  • Ever since I opened up about the struggles I went through years ago, the question I get asked the most is: What was your turning point? Here's the event that led to me finally crawling out of my rut and finding my worth and joy again.

Crying with you. 4 years ago I left my abusive ex-husband. Walked out when my son was 2 weeks old, also had a 1 year old, and Autistic 3 year old. We stayed in a friends Motor home, was living off of state aid, and finally got a low income apartment. Found a job I loved, meet the man of my dreams, got married, had a beautiful daughter and just celebrated our 3 year anniversary. I'm glad you made/posted this video. My husband found your channel awhile back and I've been watching you ever since. You matter, ALL women matter! Don't give up even when times are really rough. Thank you for making us Mothers not feel alone.

You are amazing! You should take these stories and publish them.
Been there. Lost my home. (Let's just say that my ex didn't know we were in a same sex relationship when we married. Yes, you can ask.) Lost my professional job. Lost access to my kids because I couldn't afford to go see them. Was couch-surfing homeless for a long 2 years. I have eaten out of a garbage can.
    That was 2011 to 2013.
Now, I write. I am an activist. Ran for office. Going back to school - again. The director of my own nonprofit working to help my People. Best of all, I have a fantastic mother/son relationship!
There is a light at the end of the darkness. We just have to find it. I am sno glad that you, and the other women here, have found that light!

I'm a realist. I'm a guy. I don't buy into pointless optimism. What I love about these videos is that they are not pointless... and they are real. These videos make me feel real optimism. This was a beautiful story. You are always bigger than you feel. You can always be more than the weak voice in your head keeps telling you. Keep searching for what it takes to prove it to yourself. Keep searching and keep doing things, because just thinking about things gets you nowhere. Thanks for sharing this, and all your videos, Kristina. You're awesome!

Thank you, your story brought me into tears...Not tears of sadness, but of gratitude... that no matter how difficult things we experience in Life, there is always hope... And that actually, these things move us to a better place and to a better person... You are awesome

I'm sentimental and a lot of videos make me cry but not to the point where I have to leave the room so my kids don't see what a total mess I've become. Your story is just so touching, the way you cared for strangers and healed yourself. This is what I want humanity to be like.....so nice to know it exists.

5yrs ago I was playing single mom to 3 children (my husband was in Europe and refusing to support us)
Living with my parents and barely making it.
In one week I had a car accident (that would take the last of my money), my father kicked me out of the house and I lost my job.
One thing I've learned in life is that when everything comes crashing in, that's when you get excited because a miracle is about to happen.
I met an angel, my manager's mother who took me into her home with 3 small children even though she didn't know us. My 12 siblings got together and offered me a monthly "allowance" for 6 months! Until the winds of life started changing. I can't express how valuable that time of my life is. I learned so much and was blessed so abundantly I still marvel at the beauty of it all 💖

It works and my son if speaking and truly happy. I feel like i am rhe worst of the worst for the last day i qas running away from him i got a DUI. Just to get away. I never intended on driving that night but had to run. My lowest of lows and everyday i do my best to be more, to be something. I know this was shared years ago but i hope you see this and know that you still inspire people with something simple. Please and absolutely thank you beyond all i could say . Best choice! ♥️ I cried when you welled up about people actually coming to your place and you could feed them. This shows how thankful you were about helping others. Thank you for this video. It is extremely encouraging. I lost my health again, I am in a foreign country, stuck in between 4 walls with a baby whom I adore. I love him and I know that times will get better. My mom was in your former situation: with 2 kids of 6 and 7, out of which one was in a wheelchair (the drs. said, by the way that I will never walk and I do), but she made it through because of the faith in God. We got out of the Communism alive. The only thing that I need to get back is my health. I know it's just a test to get stronger for the next best thing that God will bring in my life. Thank you for sharing this. It encouraged me even more. May you and your family be blessed! :)

Kristina, I'm so happy that you found something to help you crawl out of your rut. I'll be honest, I'm not a mother and I don't plan to become one (at least anytime soon) because I know it's hard, but I respect anyone who IS a parent and able to do all of that. And I have a HELLA lotta respect for you. You are an inspiration to me, not just for being able to do what you do, but because you are true to yourself and encourage others to do the same. And if (or when) the time comes for me to be a parent, I hope to be a mom like you. :)

Yep. I have been there. I turned into a "coupon queen" so to speak and taught free classes on how best to use coupons (I was living in a county where a surprising number of folks needed food badly, including me). I'd buy 4 papers every Sunday so that I could give some coupons away to classes. Even though I'm still a monetarily broke person, I am very lucky. I have a support network that has grown and is steady and stable (there were several times when I was out on that limb with my young son and no one else). Things have changed - as they will. My son is an adult with a wife and kids of his own now. He's doing well for himself and his family. I shared this video on facebook, and have shared some of your comedic musings as well. I wish you peace and happiness.

I love this so much. I am a newly single mom to a beautiful 1 year old girl, living with my parents, going to school full time ( I graduate in a month) and I cannot tell you how many times I have thought "I wish I could afford that" or "I wish I had time to do that" or "I am an awful mom because I go to school and don't see my daughter all day." And I love that I find my hope through helping others. I go to school for Esthetics (skin care) and every single client I have come in tells me how important I made them feel, or how I helped "cleanse" them from a rough day, or some way I made them feel beautiful. Volunteering or helping others really does help you feel so much better about yourself. Thank you for your example. You bring so much hope to me that I will make it through this.

I am crying so hard now. My wife and I are going through really hard time now... She is fully blind and struggling to find work. I can't earn enough for a comfortable living no matter what I do... We have a healthy, happy 2 year old daughter that will hopefully never know how much we struggled to give her what she needs. I'm depressed, we argue, when we never did... It sometimes feels like this hell will never end. So, thank you for that video, it reminded me, that there may be hope yet.

I walk along in my own skin, doing my thing, not telling anyone my story because no one would understand... People might look at me and say "who does that??" and again I would be the fool. Then I watch your videos, and WOW... but then I read the comments! And I realize! I'm not the only one! I'm not alone! Who gets in these crazy situations? Who stays in an abusive relationship? Who gets so low that they go on food stamps and still needs help? ME! Serious looser right here. For years I went to counseling and finally realized that I AM worth the effort of getting up, taking a shower, taking steps to move forward. Now I have the most amazing man who actually loves me for who I really am, 3 step kids who think I'm crazy and wouldn't have me any other way because they actually love me, and I was blessed with a crazy baby 5 years ago... I learned that life is a series of curve balls. For almost 40 years I let them pound me into a pile of goo. Now I hit them out of the park! No, not all of them, but I try... Kristina, I thank God for you, your humor, your love, your nerve to share, your hair, your kids... thank you! XOXO

I freakin' adore you, Kristina! 😍😍😍
I laugh or cry right with you in when I watch your vids, and share them with so many people, including my daughter who is a mom, too.
I had a very traumatic life, and am a complete disaster. I have a plethora of severe psychological and physical health issues. I've always struggled, but about 12 years ago my life really fell apart. I lost everything that mattered over the course of a few months (my daughter (she had to go live with her dad), job, apartment, car, cats, best friend, etc), and sunk to a really low place. Plus my physical health issues started to get worse and worse. I almost completely cut myself off from the world, and rarely got out of bed. I am working on pulling myself out of that hole now, but it is a struggle. What keeps me going on the darkest days, when I literally can't find any reason everyone, including me wouldn't be better off if I just ended it, is helping in some way. I talk candidly about my struggles, I listen when people need to vent, I find resources for people. Whatever works during that moment, but I just try to focus on others, and what I can do to help. When I get thanked for helping someone or being real it is the best feeling EVER! Once I am more stable I plan on doing more.

I am very glad it turned out good for you. You are literally saving many people and giving them hope.
I think the main reason this story was successful is because you've had friends. You've always had somebody to support you, in whatever way they knew.
Some of us aren't so lucky.
Some of us are alone in our deepest misery and there's no one to open the door we're knocking on.
You were rejected, but you tried again, because your willingness to live was still bigger than your desire to end the suffering.
There is also a lot of us with the opposite situation.

I didn't have any family around. And at first, I didn't have a community to support me emotionally either. I had to build it. I had to force myself to join support groups and to socialize and do things that I didn't feel like doing, in order to start building a support system. Being proactive, even when I just wanted to shut myself off from the world and stay in bed, is what saved me. I wish you the best!

@@KristinaKuzmic Thank you. I think your answer just proved what I was trying to say. You were still trying, you were still proactive... and some of us just can't do anything anymore. Some of us are on the bottom, with nothing to reach for. My proactivity died with my willingness to live. Or vice versa. Who cares anyway 😊

Thank You!! I m a single mom ( after 23 years of marriage he became more abusive) of 3 (one autistic son now 25 and another son now 23 and daughter now 18.) It s been a real struggle the last 10 years. I have not had much and it has been rough. My youngest son is going to university next year and my daughter is going to jr. college this fall. my 25 year old autistic son will be 12 forever but I wouldn't change him. we don't have much but we share with each other. my 23 year old son has been postponing university because he doesn't want leave us without another income. I said no you go so you can get a career and never be in this spot again. same to my daughter I want her to have what I couldn't give her. but she said :you gave me life and taught me to keep going no matter what. I work 8 hours 6 days a week but it is at an in home care so I can be available if my son needs me. I have been asking my self what can I do so we don't have to worry about rent payments ect.....I have had some ideas but listened to the voices that always have told me I cant do it. but you just spoke over those and I hear you say I can. don't give up. THANK YOU.

Wow thanks for sharing Kristina, I just love all your videos and I can totally relate to that hopelessness and worthlessness. My life has turned around 9 years ago and it is amazing to look back and see how far I have come. Keep sharing this stuff, this is going to help even more people.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I have gone through some very similar struggles and it's great to hear messages of hope that are realistic. I love that you find peace and happiness in the simple joys of life. I strive to pass those lessons on to my kids and your messages always seem to come right when I need them. Today I was feeling very down and defeated and this was a great reminder. Thank you for being you.

This made me tear up as I went from being an immigrant student with experience and straight As who couldn't even get a job at a cafeteria because I didn't speak the local language perfectly to being someone working in their field for great salary. But I know that feeling of already feeling worthless and that you couldn't feel any worse just to get even lower. It is so important to find something that turns off the voice in your head saying you are nothing. For me it was studying and proving the local xenophobes that immigrants are an asset and not something to fear. This was a great video and i would love to hear more about how things changed for you
