I'm a retired commercial pilot and a former Vatsim participant . I left Vatsim because of the problems with controllers, pilots and the entire network. Although not perfect now, this is a refreshing alternative. Looking forward to future enhancements and upgrades. Thanks for the video.
Can you tell me what problems did you encounter with VATSIM? I'm interested to join this network.Thank you.
@@stabilo3170 I do not encounter any problems on VATSIM, and already flying on it from 2020 and on. The only thing is that all controllers are humans that do not get payed for their work, thus the're not online 24/7!
Have you maybe tried Pilot Edge? From what I know it's a little more vetted, where the controllers are actual ATC students IRL, and you have to pay to use. VATSIM is free, open to all, no harsh consequences if you mess up, they put a lot of effort to teach people the correct procedures and to be as realistic as possible. Not sure what you expect from a free online ATC network, they are one of the best out there imo.
Vatsim is super country dependent. Flying from India to Germany, you’ll notice a lot of confused act until you’re over Austria. But no wonder the German atc are good, since becoming a vatsim controller here takes like a year of supervised training.
Emi, you need to contact them and see if you can be one of the Guest voices. If that happens all buy it for sure my friend.😝😜🤪
8:42 Eminem moment haha
ahhhhhh, that can go faster :D
There's more potential in this ;-)
@@A330Driver but shouldn't it be slower and more clear, so the FO and your audience can actually understand it. I mean I know it's something every pilot probably know by heart but still
Excellent video! My cat was going crazy trying to "get" the wipers during the taxi-out.
Thank you for sharing in a way we can easily understand. That's brilliant to type the atc instructions on the scratchpad for read back and easy access! Was looking for the link to this A330. Currently in the Fenix A320. Thanks again!
Did my first flight with Beyond in the TBM today and loved it. Not perfect, but way better then what else is out there for the price.
Whilst its not perfect, its definitely been a great addition to my flights. There are some clear areas where it can be improved and it seems the devs are aware of these, and it has already been updated a few times since I first downloaded it so I'm looking forward to seeing what other improvements come soon. Always great to get a professional's insight into this technology though!
A continued positive attitude to constructive criticism and adoption of these where practical will make this a great product. I too am very hopeful.
Very funny about arriving at the Cologne airport. Thank you for the video, I also think some instructions during my flight were strange, but it is still the best ATC replacement we have certainly accept VATSIM/IVAO
Yep, it is.
Hi Emanuel, you are the best sim youtuber, wonderfully useful training videos
Gotta love the asobo wiper effect 😅
My biggest hope for this tool is for it to eventually be able to simulate region-specific oddities outside NA and EU. I would LOVE to be able to do stuff like switching to metric system in China or be required to apply different transponder rules.
You sound tired Emi, take care.
I'm just trying not to wake anyone in the hotel up here. Recorded this at 5AM local time in the hotel room on my layover and it's not exactly a well isolated hotel room.

i wonder too@@jonathang4882
Great landing!!
I've done about 2 flights now (in the US only) and I think it's amazing. I had a few issues but nothing major. I know it's only going to get better after they get more community feedback.
They seem very open to feedback indeed, I'm looking forward to it.
Must be interesting to try!
I've never been on vatsim or IVAO because i'm quite shy but that could be an option to practice, although i'm short on money so yk, maybe for another time
great video as well btw
Emi, I was really hoping you'd do a review. I've done a few flights and had the same results as you. The phraseology really needs work. And I'm not complaining. Evan as it is, it's a great alternative when Vatsim is offline in the Chicago area. I love it. Glad it wasn't just me with issues. Thanks for reviewing.
I’ve tried quite few flights and apart from odd taxi routings (airports incorrect ?) and being alittle high on finals it’s been really great. I’m using auto respond which is lazy but helps learn use it and works brilliantly. Ofc the speaking back which is huge part of the BATC IM NOT USING BUT SUITS ME FINE. It’s got huge promise and will update/develop quickly now as ppl use and report issues. Thx for video. Premium or basic that’s personal cost choice. I’ve tried both and basic is more than useable. Keeping a copy of all the comms in the BATC window is extremely useful when checking instructions
I think I'm actually going to try the auto respond option as well on my next one. Let's see how that'll turn out!
@@A330DriverAs I carnt see so well I have concentrate on instruments and flying at busy times rather than remembering and talking. Ofc in RL the workload is split anyway 😮. I was dreading the talking before buying but saw the auto response and comms in the BATC window I can customise to read easily. It’s made my flights more fun for sure the future going to only get better 👍
Thank you Emanuel ..., i will wait a bit and stay on VatSim :)
Hi Emi, Overall I think its a very good product, true it is very raw at the moment, however the potential is huge....and the developers have gone to great lengths to make sure that you know that is early access and not to have expectations too high..
Personally I'm loving it, as someone that is terrified of joining in on Vatsim, it is to me a wonderful training tool, not so much that the procedures are true to life, but just that it gets me used to listening to and following instructions from ATC as well as flying the aircraft and building my confidence.
I can see this leading me on to Vatsim in the not too distant future.
well worth the $30
Is there a reason you use pushback pro instead of GSX? I really like using GSX. I have the parking sign that tells you what’s going on, how long you have to departure. I like using their pushback a lot. Even lifts it up slowly.
lol ASKIK, reminds me of the two ASOLE, one east of Kilimanjaro and the other NE of Addis Ababa
How do you make these videos if you're in your hotel at 5am making them Emi? Assume you also have an RTX powered laptop in addition to your main gaming desktop rig? If you do have a laptop, how do you find it performs with MSFS and the payware aircraft? Thanks!
you have to say 9 - 8 english it dont pick up niner-eight sometimes or other numbers said in aviation tone but getting there
Happy flights 🛫✌️
Could you imagine? Cruising FL straight down to the IAF MCA. My goodness, every flight would be a perfect idle continuous descent angle.
Here in the states it’s not (usually) quite as bad as it is in the euro FIR’s, it’s typically a descend via (RNAV STAR) when into a larger class Bravo, but we do get lots of amended altitudes and speeds. When not on a STAR it’s similar to Europe where we will get stop altitudes to keep your vertical profile in the current ARTCC airspace and then further down after handover per traffic spacing.
The nice thing about flying in the states though is we use 18K msl/FL180 for the transition alt/transition level everywhere and the UIR’s all start at 17,999msl so it makes things a bit simpler. I rather enjoy flying across the pond though, the varying transition altitudes and levels make things a bit interesting. You also seem to fly a lot more published procedural approaches for both precision AND non precision approaches (race track patterns, lots of procedure turns, etc) where here the vast majority of the time it’s gonna be Radar vectors for a straight in here. Of course there are exceptions, but I’m just talking about the majority of the time.
and why you don't you use the Ftsim soundpack? I'm curious... 😄
I was in Munich Monday and a big storm hit later in the day when I was leaving towards Innsbruck. Was this that live weather?
I don't think so, this wasn't really storm at all. Just a bit rainy. MSFS tends to show the weather to be more dramatic than it actually is.
It’s pretty nice to have BATC as a practice tool since I’m not comfortable flying in the vatsim network yet. My only annoyance is that I always need to repeat my callsign, because it’s unable to read what I’m telling them. I think BATC is an awesome addition for some flight simmers including me. Can’t wait for further updates!
I'm kinda on the brink if I should just use the auto readback function as well. It seems to have quite some problems understanding readbacks.
Ive noticed it doesnt understand pronunciation of aviaton numbers, niner and tree for 9 and 3 doesnt work, quite odd. Feel bad for anyone with a irish accent trying to use it 😂@A330Driver
@@ChaseskyIs that so? Then it's a no-go. I hope this will be corrected soon.
@chasesky the niner seems quiet difficult to understand for the ai haha. I hope that will be improve the pronunciations.
Moin @A330driver, warum hast du kein livestream tun?. aber ein Schön video mein freund!! 👍 👌
I was really looking forward to this product and followed the development closely. I have to say that i don't enjoy it at the moment, but i am sure that it will be a great thing in the future. The phraseology is weird, the TOD planning and the altitude clearences are very off, but i bet all these things can and will be changed in the future.
If youre using obs you could shiw the whole screen if that could be an option ;)
Hello ! is it possible to know where did you buy your computer or where did you assembled it please ? Also, is it necessary to get these specs ? or msfs mainly need a good internet connexion as I heard ?
Hi, I bought the different parts in several places over the internet. A friend of mine assembled it for me at home. That really saves money compared to buying it in a computershop or having it assembled online.
Legendary Livery....
Love it!

Thank you so much for your support 👍
It's always a pleasure to watch a great review.
Thank you so much!
I personally prefer to use Pilot2ATC in combination with XTC-Chatter for XPlane. Still not perfect, but I mainly use this to get used to the phrasiology and the use of radios to prepare myself to fly on VATSIM one day. My impression is that there are no big differences. Although...the voices in this AI application sound more natural.
Yeah Pilot2ATC has evolved a lot. Main problem is old fashioned voice recognisition. Fix that and it would currently be better than BATC.
I hope you will be able to test SayIntensions soon. I think you referred to that one as "the other one". As I'm no real life pilot I cannot judge how realistic they are, so your opinion would interest me. It seems that this stuff is getting better and better now.
1:03:10 It sound like a combination of ATC and Angry bird 😂
hey!
I have a question can you hear the cabin announcements from the b737 cockpit ?
Hi, no you can't. Only if you turned up the PA volume on the ACP, but why would anyone do that? You really don't want to hear the same announcements for the millionth time. They're irrelevant for you as pilot.
@@A330Driver True,Thanks! 😉
I miss that airberlin livery (also the classic one) :(
"Berlin 170 Quebec"... So I've been meaning to ask - what is the significance/reason for callsign differing from a flight number? Example, currently there's a Brussels flight operating from MUC-BRU, flight nr is SN2646, but callsign is BEL8HT.. Thanks!
Hi, it's mostly the huge number of flights flying nowadays. It would just be too easy to mix things up when only using numbers. Using alphanumeric callsigns adds in variety and makes things easier to be kept apart.
It is a principle to avoid callsign similarity (otherwise imagine all the Lufthansa's with similar callsigns in the EDDF area). The system behind it is called CSST I think, at least for Eurocontrol. And a letter-number-mix makes it much easier to discriminate in radio chatter.
@@A330Driver thank you!
@@wavesandsky thank you!
Thanks for sharing. Whose 737 is this?
PMDG
When BeyondATC mentioned that you left your planned route and you shall resume own navigation to TABUM: Might it be that somehow BeyondATC was internally expecting that you fly your initially planned route over ASKIK even thou they cleared you DCT TABUM before? So maybe they just told you DCT TABUM but the internal flight plan was not changed?
Hey. Why do you select Flaps 40 in case of an RTO?
In the 737 the flaps are used to slide down from the wing in case of an emergency evacuation. Therefore in case on an RTO they are immediately extended to 40 once the plane comes to a stop so that you don’t loose time lateron in case you need to evacuate.
@@A330Driver awesome. Thanks!
what kind of headset do you use? any recommandations?
I actually just used my Apple AirPods for this one as I recorded it on layover in the hotelroom.
Interesting program but reminds me somehow to FS2Crew and how i get frustrated when it doesn't understand me, reason why i stopped using it. I think I'll stick with Vatsim for now.
Btw, u can phonetically spell the Waypoints!!
Can't beat the immersion of VATSIM. As real as it gets...
This has 100% coverage 24/7, more important for me than AI vs real human.
It’ll be interesting to see how the AI handles different regions and accents. There’s too much variance in local procedure, even in a single country, for the program to incorporate them all correctly and I don’t believe that’s a realistic expectation. It probably understands accents better than most humans would. I struggle mightily with German accents and you won’t ever find me on VatSim in Germany as a result. I’ve heard some German transmissions that I know are in English but just don’t register as such with me.
In the RW it's common to have an instruction like "line up and clear for take off" or "line up and wait" or " after the landing traffic line up and wait", I disagree with your comment concerning the line-up.
The second and third one yes, but definitely not the first. Why would you give a takeoff clearance that way? Can you takeoff without lining up? It’s double worded and thus just uses up unnecessary space on the frequency. You won’t find that phrase in any AIP.
Comment at 1h 1m about no traffic and a made up excuse does not consider the program was completely rewritten last year to handle injected traffic. Just because you are the only aircraft in the sky at the moment doesn't mean the code is making up an excuse. To have it consider you as the only aircraft would mean a regression back to the single user version with uncontrolled traffic.
Thanks for reviewing. I need to preface my comment by saying I am not a real pilot. Far from it. Just a casual simmer, so I could TOTALLY be doing a bunch of things wrong, and I'm OK with that. That said, I get mush mouth and trip over my words, and have a super-hard time multitasking. I also have a tendency to... erm.... get chippy with people, if I think they're losing patience or talking down to me, so VATSIM, let's just say, is not for me. So for me this is a good replacement for MSFS's abysmal ATC.... albeit, not exactly a stellar bar to clear....
So far, I've been overall happy. I find from requesting clearance at the gate, through cruise and descent, BATC has been really good. Approach, for me, is where it shits the bed fairly frequently. Occasionally, it keeps me at too high an altitude, or gives me a closed runway. Last night coming into KSEA it made me do circles - not a hold - literal circles. Had to end the flight. Often, I've had to just ignore it and do what I'd normally do until I land, at which point, it does a decent job again. That's OK because it doesn't nag me the whole way to the ground like the default ATC in MSFS does if I have to deviate because I want to, you know... land. From what I've seen, I'm not the only one with approach issues, so hopefully this'll all be ironed out.
The "basic" voices are more than enough for me, which is nice, so I won't have constantly buy characters for premium voices. Because I'm a cheapskate.
Overall, though, it's not half bad, and I'm excited to see where they go.
I've so far had luck on my approaches, out of five flights five worked out. Though always by simply getting directs to the IAF and a clearance for a standard ILS approach, never radar vectors or anything the likes. That's a bit of a ptiy because in real life you pretty much get vectors about 100% of all times. I don't think I've ever flown a full STAR onto a final here in Europe yet, only in Africa that seems to happen every now and then (but even they usually give shortcuts in form of directs).
I might try some radar vectored approaches soon and will see what will happen.
Is there a way to Update this nav Data? Because for me its Not working for several Airports Like EDDS or EDDK:(
Yes, update the sims own navdata, it reads the data directly from the sim.
@@A330Driver where can i do that exacteley? Thank you

At the moment, apart from the voices I don’t see what’s the big difference compared to FSHud.
"And another one as well"... Someone is sponsored lol.
Actually I did not receive money for the video, but they did give me a free review copy. It would be unfair to promote the competition in that, wouldn’t it?
Okokok, that’s what the „PR“ answer would look like. I actually simply forgot the name of the other addon when I recorded this since most people are talking about BeyondATC these days and not the competitor. Well, at least the part that I received a free copy and did not get paid otherwise for the video is true though.
At the first frequency readback the mighty AI system is already stuck. And the TL is wrong.
I personally think that BATC is a bit too american. I flew out of Munich once and got 26L instead of 26R (flying to Frankfurt) and no SID but rather "fly on runway heading and expect vectors to GIVMI".
It's certainly inspired by US ATC, that's out of question. However it's not totally unheard of that you get a rador vector. That stuff does happen in real life as well, though not very often. Phraseology is certainly based on US phraseology as well, with some deviations.
Practice engine failures on takeoff. See how well it does

I think that BATC's biggest problem is not using data from Navigraph but from the simulator. This creates a lot of problems.
Well, Navigraph can update the sim though, then BATC is using Navigraphs data.
