to get even better results. Enjoyed your video, great images!

It's been a great camera. I still use mine regularly. The battery life has been my favorite part. I can spend an entire day (8 hrs +) walking and still have some battery at the end of the day.

It’s funny I watched a couple of your older videos and I also went from DSLR to Fuji and now also a digital Leica so a pretty similar history to you. Native DNG files is really nice. Do you ever use Live View? The 240 seems like it could be the ultimate platform for adapting film lenses with Live View.
the m240 has extreme green shadows in the 800-1000 iso range which caused me to upgrade to the m10. without that one issue i think it's just as good as the m10 or anything else on the market image wise.
@@ShawnPBruce i was just telling a friend about this yesterday. aside from the green shadow issue i think the only other upgrade from the m10 is the screen is brighter therefore somewhat more helpful in some regards but not all.. other than that if the m240 did not have the green shadow issue there is literally no reason to upgrade to the m10. unfortunately for me the green shadow issue was a deal breaker for my style of work.
Nice content. I've had my M240 for about six years now, and it still performs 100 %. Some weeks ago I was offered a non seller M-P240 brand new for under USD 5,000. Instead of a 28 mm, I bought a Q, so I don't need to change lenses when on a photo job. I noticed your use of UV filters. They're useless and harm the quality of high performance lenses. Keep on rolling!
Instead of relying on filters, I prefer to use lens hood as protection instead. The only time the front element of a Leica lens was crashed, was while I relied on an UV filter as protection. The UV filter was shattered as well. Never again
I’ve had my eye on one for a little while now. I actually saw a review on RUclips and it was impressive. I might just have to pick one up. My other interest was a 90mm, but I don’t know how often I’d use it.
@@ShawnPBruce the 90 mm 2.5 leica lens is nice too on the m240 i really like that setup, the bokeh is great and microcontrast in black and white is really nice

I’ve really enjoyed using the M240, but I’ve always enjoyed using manual focus. I had a Sony kit for a while and used a lot of vintage lenses with focus peaking and loved it. The M240 is even easier to focus, so I love it. The Q definitely has its perks, particularly autofocus. I also think the colors from the Q come out a little more saturated and punchy. With that said, the image quality from the Q is fantastic. The images are sharp and detailed. The ISO performance has been pretty great. I’d argue better than the M240. My hesitation with the Q has always been the 28mm focal length. I’m a much bigger fan of the 35mm and often switch back and forth with my 50mm. I’ve always felt more comfortable with those focal lengths. I still use my Q occasionally, but I find that the M240 and 35mm are almost always in my bag.

I shoot Sony mainly and am looking at using some manual lenses to get a feel for it, before taking the plunge. But I know that a Leica will be calling my name at some point lol.

I’ve used live view here and there. It’s kind of slow, so I typically avoid it. But I do have the EVF, which makes things nicer.

I truly have no regrets for taking the plunge. The M240 has been an incredible camera. It just makes the whole process more engaging. I love it.
