- In a world where mitered corners and flat patterns simply don't co-exist, there is a man destined to overcome. When other say it can't be done; he alone searches for justice; and mitered corners. Unafraid to settle on a solution that SortaWorks, he alone (with the help of his friend Brian Frank) - he alone conquers the unconquerable.

Thank You!! Been searching for a while
@barnfather Yeah, this is one of my favorite tips with Inventor. Sheet metal is great, part modeling is easy - Frame Generator is the bomb. Thanks for watching.
This is awesome!
Excellent tutorial.
This is great, I'll check out your other videos, to see if you have more good tricks
Can't contain my excitement right now! =)
Bloody Marvellous
this is awsome ! !!! Thank you much
Gotta go with the default, service packs loaded?, video driver up to snuff, and make sure you have a read/write library enabled for the acitve project. Watch my other Content Center Video on how to set one up if you haven't already.
Why i dont great library sheet metal ?
I choose structural shape but i dont see selection preview and i dont pulish ?
you are kind of a savior here !
Great tutorial! You can do very interesting stuff with it, but what about sheet-metal cuts instead of miter cuts??
I redesigned the part and wolla, it works.. =)
Thank you for your sharing, will you like to make a bolt connection hollow steel frame for Sheet Metal moulding to RC.
really GREAT stuff Rob!!! gonna give it a try soon !
btw, Rob is it possible to export an IPT to a full 3D dwg file for use in autocad? I´m on the 2010 suite.
Thank for your sharing, But i have a bolt connection joint hollow frame and cladding like this, how to make it
Does this still work? I can't use the bend commands with extruded solids in Inventor 2016. Inventor only allows me to create bends between faces.
is that possible by solidworks ?
WOW, i was thinking just about that! i need to redraw an project ive got :D thats so much easier, with 10000 less klicks
I realize this is ancient, but just wanted to say it's very slick! There's 3 things I flagged: 1) you can easily make a non FG part that extrudes 'from-to' with angled work planes on each end. Then you can drive the angle from a higher level part of sketch. 2) you don't have a flatpattern in the FG published part. That would be the desired work flow. And 3) The FG part isn't a true sheetmetal part, b/c the mitered corners are true miters, which you can see in the flatpattern (the mitered edges are cut at an angle and not flush cut). So is there any way to fix 2 & 3 above? Thanx for the informative video! ...Chris
Did you find any solution to these 3 points?
Btw what is "FG"?
@@LameFUUUU
"FG" = Frame Generator
No, I don't have any solution to points 2 & 3 b/c the software isn't capable of doing it.
Greate
my inventor crashes everytime at 4:00 when clicking next on the paramaters screen.. :(((
Awesome! I would love to see what you do with this tip when you are done. Send me an email using the email function in RUclips and we can hook up that way.
Can this be down in 2008?
