iirc, the Catcher was traditionally the team captain on the field. Many of them fill that role in one way or another, even if the title isn't always used anymore, they act like leaders within their team and stick up for their players. There's a sense of ownership there.
It's stuff like this that comes to mind for many people when AJ is mentioned. Strangely, he had a long, successful career (statistically speaking). 19 MLB years, a .280 batting, 2043 hits and a World Series ring.
That ump who threw the pitcher and catcher out on the same play needs to take at least a season off. If your skin is that thin you don’t belong in the MLB
Varitek is one of only three players to have played in the Little League World Series, College World Series, and Major League World Series. He additionally participated in Olympic Baseball and the World Baseball Classic. AND HIS PUNCHED A-ROD IN THE FACE!!!
Umps remind me of trump. They get butthurt because they get exposed and they kick out the one who exposed them. Just like trump firing the head of fbi for investigating him
I wish you guys added some replays or video that helped put some of these in context or validate some of them. Some of them are quick cuts and a bit more video would help.
Every Ump should be required to have a body cam. That way we know what is said and how it is said. If the action does not warrant an ejection, the ump should have his next day behind homeplate skipped. after 3 instances, there should be a dock in pay and or suspension.
good idea, but instead add every blown call is a dock in pay in intervals. bad ejections result in large fines. something to get umps out of their power trips
Don’t need a cam. Just hook up a wireless mic would be sufficient. This video was painful to watch - on most clips we don’t get to see what actually happened in the play itself, but just a lot of footage of catcher losing their cool and starts arguing. Without seeing the play, it is hard for me to empathize with a catcher who simply appears to lose his cool.
Absolutely. I'm a pitcher and I had a catcher with a fire like these back in high school. The best catcher I ever had, we didn't really get along off the field, but between those lines, he was willing to take a bullet for whoever was on the mound.
Martin getting tossed with two different teams! 😂 Molina punked out. Finally someone isn’t intimidated by him. He usually stays in people’s face, but dude wasn’t moving.
Hey where’s the clip with the orioles? Where Kevin gausman got thrown out for throwing a breaking ball that hit Xander bogarts and Caleb josheph starts screaming at the umpire trying to stand up for the pitcher
I don't understand all the hate against the umpires. I'm not really into baseball, but I enjoy a few clips like these from time to time. It seems the players wouldn't get thrown out as much if they would have some dignity and integrity, and just play the game. There are too many players with fragile egos in this clip, and I'm glad they're getting thrown out for refusing to play baseball at a baseball game, or doing something stupid like arguing calls. The 4:55 clip is an exception where I agree the ump is just being a baby. If the pitcher broke the rules somehow, then just toss him out. 5:31 is a perfect example of what I'm annoyed with. Just... shut up and play, or listen to it and play. You can do both. You don't have to stop the game to cry at each other.
I know umpires get yelled at a lot throughout a game (I’m an umpire myself), but unless a player or coach is being aggressive or getting in your face, there is no reason to throw them out. These umpires want to show how “tough” they are by “not taking crap from anyone,” and they abuse their power by tossing people for very minor things. They’re affecting the outcome of the game when they do this, and it really ticks me off bc the number 1 job of an umpire is to call the game fairly and not influence the outcome.
Problem: Umpires calling bad strike zones then tossing players out of the game for arguing the bad strike zone. What the MLB should do about it: Something. What the MLB is actually doing about it: Nothing.
When hose hit his first home run the catcher got mad because he was “ Starring at the ball too long”. If a pitcher could celebrate a strikeout a hitter could celebrate a homer
@@andyhernandez3041 and I also think as a pitcher u need somebody to stand up for u the way AJ Pierzynki does it, Mccann is just to aggressive with it, like keeping the runner from crossing home is too much, when he gets to home u just say, "hey man, dont dissrepect my pitcher like that"
It's one thing to punch a guy in the face. At worst you might get suspended a few games and loose 5% of your salary. It's another to club a guy with a bat. You'll be leaving the stadium in cuffs and probably end your career. Besides, most of these though guys aren't thinking about weapons. They are all talking tough about how their feelings got hurt.
Can’t stand the Cubs. (I’m a Cards fan) but mad respect for David Ross stopping that ump from running Lester down. Under no circumstances should an ump chase a player down
giveitall1992 Gomez? Yeah probably, but it being Fernandez’s first homerun, cmon you can’t blame him for that. I’m a catcher and you can’t be soft like that and get worked up about a pitcher hitting a homerun and watching it.
Catcher need more credit tho. They have a tough job and always stand up for their teammates! I feel bad that they have to be so close to those crap umps.
I have been an tall and skinny catcher since my high school. I had a pitcher who does trashtalk when he tries to corner pitch and gets called ball 4 times.
That first one with Pudge Rodriguez was ridiculous. How are you going to try to frame a pitch that's at least a foot off the plate and expect the ump to fall for it?
*fight breaks out* Announcer: nice under move right there.. BAM I’m dead- 💀✋🏻 I would so lose my job if I was ever an Announcer for those games. I would be having to much fun and get fired.
The pitch before that was a strike 3 that the umpire called a ball. It was so obvious AJ and Yu started walking to the dugout. So losing the perfect game on the next pitch set him off.
Catchers need to get more love! They take beatings the whole game and are one of the first to stick up for their teammates.
I agree cuz I am a catcher as well
@Basketball Baller im a catcher too :)
Catcher is a hard job.
Joe Garagiola would agree with you.

Catchers are usually great guys to have on your team. Love Pudge Rodríguez!
I miss Brian McCann so much as a Braves fan. The best catcher I've seen this team have in my 37 years.
When he stood in front of Carlos Gomez, I wanted to run through a fucking wall lol
This is basically just a compilation of A.J. Pierzynski ejections.
And Cervelli
Well AJ has a mouth on him and he can't stop.
And Russell Martin
You say that like it's a _bad_ thing.

Thin skin is a requirement for MLB umpires.

This is a video of umps feeling powerful and then ejecting people for no reason
so, umps acting the same as always?
It's the biggest disgrace to baseball.

Yea I think a lot of time umps only eject because it makes them feel powerful

Umpires really have gone to shit the past few years. Can’t blame the catchers 🤷🏼♂️
Dude that one ump that was shoving the cubs cather (I could of gotten the team wrong, I'm not much into baseball. 4:57 is what I'm talking about)
RUclips is throwing out all these commercials hoping you buy the premium package
Exactly, and I will not
These ck
These clips left me frustrated. Would have like to see leadups and aftermaths, not just ejections without front or back stories
that transition at 6:06 was smooth
The batter yeah
No not really lmao
This video is called Catchers standing up for team...Yet the last clip cuts it out altogether...WHY???
What was smooth about the jump cut?

Seeing the catchers getting in peoples' faces like that feels so surreal after a year with COVID distancing.

Almost every clip started too late. It'd be nice to see the pitch....
I can't believe you missed the best part of the Varitek A-Rod brawl

Umpire: GET OUT.
Watching this, I forgot how many teams A. J. Pierzynski played for.
man, that varitek and a-rod clip brings back memories. its funny how a-rod's lips are saying "fuck you" but his face is saying "punch me"
And why did they cut it off? That was one of my favorite MLB moments. Varitek was a boss.
I still miss Tek.
