    I just picked up a used sprinter with the issue of no heat inside. I heard they had heating issues so I’m changing thermostat. Well in trying to pull it broke the plastic tee of the fuel line off the pump and to two other points. I dove into taking the front apart, eventually removing fuel pump just to get to that crappy plastic fuel line. Your videos have helped me get to all theses removals! I may just replace all that I can since I have it all accessible. Thanks!

      Your welcome, music is a tough one, it’s hard to get good non copyrighted music, but I am trying to make mere cinematic viewing experience and for that music is important and the type of music, but this will be a learning curve, this video, is not cinematic by any means, but was supposed to have good viewing angles to see what I am doing, technically I did not need to disassemble the front but I did it for my viewers, goal of my RUclips channel is to be the largest Sprinter source on RUclips, and expediting, but I would like to give my viewers a good cinematic experience so that it will not feel like a tutorial but it will feel like your watching a movie but learning something about the topic in the best way possible, in order to achieve this, I will put in even more time into video production then before and needed to buy more professional videographer gear and software and sound, from now on I started filming in 4k wide angle lens, Dolby Digital surround sound, and video stabilizer rig to shoot smooth B Roll, and I will put in more effort into shooting like a pro, this will result in Cinematic footage, larger File sizes and longer editing and rendering process, to make a 30 min 4k video it takes 1hr to render and even longer to post it to RUclips, but Editing takes me 30 mins to 3hrs to do, depending on what I am doing, you might wonder why am I telling you this, it’s only to let you know, youtube is something I enjoy doing and it’s my Day Job, everyday I make a video but I enjoy it, but In The beginning I really sucked at making videos and was nervous on camera lol Editing and music was not great ether sound also bad, but the video you seen I actually tried making it good, well I give it my all in every video, and this video is not up to my current standards, I have evolved this month but it will start being noticeable in one week, well I am Rambling again lol ok thanks for watching hope you subscribe if you haven’t already and please tell me how I am doing in every video, I don’t mind constructive criticism, I do need to improve in allot of areas thanks

    brilliant video, I'm from the other side of the Atlantic in a country called wales. I've been up all night trying to get an idea of the best way to approach this as I'm planning on replacing my water pump today. I've been on spanners most of my life but your video has really helped me have a good idea of what's involved and the rough timescale and the room ill need for the removed parts before I even get to the pump.
    and by the way, I enjoyed the music : ) keep up the good work!! P.S.. its nice to see the child having a interest in what your doing. : )

      Wow that is a very nice comment, thanks so much for taking your time to write something nice, by the way I never meet anyone from Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 before, sounds like a beautiful country, one day I hope to travel the world and Wales will be on top of my list, lol what a small world with RUclips videos, it’s amazing how many counties speak or understand English Language. I am so glad I was able to help with my videos, my goal is to have the biggest source of Sprinter videos on RUclips. So far I am doing this almost 3 years, over time I am becoming better at doing my videos. There’s still room for improvement, BTW I hope you subscribe and let me know if I can help you more

      Thanks so much, I am really glad you like this particular video because I did the voice over without looking at the video, but all from memory and then I had to match sound to clips and put music where I did not have sound, but at the time I did not have professional vice over equipment for my computer, I just bought some recently, it’s the actual gear that professional voice over artist use, so I am hopping to record future video with my Sony video camera 📹 and then add sound after the fact in my home studio, but with this clip I used my Sony camera and an iPhone for the sound, and iPhone is great for voice over, if you can actually see the video while recording sound, I really care for the quality of content I put out for my viewers and I don’t mind taking extra steps to do a quality job, I hope in the near future I can produce real high quality videos

    I appreciate you sharing this stuff :) the tools for working the pulley is good advice etc .
    I'd really like to see how to change the thermostat with these rigs , I've got a mb100 d but it's still quite similar to the sprinter !
    There's not many people showing how to work on these older diesel Mercedes , there's guys doing the sedans but vans , not so much :) it's a Neish you can work with to build your RUclips channel :)
    Thanks for sharing , you've got my sub , cos I've already learned things :) .

    Also note! You can slacken the tensioner with a 17 millimeter 12-point socket. A lot easier to find than the t-60 torx in my opinion. Also allows for the use of any breaker bar or ratchet since it's a socket and not a hand tool.

    Good video... I'm about to tackle my 04 freightliner (sprinter) water pump... seams to be a weak link in them water pump bearings as they go fairly common... this vid helped with some items I was unsure of.
    Thankyou
    Ps.
    Maybe keep your music in same volume with your voice over add In as the music was screaming compaired to your voice..

    • @ZimaletaMotors
      @ZimaletaMotors  6 лет назад +1

      Yep you right, that voice over was recorded without watching the video and added after the fact, most voice overs I do right away, if I use my iPhone to record it, but this video I used my camcorder, and to do it on the computer takes longer due to the fact that I don’t have a studio and my car or van is my studio when I travel, I have laptop with me but I need to plug it in because battery is completely dead, but from now on the videos that need voice overs will be done with iPhone it just so much easier, but this video that you seen I am getting ready to just chop it up and I won’t have voice over just music, because clearly everything is visible and you can see exactly what you need, so I will just add music, unfortunately I made allot of videos with this format

    Very helpful video, and nice tips like pre-warning of small sleeves dropping out before i might drop it without even knowing it. For us non-pro mechanics, thanks for not cutting out all of the steps like many other vids. do. Agree with other comment, only imprvement i might request is fix the overbearing background music; perhaps at least mix in music at much lower level than voice. Have to lower volume for music, then miss some of your commentary when music stops.

    Also, I think I found a good mechanic today after 6 years of searching in NYC. It is just so hard and dangerous to do a lot of jobs parked in the busy streets especially since I am not an expert. The new mechanic wants to install a switch so I can directly turn on a cooling fan near the engine. He says there is the big fan in front of the radiator of course, but he says there is also a smaller fan that should turn on when things heat up. Is that true? I have never noticed a second fan.
    Thanks so much for your responses!

    • @ZimaletaMotors
      @ZimaletaMotors  6 лет назад +1

      Yes that’s true, the main fan is mechanical fan with a clutch system, it works when engine is spinning but the fans mounted outside the radiator come on electronically, you should hear them come on but maybe they don’t for you, so worth a look, just make sure to unplug a relay that causes that fan to come on if you do it directly, I did that in my Audi when I was 18 and all my wires burned under dash

      About 6hrs

    • @johnfairchild8242
      @johnfairchild8242 4 года назад +1

      I’m my case, being the optimist that I am, I have found that if I allow about twice as much time as I think it will take that’s going to be pretty close. That is, without complications. Once a bolt breaks, or a head or threads strip, or you notice something else that is broken or worn out, and should be replaced while it’s apart, these unexpected things are unpredictable. So, just to cover the unknown you should allow yourself a window of 3-4 times the amount of time you originally thought it would take. Then, if it only takes 1.5 or 2 times your original estimate, you’ll be happy!

    Hey Zimaleta. I’m back in your channel as i have a coolant leak when my engine gets warmed up. It looks like it’s from the left side of the water pump. I believe I still have good compression in the pump itself. After seeing your video, I think I’m dealing with a hose failure. I wasn’t super clear on what you did with the gasket seal. Did you place a glue goo over the gasket upon sealing?

    • @ZimaletaMotors
      @ZimaletaMotors  4 года назад

      Yes I used RTV sealant over a new gasket, probably over kill, but it makes me feel better that I did that

    • @sixthlife
      @sixthlife 4 года назад

      I’m seeing some $50 dollar water pumps on ebay. And some inexpensive hose options. I agree with you, if we are going in past the radiators, might as well spend a bit more and update the pulleys, serpentine belt, water pump and gasket, water pump hose.. I may even consider doing my alternator as I hear a loud squeak upon turning the engine off. I was told it was the alternator clutch. Can you confirm?

    I very much enjoy your series. I have a Dodge 2006 Sprinter 2500. I bought the Sprinter new and it has always run at 180F. Slowly over a couple of months the Sprinter has been running warmer. Going up the mountain, I had to pull over, the radiator plastic top cracked and the engine was approaching 250. After replacing the radiator, the Sprinter would still slowly work its way to 210 running on the highway at ~70mph but at idle would not go over 190. I removed the thermostat and nothing changed. My question is, could an old serpentine or possibly old tensioner be responsible?

    • @ZimaletaMotors
      @ZimaletaMotors  4 года назад

      Thanks 😊, to answer your question NO, but old water pump can effect it, I would say get a summer thermostat but removing it would do the trick, also replacing your fan would help, the clutch probably is bad on it maybe getting a new one would help

  • @stevecamrie1360

    Did you notice. The new pulley you put on at the very last of the video. The pulley that goes on the oil filter housing... the old pulley is smooth and the new one is grooved... also I can do this water pump with taking everything out..

    • @ZimaletaMotors

      ZIMALETA HOW TO SHOW & UNBOXING Will replacing the smooth pulley for the grooved one have any impact on performace or belt wear? I went to the autopart store today and couldn't find that smooth pulley. I was having issues with all 3 idler pulleys and belt was about to get off track. Do you have any idea why my power steering fluid ran out? Not sure if that was the stuff that had leaked on the hoses?

    • @stevecamrie1360
      @stevecamrie1360 6 лет назад +1

      There no difference in performance or any issues to the belt. I have seen much more sprinters have the smooth pulley then the grooved one... I couldn't find an answer to why auto parts store sell them. Maybe in Europe have different design engines..you can use the lower idler puller for both as it's grooved... as far as your leak. It's either leaking at the hoses or the steering rack. Double check all the hoses and have a look at the rack. The rack itself has hard lines on it. Sometimes those lines rust and they start leaking oil...

    • @ZimaletaMotors
      @ZimaletaMotors  6 лет назад

      Yes you can put a Grooved for a smooth one on top, but you need a smooth one for tensioner, do not used a grooved one there, and power steering fluid leak you will just need to look for the leak I am not sure where it’s leaking

    I had a little conversation going with you the other day about thermostats, but I can't seem to find it.
    Here is a question - - I thought my 2006 motor was overheating because when in hot summer traffic the thermostat has been rising a little bit and making me very nervous. So, I have been turning on the dashboard heat to cool the engine and it seems to work. Tonight I did a little test and just let the engine run but the thermostat never went up into a dangerous zone, it just went up a little bit. Do you think it is normal for the thermostat to rise when the weather is almost 90 degrees and I am stuck in traffic, or should I be worried?

    • @ZimaletaMotors
      @ZimaletaMotors  6 лет назад

      It’s a good question it all depends on the temperature that it goes to, what is yours going to? Make sure it never goes into the Red, but going higher then the center is normal, especially in hot wether and going up hills, I did not know that this is an important topic, I had a video on this and I think I deleted it, but now I will make a new video, and explain clearly what operating temperature is normal and where the thermostat is, thanks for asking this questions because i can help more people with a video like that

    • @ZimaletaMotors
      @ZimaletaMotors  6 лет назад +1

      +Wallace Murray no tensioner is one pice and a pulley is just a normal pulley, if you replacing the pulley it’s just one torques Bolt, and 2 number 13 or E10 bolts holding tensioner in place, as you can also see, to get the the bolts I First locks the tensioner in place by inserting a small screw driver but a nail would work better, that allowed me to get to the 2nd Bolt, I will make one more video in 12 days I will upload it, it will be just go pro video doing pulleys and tensioner, plus just 1 video dedicated to Water Pump, because there’s allot going on and I got it all with a GoPro, but with this video I wanted to show everything I did without taking 9hrs to do it

    Hi. My Freightliner 2002 2500 Has oil in the coolant resevour and I but it Idles and runs well in limp mode, I was wondering if you might know what that could be? I was leaning towards the water pump.

    • @ZimaletaMotors
      @ZimaletaMotors  6 лет назад

      I am aware of this problem, but never had it on my Sprinter, my guess is, Oil in Radiator fluid might be corroded radiator and transmission oil that is being cooled by radiator is getting passed to radiator somehow, this is just an educated guess, it also might be a bad seal somewhere, bad head gasket, or oil cooler, but it also might be more serious lol if this doesn’t sound serious, I hope this helps you, if you find what it is that’s causing this let me know

    • @MrSantucci2
      @MrSantucci2 6 лет назад +1

      thanks for the quick response, your videos are very useful! I thought head gasket at first but it runs and sound pretty good, so fingers crossed hopefully its not that or a cracked head. • @ZimaletaMotors
      @ZimaletaMotors  6 лет назад +1

      Your welcome, unfortunately I don’t know anyone that understands sprinters in AZ, but I just don’t see how water pump would do it, unless your losing water, but you got oil, I recommend change radiator, and drain all fluid and start fresh, see if that does it, also this might be oil cooler seal, it’s easier to change, so check that out first
