The Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 for many years during black fridays is offered below 150$. But indeed an autofocus lens with introductory price below 150$ is impressive.Yongnuo offers autofocus lens at similar price too.
nice little lens to take a walk in any situation :). Another recent option is the Viltrox 20mm 2.8 with also autofocus. It is full frame but in an apsc sensor you can get a similar results. anyway, thanks to do this videos about the Nex Series. I really love their slim design. It would be great if Sony take this approach eventually in some point again
Pretty excessive vignetting at 02:16, 02:18. I wonder if that's his preferred funky lightroom presets or pretty bad wide open performance on the lens 😅
Hey. So i was wondering since i don't find in your youtube videos. How's AF performance of ttartisans 27mm on nex5r? If i want to put one lens for making my dream pocketable setup, would you recommend SEL 20mm f2.8 or ttartisans 27mm f2.8? Thanks in advance Hope you a good day
would it be a better choice if i buy this lens now or use the a6000 kit lens for a little bit till i get better at photography or videography? (i'm about to buy a Sony A6000)
Great question. I would personally go for this lens. The A6000 kit lens is okay, but this lens really creates beautiful portraits for a low cost. I would save up and invest in this because it is a lens you will be able to take with you for a long time from camera to camera.
After buying the TTArtisan keep the kit lens and use it during daytime when you can stop it down to f6.4 or even f8. Like that it offers a good performance and great versatility.
The full frame equivalent wouldn't cost that much more. You are incorrectly assuming the equivalent would be f2.8. However the equivalent is a 40mm f4.2.
Yeah it is true, but not everyone needs the full frame equivalent. Also, I never said that putting this lens on a full frame sensor would maintain its 2.8 aperture... I said that if you put a full frame camera into APS-C crop mode, the lens would work just fine. It would no longer be a 27mm lens, and be more like a 41mm. Same with the aperture. You would always multiple your focal length and aperture by the crop factor when putting APS-C glass on a full frame sensor.
@kraigpruett My comment references your assumption that this lens would cost €250-350 if they made it full frame. This would only be true if it was a FF 27mm f2.8 and with that you are comparing apples and peaches.
@@maggnet4829 yea that may be true, but seriously, there is only one compact Sony 40mm full frame lens and it is very expensive. Its razor sharp but still $700-800. So this is a good alternative for those of us who aren't made of money .
@@GravemindHD That's an issue of market availability. However, if there'd not be 99% of people not understand equivalency, many more would show interest in slower f-stops for FF and that would convince third party manufacturers to offer those lenses for a cheap price. By the way, if you consider the resale value of the Sony 40mm, its not that expensive.
I have a question, would you say that the Sony a5100 is better than the next 5r or nex 7 ? I’m just looking for an affordable camera for taking pictures. Thank you for your help 🙏
Yes I would take the A5100 over those two because of its autofocus system. They will take similar photos to each other, but the experience with the A5100 will just be better. But the NEX-7 is the only of those that has a viewfinder so you might want that? Just up to you! I’d personally go A5100
This lens is semi low light. Indoors in the evening at ok lighting it will allow you exposure times of 1/200 around ISO 3200-6400. That's enough to freeze slower motions. ISO 6400 together with an advanced noise reduction is where the a5100 caps. But for many of those images you'll want to use advanced noise reduction like the current Lightroom version or DXO offer. Anything beyond ISO 6400 is no fun. This lens will however not get you decent results if e.g. a camp fire is the sole light source. There you'd rather want to go for f1.4 or even f1.2. It's a big upgrade to the kit lens though and due to its small size a great addition. Just be aware that the a5100 has no image stabilisation, neither does this lens, so you'll not want to get as slow of a shutter like you are used from the kit lens (for still subject photography). After this lens, get the Sigma 56mm f1.4. You'll get your low light capability and a great portrait lens. If however you really enjoy the focal length of the TTArtisan, check out the Viltrox 27mm f1.2 that should soon come out for Sony as well. It's a beast in all regards, but a lot bigger though (a reason I personally will keep the TTArtisan even when I get the Viltrox).

I am going to try and review Yongnuo's new 85mm lens with AF here soon!

Thanks for the comment! Yes, definitely a great walk around lens. I want to try the Viltrox 20mm 2.8 lens, but haven't had a chance yet! Maybe soon!
39mm filter thread is another positive moment. While using a6000 kit lens I acquired a couple of inexpensive filters, probably I wasn't the only one
Love you vids
Thanks a lot!

If you watch at the 5:49 mark I talk about the vignetting on APS-C lenses but not as much on Full frame glass in APS-C mode.
I have Sony a5000, do you think it can work with the older Sony a series?
is this lens silent when focusing or do you here the focus when shooting video?
You can hear the focus a bit, I would make sure to have a mic away from the camera if possible.

i have the same issue with my samyang end caps. they just slid off
Very strange!
this might be my main lens until the 35mm f1.8 af comes out in the e mount!!
It is such a great option!
The Sony 35mm f1.8 has been out for years
@@superelectic45 not from TTartisan
Does this lens have a lens profile for lightroom to correct distortion and vignetting?
works with the sonny nex 6 ?
Will this work for Sony a7Cii?

I'm really new to photography, i have a a5100 with kit lens and I want low light lenses so should i get a 2.8 or lower?
i have great experiences with f1.4 or 1.8 prime lenses but an f2.8 will be quite a bit better than the kit lens at f3.5
2.8 is a great place to start! 1.8 can be even better as well. All depends on what you are shooting!
