    I must be the only painter who cleans their palettes & paints (warrior pans) after every use. I've had the same pochade box for almost 70 years and it was given to me by my grandmother's brother. Who was a mural / sign painter back in his day. I clean after each use and orange oil after each use. I can't stand a dirty palette for myself, but I love how it looks when other artists leave all that dirt.

    After a hiatus from oils he’s not in the groove
    No paints, forgets the easel, then has to move
    An appearance by Pete Singin
    Should he sightsee or put the sign in?
    Studies of lights and darks, a Notan
    Tired of being tired like Gauguin
    Become a patron, thoughts superheat
    Stay creative, had fun in the street
    😁
    Both paintings are really wonderful. I’m glad you had fun despite the challenges. It was fun to see you out there doing your thing. I like your glasses too. Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💛

    Excellent work after such distractions! 2 months away from oil painting and your return paint is a challenging cityscape? Don’t beat yourself up. If I’ve been away from a craft for a while the first one or two when I get back is like a warm up or easing into it. Plus you are coming off all the stress of getting the show ready.
    Still you dive back in with a challenging location, forgotten supplies, etc, and still did great work.
    I’ve been indoors mostly working on needlework for Halloween and my granddaughter but you are inspiring me to get back outside and paint.
    Thanks for another awesome video.

    Oh how I sympathise with your day starting sideways. It definitely brings a edge to things, the improvising to rescue the day. What it does do is make the day distinctive, memorable and one to look back upon with a smile. As usual, I thoroughly enjoyed the painting & the insights. Hi Mike. Thanks for doing an urban painting - it was great. I was hoping that you would do an urban painting soon so it was useful to pick up on your process. I'm taking part in my first plein air nocturnal painting competition here in Norwich, England so I've taken notes and am going back over some of your videos. I've been practicing and its as if you are standing next to me saying 'too much detail/ simplify/limit your colours'. I'm hoping to learn more from being in the competition rather than getting prizes.
    Both the paintings done were brilliant - thanks again for sharing as the videos help me a lot.

    Hey Michael! I’ve been a big fan of Emma for a good while and now I’m a fan of you through her! I’m also a fine artist and I know from her podcasts sometimes that was difficult for you, financially, as a parent. One of my concerns being a future parent is not feeling like I’m contributing enough. I just wanted to say I admire you so much. I got married recently and my husband has been very supportive in me pursuing this full time. I was a former highschool art teacher for 5 years. Knowing that most of society defines success as a paycheck and being an “artist” can have a stigma against it makes me not confident with my decision. But seeing how happy you are and that you get to live your passion AND be a great father to Emma, makes me a lot more confident. Hopefully my future children look up to me the same way she looks up to you. Thank you 🤍

    • @chamberlainpaintings
      @chamberlainpaintings  Год назад

      Thanks Hannah! It's wonderful that your husband is so supportive. I wouldn't worry about what society thinks! I find it odd that paintings are among the most revered objects on the planet and yet pursuing a career as an artist is often looked down upon or considered unrealistic. I wish you all the best on your creative journey!

    Loved both paintings, Pete's sorta finished one took me by surprise, went from Mr.Ho Hum, not sure what I'm doing to knockout result.
    You left the grey road right along the bottom after all which was fine but I'd of then taken the blue sky across the top level of the right building to create a relationship with the grey bottom.
    Anyway, just saying, It's a design thing and we all have an opinion.
    Good to see you doing some urban again. 👍

    • @chamberlainpaintings
      @chamberlainpaintings  Год назад +1

      Thanks Jim. Thanks for your suggestions Jim but I quite like it just the way it is. The road along the bottom made me nervous intellectually but it worked aesthetically. It all comes down to aesthetics. For example, if your horizon is dead center but it looks good, go with it.
