To ask the question, “What gives a game longevity?”, when playing music from RuneScape which is literally double in age to League of Legends is just perfect. And in a way answers the question without needing to watch the rest of the video
5:30 That philosopher was just making really bad and nonsensical attempt to explain the Ship of Theseus philosophical problem...except that the original Ship of Theseus problem is far easier to understand and actually exists and has existed in real life for a long time. Basically, you have a ship, but the ship gets worn down over time (seawater is highly corrosive; metal fatigue is a thing, wood can crack or just get worn down from water exposure, etc.), so you replace the parts that need replacing. But eventually, fewer and fewer parts from the original ship remain, until you get to the point where NONE of the original parts remain. Is it still the same ship? The same is true of the human body. Cells die all the time, including brain cells. New cells, effectively identical, replace them. But after a certain amount of time--I can't remember if it's seven months or seven years--every single cell in your body will be a replacement of what had originally been there. Are you still the same person? Yes, you would argue, because the change was gradual and the continuation of its composition unaltered. But, nonetheless, you are not the same person--in terms of memory, skills, experience, injuries, attitudes and beliefs--that you were seven years ago.
@@ReigoVassal his passive is too distracting to the enemy, making them constantly need focus on one part of the screen in order to play the game correctly. His zoning power is so strong that enemies can’t even approach him without spending a valuable ability of their own. So yeah they need to nerf his movement speed.
then why not make it a toggled ability like Io from dota? Copyright? If a champ has an ability that doesn't fit into the mechanics of a game then what's the point?
teemo's w is move quick. it makes you move quick. new champ's usual abilities make you move quick, dash, deal more damage, apply cc and heal all at once.
I find it really funny how the swift scout has no true mobility when even a bunch of older characters have abilities that increase movement speed and are also an actual ability. Like the passive movement speed is nice I guess but theres nothing that highlights how teemo literally hasn't changed at all more than that.
another example is blitzcrank’s w, it makes him go fast and then it slows him. It slows him. Champions will dash around everywhere and one shot everyone but blitzcranks w still slows him
And yet Jag creates this... "thing" named Akshan that can revive not one, but FOUR teammates. If Aatrox doesn't deserve his own revive (Which was always a part of him) then why Akshan deserves an ability like this? Complete bullshit if you ask me.
This video really just made me realize that the thing every ability or kit that I hate in this game has in common is that it denies the opponent visual clarity on what is occurring.
yeah, either they do not let you see properly to fight back neglecting you vital info, or they stun/knock-up lock you to death while shielding AND healing way to much on repeat, neglecting you basic movement on top of neglecting your own damage, its one of the treatments, worst case, you have to face both in the same game. vision sometimes is a joke, gravious wounds are not enough in most cases, and having to invest in a full item to deal against shields is BS, that right there is 2 full items that you have to go away from your optimal build and invest in to at least play the game while they are chilling, building even more sustain and/or damage without worries
I still stand for a change in his resurrection passive. Move it from the w to the r and it only revive someone if you kill the enemy with your ultimate up or using the ultimate to kill the target
there is one really important reason why his revive mecanic its not on R, its called sylas viego cant use that mecanic unless a very especific set of events happen, he needs to kill akshan, get in, THEN someone kills an ally and viego avenges them, all in the span off 6 secs, it is so hard for that to happen that is neglectable, but have it on R? sylas would abuse that non stop, not even taking into account the coding nightmare that would be
I don't know if you guys play akshan but his revive passive is a complete mess right now. A lot of times people kill allies and are not marked, sometimes marked people don't give track, sometimes, the track is there the mark is there but killing the marked guy gives no gold or revive. Idk, its like a slot machine if it will work or not. About reviving on ultimate kill or ult up his ultimate is so absolutelly useless and counterable that it would turn literally into a passive that revives people, getting it off cooldown wouldn't even be any good. Not that it is right now.
Or just one or two new champs and visual and kit updates. Many champions don't need full reworks Mundo or Fiddles level, but are visually horrendous and that makes them uncomfy to play.
Got back to League of Legends after a 4 year break. We got destroyed by a support Pyke who one shoted me as Shen. This game is not cool anymore. If you don't play new champions, you are doomed to fail.
@@Sol_Official life-steal in the runes, shieldbow, wit's end and randuin. A build that has been around for quite a time that makes Kog'maw literally his mithyc item.
I am still questioning to this day why they removed the Aatrox's Revive. It's what made Aatrox unique. And then this Persian guy comes out who can revive entire teams. This game is getting very frustating to play now as I began playing this game in season 2. Early days were I would say much better in my opinion than this latter seasons.
I mean, Aatrox bangs his head on r and he gets a free guardian's angel, an item no one buys if not for the passive. Why the hell wouldn't they remove such an ability?
Burnout is a real thing. If you've played for years close to a decade. What can you expect. You as a human probably have different outlook on life different life values over the course of a decade. Playing the same video game, and expect burnout from that video game.
I think Riot needs to take a page from Overwatch. In Overwatch when a new hero was released you couldn't pick them in ranked within the first two weeks of them being live. It gave everyone time to learn the hero.
True because the player based evolved so much that we can figure a champ in less than 2 weeks. Like everyone was shit at Akshan now his actually pretty good because no one knew how to play him properly same with Veigo. I think Riot doesn't know how much of big brain the community is.
tbf overwatch's pace is much faster, it revolves around team gameplay more, & the roster is literally a fraction of league's. in league you can play from behind & still participate in gameplay as a champ you've never touched, but in overwatch you're struggling to learn mechanics & at the same learn how to play to your team & help them, there is no playing from behind there. not to mention new league champs are always banned immediately once the patch drops, there's nothing like that in overwatch. also, as someone else said, LoL doesn't need to take notes from overwatch... if anything,
@@flamekite1679 Just because Overwatch is dyeing doesn't mean there is nothing to be learned from it. One can often improve by observing what others are doing and either taking inspiration from it or putting ones own spin on it.
I played Overwatch enough to tell you that this might help the developers figure out if theres something wrong with the champ, but thats about It, nothing about balance, people legit just didnt care and kept playing ranked during those 2 weeks and crossed that bridge when they got to it. Then It gets to ranked and the outrage begins.
"His W passive has a chance to win you a game all by itself or have a massive turnaround for your team" "Blitzcrank's W passive is a self slow" :D 23:55
I quit league last month after 10 years of addiction. It's just not the same to me anymore. Not because of the new champions or updates, but because of the community. You really just cant have fun anymore unless you're in a party of 5 friends. Its just become so mentally and psychologically exhausting to play solo. Now, I just play PowerWash Simulator and its relaxing af.
i mean it cant be help after a long time a game will have alot of "veteran" or "tryhard" and the percentage of newer player will get smaller and smaller so most of the people you face has played it for years and the only thing left for them is climbing rank so they get salty more easily if someone die even once.
I've been playing league for almost 7 years now and I don't play ranked because I can't stand the community. Not that norms are better, but better than ranked at least. And I have spent thousands on skins and lately I have been feeling so upset at the game lately. I'm not a horrible player, but these new metas that make certain champions scale so outrageously strong that you literally can't fight them. No matter what you build. Like, I'm so defeated. I feel like all of my years of playing and money is for absolutely nothing. My match history is gross. Just because I like the older champs. The ones who haven't gotten a rework. And yeah, I could play the overpowered champs, but it shouldn't be that way.
I quit that game. It changed so much for past 2 years (to worse btw) ,that it became frustrating for me to play it. And season 11 was that final nail in the coffin. Riot murdered my favorite class by forcing them to build Goredrinker + Steraks every game or be completly useless.
Totally agree. Case is, once you could buy items to protect yourself against them and they used to make real difference. They have AP? Buy MR so you can survive or fight back. Now it's not even that effective, especially against new champions. İt's all about what champion you are playing. You need CC and Anti heal that's all. Like what the hell is this.
@@walkelftexasranger Yes! Exactly. I am a support main but I play every role, lately ADC. And I literally can't go a game without having to build wits end because every other ADC does and I can't match their attack speed in any other way. @@sertdemir7138 Like Mundo though, I played a norm the other day and there was an enemy Mundo top lane. I was Caitlyn ADC, I had executioners calling and last whisper. So not full items, but supposedly helpful. He didn't even have a Thornmail/bramble and I literally could not kill him. I honestly stopped playing. I just typed in chat because it's like, I can admit when I am outplayed. But there is absolutely no skill whatsoever at running at someone and just not dying. That's just the champion. I've just been so frustrated lol. And now Vex is coming out and we have ANOTHER champ to worry about banning or I guarantee she's gonna be broken or made broken within the few months following her release.
@@mandybrown6915 Yeah, this is main problem. Once we could counter enemies with items or skill play. Mundo, Viego, Yummi is best examples. Re-worked and released champs are OP. They nerfed executioners blade and . Once we could criple healers with grevious wound. Not it's just a "flesh wound". I loved to play supports and now most off the supports are really cannot impact game they could.
Probably impossible because the legion of idiots will probably fail to land every single spell Vex has and call her weak. Unless the champ is brain dead.
@@Exil22 actually thats not a bad idea on release each new champ gets 8% omni vamp and take it away slowly week 2 starts with 5% week 3 with 3% and non on week 4 so new champ have sustain Only on normals ofc since if that champ was something like samira they would have 80% wr on release its basically a push for us to learn how to use the champ maybe not omni vamp but u get the point its 1am im sleepy so this idea might be SUPER BAD
I haven’t finished the video just yet but I think what’s going to kill league is the new player experience. I have a friend that played COD and is in their 30s. Mechanically very solid at controlling her character and moving the camera almost from the start. Grinding through the only available map on summoners rift with everyone being toxic as hell to you because you have no idea how to play made her decide to never play anything but aram after a month of toxicity and no game tutorials that really explain or teach anything made her quit for good. In fact I know a number of people that only want to play aram because the game itself is toxic to players new and old alike.
Happened to my girlfriend who tried playing with me recently. She was a natural adc and played mechanically very well as she played Overwatch for years but the amount of information she just didnt know greatly hurt her fun nit to mention the toxicity
This so much. I love the idea of league as a game with a deep complex strategic layer. I barely ever play pvp because I can't stand how often i get in a game with toxic players. All it takes is ~5% of the player base to be toxic to ruin ~50% of my pvp games.
This is also the reason why some hated the idea of Trent Forest being removed. People would go there to either learn some champion or take a break from toxicity (specially after the variety of game modes started to disappear). Even if a game mode or map isn't played that much, I feel that reducing the options ends up forcing you to interact with toxic players.
Exil, I really think your work trancends League, the way you do these documentaries is just pure art and brings me a lot of peace and tons of information, you're a fucking diamond in this community man thanks for existing and I hope to someday get on your level like holy fuck this editing.

I remember when the Irelia rework came out. I personally didn't play her save maybe one or two games, nor did I play old Irelia, but as a top lane main I was familiar with the matchup. When her rework came out, for about 4-6 months, I bulldozed just about every single Irelia player I went up against in the early game with any of my top picks, being Nasus Yorick and Kayle. My end of the year stats told me my most won against matchup was Irelia. It took me some time to realize, it was because nobody knew how to play her, and I was leaving these Irelias in the dust. After about six months however, people managed to get the hang of the new Irelia and I found the tables turned the other way around, with me either getting my own doge, angel, or ghoulish body pounded into the dirt completely, or it being a very close skill oriented matchup that I needed to be very wary about. It's still like that today, and I find it rather enjoyable.
Iriela needs a nerf fact, witch all the ones you mentioned you use for top fact. There are others that need a nerf like caitlyn, lux, teemo, everything about the game is unbalanced.
Honestly I'd say they need to take a break from releasing new champs and just focus on balancing and reworking the current roster. Another big change would be for riot to realize that stuffing everything and the kitchen sink into a champs kit makes for toxic gameplay. Some of the best champs in the game, both in healthy gameplay and ease of balance, are the simple and straight forward champs. If they have to keep releasing new champs at least go back to the mindset of simple and specialized vs the current mindset.
@@Tokumastu1 so, u playing melee toplane, what do u do? U cant trade with him, coz of passive and w, u cant burst him, coz of w, u cant walk to ur minions, coz of his stun. @@hamzasami8362 rather have a tank meta at this point, tanks are currently next to useless compared to carries and the game's devolved into a gimmicky point-click oneshot-fest
I kind of agree. The game is for me personally now days way to fast and way to flashy it is rare that a camp is picked the has not some kind of mobility spell unless they are unlikable/overstated adc is the exception if you have a pelling support. Just lowering the dmg would not be a good solution there has more to be done. Many champs are bad if the game is to fast but every champ has better potential if the game is slower since there is more time for a comeback or for you to make a mistakes. I prefer a slow scaling meta because of this reason it a harder time for assassin sure but a snowball can start rolling. Picking a zyra, zielian or ramus puts you sadly into a worse position and the competitiv spirit even in normal games mean you get judged for try to have fun regardless of the result.
@@TodaWars comebacks have stopped existing entirely because of the fact that games are so fast now, only time you ever see a swing is if the enemy fucks up their lead
It's funny the second you said "this can all date back to Zoe" 11:35 it triggered something. This is the exact moment I started losing interest, and worse HOPE for the future of the game. I began to care less about the game and become tilted and get chat restrictions when normally I've never even had a chat restriction since beginning in season 3. I have played little to no league since the release of Samira.
these grass eating animals really think this game is a PVE where you start killing mindlessly without any macro knowledge. Every single champion they're putting out is an anime protagonist who always does what he feels right, when he wants, where he pleases. This game is actively loosing the strategy aspect of it and it's becoming dopamine rat fuel.
I really wish Riot kept like archived versions of old season to go back to or something. I know it would NEVER happen, but I'd also love to see what League would be like if it didn't update for a year, seeing new metas emerge or people discovering hidden op strats or builds.
@@coffee0093 I think so many people were moving to Old League of Legends that Riot was desperate to get them back into S11 lmao. Can't blame 'em though, they need money, and losing player counts is losing money as well. And unfortunately, to keep up an older version of League would be more trouble for them than worth.
I remember a video of you saying Ekko was overloaded back then. Now that champ looks like a joke next to Akshan. The problem with Akshan is that the revive and his grapling hook should have been the center of his game play, but they addes so many small things like the 3 hit passive, the shield, and the strange autoattack behavior that it make Akshan feel overloaded. The stealth works in part because of the hunting down scoundrels and that, and his ultimate too, but why did they have to complicate him that much giving him extra unnecessary features? They could just remove the 3 hit passive, give him normal autoattacks and remove the shield and in compensation give him more flat damage, ms, resistances. Same with Aphelios. They could have automated the leveling up by giving him just flat AD and AS each time he levels up, since all the focus of the champ should be on the weapon manipulation which is by itself quite complex.
The champs lack focus that they all come out feeling sort of lame in my book Jack of all trades master of none is cool when it’s done once or twice but when everybody’s a Swiss Army knife they stop having a unique identity and start to feel like “just another new champ”.. kinda ironic
@@MrLethalZero Akshans passives: Lucian passive, Gnar W(passive), Kled q "passive"(revealing the targetd hit by q), sivir passive in his q passive(if he hits a champion), Garen R passive, Draven passive with changes, if you can his W teemo passive it counts, his E has the Katarina passive. So 7-8. Edit: I forgot GA passive for allies on his W, so 8-9.
I happen to find new mechanics introduced to the game gamebreaking. It seems that every new champion has a new mechanic thas wasn´t in the game, like Akshan revive, Viego literally being able to play as 6 characters, Gwen's new kind of immunity. It's difficult to adapt to changes so different and sort of game breaking if we are getting a new mechanic to learn every 2 weeks
You forgot AKali's rework in the " weak " release, even when she was completely busted, she was actually strong only in the good players hands and never had a really good winrate
akali is probably one of the best designed champs (after w turret stealth removed and r became targeted). in my opinion most new champs since zoe release have been a shitshow, making their own game impossible to balance.
I remember when Bard came out, he was considered as one of the weakest support ever. Honestly even if he was, he still felt nice to play. I think new champions should start very weak so people don't feel cheated when facing them ... but need 2 weeks to 1 month of being tested to actually tell if a buff is required or not. Bard had received nerfs due to reasons you mentionned, but the base was solid and that's what matters most.
The issue is if a champ is bad on release they never gain a player base, and even if they're buffed down the line people still arent likely to pick them up, see Illoai for a example
@@ericcb1 I understand that however I'd rather have a small pool of player interested enough in the champ to test him than to have a huge number of people asking for buff and nerf only one week after the release. I feel like it's a more trustworthy sample even if it doesn't really represent a good majority of the playerbase.
In my opinion the thing that Riot does best is the characters (sort of). I don't know any other game that has a character that plays anything like Vel'koz and I'm pretty excited for Vex.
I would say Heroes of the storm. For the flaw the game has i excels in Hero variety ,cho+gal one body that is controlled by 2 players. Abatur similar to yumi, but he is global as support only but the you miss out on the long range part. Zagara some how summon minions to attack. Rexa, has his own permanent tibers that count as full hero. Murky a glas cannon whit the main job to suppress the enmies since his respawn timer is 5 seconds if he placed an egg. You could probaly look in the removed "spezialist" section know they call all dd.
I said this in another video for Skooch i think. Seraphine was a test to see if they could create a character solely to milk her with an ultimate skin. Akshan was a test to make someone blatantly broken, but "balance" it around having lower numbers.
Riot balance team needs to realize a simple factor that can affect a champions pick or win rate: humanity. largely players and the champion have a similar personality or feel attached, a certain champion or its playstyle naturally will have a higher win rate.
There's some flaws with this thinking, but generally I'd agree. Just because I think Rengar or Kindred is super cool does not mean that I will win more with them. It _does_ increase the chances that I'll be willing to put time into improving with them though, rather than moving on to a different champion. Also, Riot is relatively aware of this already. The "humanity factor / appeal" is why they're having trouble justifying the creation of new monster champions. I'm down for people to enjoy their human champion counterpart, but for those of us who really enjoy monster champions it's unfortunate to wait years to find one that you like due to how slowly they're created (not to mention the current trend of 'humanizing' monster champions to make them hunky and sell better @Thresh @Yuumi @Xerath).
@@The23rdGamer you didnt get what I meant, Im more lean towards the abilities they design rather than personality, which it is also a factor as well but, if they design an unhealthy kit or abilities that is set to get you kills, players will obviously look for int 1v1s, and play like a hungry thirsty kill slut, but if the champion is designed around objectives and team mate or fight aspects, players will naturally lean to be a more helpful ally. yet we havnt had those for a long while, but a full of overloaded kits to out trade or out duel your opponent.
The problem besides new champions releasing the way they do is that Riot literally seems not to care about certain champs or classes and in some cases actually deletes them. I used to like playing Old Taric, Old Yorick, Old Urgot, Old Ezreal, Old Akali, Old Shen, and all the old items and now they are gone forever, never to return for the foreseeable future. And now my favorite champion I started playing since Season 7ish and Season 8 Xerath is just left completely neglected. Things clicked for me and he was my favorite champion, similar to your experience with Lilia. Unfortunately, ever since then I've just been seeing him systemically indirectly nerfed: mage item reworks, mage reworks in S8, assassins galore in the meta (Zed, Katarina, Qiyana, etc.), Zoe (lol), bruisers (Irelia for instance) in the mid lane, and now the new items, which by the way all the mage items just plain suck compared to any other class' item. And since he isn't viable mid, I am forced to only play him support and even that isn't that viable compared to other picks. Not to deny the fact he has only received buffs and I am appreciative of that; it still never fixed his problem of peel or some sort of utility to get all of these champs off of him to at least be somewhat viable in the meta. So now that one of my only favorite thing about this game is basically unplayable... is sad. Long gone are the days of Old League of Legends where you could farm up and scale and be useful and at least have fun games compared to now. At the end of the day, it's just a game and if I'm not having fun I ain't playing it; simple as that and I am not going to subject myself further to playing this unfun game, which was once a really enjoyable experience. I hope that one day Riot wakes up and smells the coffee, I really do. I know I'm just a random dude on the internet and my opinion means almost nothing, but I feel like I needed to get this out one way or another.
I had that one game where my kha'zix got a triple kill and we were already standing in their base about to end the game. Akshan ignited that kha'zix just before he got deleted himself but kha'zix also died to the ignite and just like that we couldn't end because three of the enemy team were revived. Akshan is that champion who forces you to avoid dying at all costs while only having to press one button to save/carry the entire game.
I personally think one of the things that makes this game so unenjoyable compared to previous seasons issue fact that everything has become less and less skilled with each patch. There have also been many other changes recently that have added frustrating mechanics to play against, some with little to no counterplay (at least that I’m aware of). Here are the problems I’ve encountered: -Can no longer QSS knock-ups (Lee Sin, Vi and Nautilus can’t be dodged), Riot we’re going to make tenacity reduce the length of them because of this, but decided not to. I once saw a Kalista QSS out of an inSec in pro play, which was extremely impressive and skilled, plus all those amazing Chinese Lee Sin blast cone cleanse plays were extremely creative -Targeted (lock-on) stuns/fears last too long (should be shorter than skill shots) -Rammus can jump on you, Ryze and Twisted Fate can stun you for hours with Everfrost -Melee champs like Nocturne and Darius can slow you with Stridebreaker -Adcs have up to 3 dashes with Galeforce and flash -Samira can wind wall your spells (because fuck supports.. and poor Braum) -Shieldbow activates automatically and blocks 1k+ damage late-game (should be an active in my opinion) -Duskblade makes champions like Master Yi and Kha’Zix untargettable for entire fights (just remove Umbral Glaive already and give it the sweeper passive again, no one buys that trash) -Bruisers have 2 magic resist items (Riot claimed they were adding more 8+ months ago but that never happened) -Certain hitboxes are misleading (Ashe ult, Yone ult, etc) -There are several anti-heal items yet only a single anti-shield one -Invisibility has no real counterplay (maybe add a support item that grants true sight for a few seconds) -On-hit item damage is absurd and can be in the thousands with only a few hits, plus Rageblade procs Vayne’s W passive + Kraken Slayer twice -Of the past 10 champions released; 6 of them are auto attack-based champs -Sheen costs 350 gold less, meaning Gangplank, Nasus and Camille’s power spikes can’t be delayed by bullying them out of lane early (like you can with Lost Chapter for mages) -Despite adding Mythic items for extra build diversity, everyone is forced to build the same items every game. Yasuo/Yone rushes Shieldbow into Infinity Edge, Riven rushes Goredrinker into Cleaver 100% of the time, etc I’m sure there are plenty more, but these are from the top of my head. I’m not trying to be too negative, and I’m sure I could list many good things about the game too, but I feel that over the past year or two, the list of positives has been getting a lot slimmer and I’m starting to dislike this game more, despite it once being my passion. Feel free to share anything else I may have missed or introduce your own thoughts or arguments. Thanks!
Man this is so true... Honestly I haven't played LoL that much ever.. I only have 1 account and its still level 23 lolol. However.. I used to watch OGN from 2012-2014 A LOT... MVP Ozone will always be my favorite team :P anyways.. man back in those days it really seemed like you had to have amazing mechanics with the champion you picked..not to mention good macro/micro skills... this is why watching the Korean scene was so entertaining everyone was so amazing and teams were diverse in the way that they played/strategy they used. Also blind pick man... that was SO HYPE..and especially SSW in S4 worlds.. man they played the game to perfection. I also feel there was more strategy back then with The lane swaps/rotations.. or deciding to fight over dragon or go after towers instead. Vision control.. Ect, ect. Sometimes Less is more.. and I feel like that is true here with league.. after season 4 they changed a lot of the game.. the great Korean exodus happened.. Monte and doa left ;( OGN died :(.. there are no flashy plays or insane outplays you used to see. It feels like they added so much to the game and that made it easier for people to play. Which in turn became less entertaining to watch. I watched S11 world final and it was so boring. These are just my thoughts as an avid watcher back in the day. I will forever be watching old school OGN vods :P
That bit about cells is simply a retelling of Ship of Theseus discussed by Plato, Plutarch and others (I don't know why I had a need to comment this fact but here you go i guess :D)
Akshan is the champ made when Riot goes "What if we combine all the most broken parts of Sivir, Twitch, Camille, Vayne, and half a dozen others all into one champ at the same time?" High mobility, infinite stealth, 3 hit passive, health shield, a lock on for autos, and something that removes ally death timers. Yep, it's another super overloaded, overpowered new champ. You could easily remove 2/3 the stuff in his kit and he'd be a perfectly fine normal champ, but no Riot has to put 3+ champs worth of mechanics into one. His passive is literally Lucian's but better, with Gnar W passive and a hp shield tacked on. His Q is Sivir's but better, with the range extension mechanic of Seraphine ult and it also reveals enemies hit. His W is Twitch Q but better, with Vayne passive tacked on and lasts indefinitely, and lets you remove ally death timers. It also heavily promotes a very toxic playstyle where instead of helping your team and joining a fight, it actually wants you to just sit back and let your team die, just wait for the end, then finally go in. His E is Camille E but better, with Samira E reset and Urgot W aa lock-on tacked on. His Ult is Cait R combined with Jhin R, but better because it also has the Lucian R "can move and cast E while channeling" tacked on. Gotta love how Riot can't make any new champs that are actually interesting to play as _and_ against. Also, it's kinda funny how you say you thought Yone would kill Yasuo because he'd be the same but better, when that exact situation literally actually happened with Sona and Seraphine. Riot made a new champ that stole Sona's entire gimmick (music mage) and nearly the same kit but better in every way and in multiple roles, solely to sell her shitty "ultimate" skin that is just three 1350 skins stapled together, and released her as a whole new champ instead of a Sona rework just to milk money from idiots that bought her terrible skin. Not to mention how badly they had to try to twist the lore to attempt to fit Seraphine into it - forcing it so bad they had to retcon major parts of her lore immediately after her lore was released.
He is created by Jag, the guy who was once a Diamond ADC Main (if I remember correctly) so it's not a surprise since he have to get back there somehow even if it means combining all of his fav champs into one, after all that would make his job way too easy right? He also created abominations like the Reworked Aatrox and Seraphine so all I can say about him is that he never fails to dissapoint the community.
@@iiiivvvv9986 Everyone says it's Vayne's because Vayne and Akshan are both ADCs. It's just yet another 3-hit passive, so there are plenty of other champs it can be compared to: Jax, Vi, Gnar, Vayne, Ekko, Tahm Kench, Kindred, Kraken Slayer, etc
@@LadyTsunade777 well yes, but Still calling it vayne's passive is false advertising on the level of snake oil salesmen or sleazy politicians. Vayne does massive present health true damage because that is literally her entire identity, akshan just hits that little bit harder every three hits. See the difference?
@@iiiivvvv9986 There's a difference between two ranged ADCs with three-hit auto-attack passives that both do extra damage? Also, it's laughable that you're stooping to using buzzwords like "false advertising", "snake oil", and "politician", considering I don't even work for Rito and I'm actively criticizing Akshan, not promoting him.
Roughly 4 years ago I quit the game after Sona 2.0 was released looking at the current state of the game and seeing Akshan's (?) Kit made me jaw drop at how retarded that is, I mean a Revive on his W passive like bloody hell count me out on coming back to the game, I mean if Riot keeps designing champion that are practically made for team play and yet they're able to 1v9 I'll avoid the game completely and avoid lowering my life span by a few years trying to not to get frustrated over a champion that can barely be touched and yet can screw you over just by looking at you.
I liked your story about clicking with Lillia. I had the same thing with her but even more so with Rell. Level 7 mastery with Rell 3 days after her release. Still my main.
I haven't played in so long and yet I watch videos like this. I want the game to be fun and successful, but there has just been changes that took away or changed what I once liked about the game. And while most of it is still there, it's lots of little things compiling that do the trick of me rather playing something else even if I'm in the mood for LoL. To say it lightly, while the game doesn't pull me in as much as it used to, those videos cover the "why" and "how" it is like this and that makes them amazing. Dissecting the reasons for why LoL has been on a slope for many lately gives such a intriguing perspective, that the videos basically transcendent the game's legacy. Maybe it will come back in the future, but at this point and time, especially where own life is busier than ever, the background info from riot themselves and analysis content like this have a much greater value than playing the game... And are better for the mood at that as well.
The older seasons were so good compared to now, I agree, it kinda immortalizes those years in history even if they weren't perfect because well... it was still the golden age.
Players: Riot, please buff this champion! Their so bad!!! Riot: Okay. *Buffs the champion.* Players: WTF RIOT WHY DID YOU BUFF THIS CHAMPION, THEIR SO BROKEN NOW WTF WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS??????
The biggest problem is the obscure matchmaking system, like other games and from players experience, it's a casino based model, throw a win there and here and keep you playing as long as possible without caring at all for fair matches
Watching this video I am just glad that these problems that I have been talking about for a solid 7 or so years (yes they have existed to a lesser degree for that time and longer) are finally getting the playerbases attention, I just hope Riot fixes some of their problems. Thanks for talking about them, Exil. Having other people talk about it actually relieves a ton of frustration I had about them.
I think riot should start putting an "Score" for all champions, damage, suns, dashes, everything should have a "point", and a champion couldn't pass this score, never.
Seems too simplistic. Sett doesnt have a massive amount of dashes or stuns, but his numbers are a bit overtuned rn. Champion balance is too complex to boil down to a single number, imo
“Don’t see anyone using the stealth to sneak into lane” bro I was a teemo main for season 8, yeah I abuse yeah shit now. I got a 54% wr on Akshan and I adore the champ. Even if he was hard nerfed I would play him still.
wow you have the average winrate on a disgustingly overtuned broken champion! better buy all his skins so riot keeps churning these abominations out bro!!!
@@superlad6684 I dont like the akshan skins for one lmfao. I think I have purchased a total of 3 skins in my years of playing the game. oh and my winrate is 55% now ;P
I think it's a good thing that champions are slightly OP on release. It makes people play the champion and when more people play the champion, Riot get more data about how the champion is build and what the champions playstyle is supposed to be like making it easier to give the champion an identity and removing unnecessary utility making it easier to balance later on.
A couple months ago, a friend was watching me play and during the loading screen said, "I haven't seen this new champ before. What do they do?" To which I responded, "You know...I actually don't have time to answer that."
Have to agree, i too tried Lillia and fell inlove with her. She is SOOO fun to play and so satisfying when you put in effort to her. It’s the same with Seraphine, thought i would hate her in support, but she extremely fun and Satisfying to play and turn a massive fight into your favour.
Been like 3+ years since I last played league, and I gotta say, I've loved all the vid's you've continued doing. From past game modes to certain champion's, your style has kept me engaged for a long time, even tho I haven't played it in a long time. Thank you!
I do agree the champions releases have been very problematic in many ways. But I think League's biggest problem is that a game that relies on teamwork (inarguably more than any other mainstream game) and has a competitive community and professional scene/history bigger than most other games now, has no built-in voice comms. For a game that requires an insane amount of communication: tracking of the jungler, tracking of summoner spell cooldowns, macro decisions, teamfight decisions, etc. to not have voice comms has ALWAYS been a huge issue. Content creators have been begging Riot for this implementation for years yet Riot does nothing. I really think it damages the competitive experience as whole and makes the community less connected and seem more toxic.
@@waaghghazghkull6362 EXACTLY. All games would seem as "toxic" as League is if they had no voice comms. It's just so harmful for the community and really gives it a bad reputation.
As a Dota 2 player, i can say that the ingame voice comms are very nice in high elo ranked, but on low elo everyone its only flaming everywhere. Also, nice seeing you here Stevie
Until riot actually invests time and effort into refining the summoner's code and its punishments, this will not be a thing. Its so easily solved though, allow ppl to easily mute their voice. As sm1 with adhd tho, hard screaming into the mic unless there's a mute option, but what do i know, it's slightly diff when it feels like im playing with a team than 4 randoms.
It's interesting to see different perspectives for how people find their favorite champs. For me, I mained Zed before I even owned him. Literally, the moment I saw him I just knew he was my favorite champ and was going to be my main. And this is coming from someone who, at the time, barely played the game/knew what was even happening. It was the first time I opened up the champion shop and I was just looking through the champs. Me, a level 6 noob or something like that. I think thresh JUST came out at the time so it was a long time ago. But as soon as I saw him it was literally love at first sight. It was like I suddenly just found an obsession. I wanted to play Zed. It wasn't even playing league to me for the first couple seasons I've played, it was playing Zed. His theme, his look, his abilities. It all just clicked with me. I literally loved that champ. Nohomo. I didn't have enough IP to buy him yet when I first saw him so I binged hours of montages and Zed tips and tricks videos before I happened upon the famous Faker vs. Ryu clip. That basically sealed the deal. I literally knew his entire kit before I even touched him in-game because of how many videos I've watched on Zed. And when I finally got him and played him. It just clicked perfectly. It was pure bliss. Not an ounce of clunkiness, of unfamiliarity, or struggle. You know? That feeling when you play the champ, and it just. Works. You play good. You feel good. It's fun. And you're just in bliss? His kit was just so smooth, it made perfect sense, it felt like fate. I played Zed. And played Zed. and played Zed. I wanted to completely master Zed. But as I got better with Zed, I had a realization at some point. That I needed to actually learn the game and improve at the game rather than.. well. Zed. So eventually, I started playing League of Legends. And well, here I am. Still playing. (Though I started playing on and off because I guess I burnt myself out. I had like a 1-2 year break and binged CSGO through like Season 6-7 xD Season 8 I started playing league again). But it's crazy how if Zed didn't exist, I literally wouldn't have played league much at all. A single champ kept me playing for the first couple years. So yeah, I understand that part about the champion just clicking when you first play them. Though, for me it was everything that clicked. Thanks for coming to my ZED talk! oh yeah, yasuo also caught my eye and clicked. just not as perfectly as Zed
i just recently got out of my heavy addiction because i realised how shit it was, i mean i was permanently angry and i spent like 9 hours a day playing it
@@Mondray123 woah, that's too brave for me, i actually have it on my computer but one bad game and i leave, not like back then, when i would rage q 7 more games
How about after every champ release, for 14 days its only available in normals and then ppl can pick it in ranked. And I know this sounds crazy ..... but what if we give each player 2 bans??
2 bans would make me so happy. Yeah, Shaco and Zed mains would never be able to play, but at least that’ll get Riot to update them and make them less frustrating to play against.
Aside for your take being completely: - legit - understandable - relatable - CORRECT You know what really stood out to me in your video? The fact that you found a rare clip of Tyler1 being reasonable: 10:00 xD Thanks for this video mate!
Dude I love that you use the RuneScape soundtracks, even though it’s the new editions it still brings so much nostalgia to me and really sets the atmosphere for these videos
its hard to be impactful when you either need to get super fed early game or wait till 25 minutes pass to deal damage or even reach similar speed of previous one
Akshan will push more people away from the game because the moment he becomes viable. He becomes op. Like vlad, ryze, yuumi, sylus, that viego thing and so on. Their passives and abilities are game breaking
Riot is sure more interested in selling skins than making the game better, or even keep it good... as most of players complain the quality has dropped, with how bad the rank system is now and how people abuse it to get into higer ranks than they should be, making solo q experience a shit show, having champions thrown into oblivion for the sake of new champions, you have like almost 200 options to play with, only 30 are actually good and viable if you want to be competitive... Riot spent way more money developing skin packs and themes, than it would ever spend into fixing the problems of the game, they could hire a pretty decent team of people for like a year and a half with the entire budget of the first KDA promo (developing + publicity), but a better game does not make as much money as flashy skins to popular champions
What you were talking about with the cell thing is just a twist on The Ship of Theseus. If a ship goes to sea and needs repairs when it comes back and you put new wood on after so many trips it's all new parts at what point is it a new ship or is it ever a new ship? Edit: I spelled sea as see....
The answer is actually pretty simple. It's "The ship of theseus". The name is composed of what the object is, a ship, and who it belongs to, to theseus. The ship of theseus only stops being the ship of theseus when it stops belonging to theseus or stops being a ship. Most of league's old playerbase and content creators have already left the game, so I think we're there already.

It's a similar case in mid to high elo as well. The item rework was so unnecessary, it only accelerated the lack of balance that was already happening.
@@Tokumastu1 I’m just fed up of buying Goredrinker + Cleaver on Riven EVERY GAME (not exaggerating, literally the only 2 first items) or Shieldbow + Infinity Edge on Yasuo/Yone. I miss trying new viable things like old Death Dance (with the lifesteal) or Essence Reaver rush Riven, etc. No more Tiamat active makes a lot of champs more boring too, like Trynd, Camille, Warwick. The most fun I had with this game was when the runes were updated and they added many new play styles and build options, which was extremely fun, especially since you didn’t have to buy them anymore. It just doesn’t feel as fun anymore.
@@obsessedwithcats Indeed. Every game boils down to getting the same mythic item combo online. Hell for mid lane it's just everfrost +cosmic drive for all mages, maybe a void staff once in blue moon. This season is just so stale and lifeless.
@@Tokumastu1 Yeah, it’s kinda sad. I love the assassin glass cannon play style for Riven, but it just doesn’t work anymore. You get absolutely one-shot by anything and you do the same damage as if you went Gore & Cleaver. I don’t even get why, it’s so weird.
oh you're an enchantress with a shield? you entire concept is to shield heal and kite for your adc? well FUCK YOU boom here every ad champion have this cool item that destroyes all shields, so basically a mini rell Q in your entire kit!
Heimerdinger passive: 20% movement speed increase near allied turrets. Modern-day passive: Whenever you basic-attack an enemy champion 3 times, gain a stack. A 4th basic attack grants two stacks. At 5 stacks, your next ability consumes the stacks and grants the following abilities: Q - Gain 6% lifesteal and 10% movement speed per stack for 8 seconds. Basic attacks stun enemy champions for 1.5 seconds during this duration. W - 40% increased crit rate and 50% increased crit damage for 7 seconds. E - Gain a protective aura that reduces incoming damage by 30% and resurrect upon taking lethal damage for 6 seconds. While the effects from consuming the stacks are active, the rate of acquiring stacks is doubled.
Overkitted and overturned new champs and items ruined the core game that we knew and love to please/increase viewership . A champ dev literally watched Akame Ga Kill and said let’s make that a champ ! Oh and we’ll give her a stronger Camille ult. New and innovative isn’t necessarily good. League isn’t stale because there isn’t enough to do . It’s stale because there is TOO much to do and it’s impossible to balance. I’m an adc main and anyone can look at me and I’ll die . It’s impossible to climb anymore. I have to play out of my mind to gain LP
Things that I would change (gut) in Akshan’s kit: -Passive: Removed speed burst, instead, every AA gives him a tiny shield, the longer he autos the more the shield will grow till a cap. -Q: Either reveals or extends with champion hit, not both. -W: Revived passive moved to Ult, no longer unlimited stealth or mana regen, instead duration slightly extended and gets a modest move speed buff near terrain, stronger against scoundrels. E: Unchanged. R: Revive now only counts on champion kills, not takedowns while ability is not on CD. Execute damage slightly higher to compensate passive change. If champion successfully executed, he gets a second possible revive on CD. This makes him more straightforward while keeping most of his identity. Heavily rewards AS and staying in fights.
Always so refreshing to see your takes on league, honestly your videos raise my moral and keep me from loosing my mind while I play this game thanks Mr Exil
I think what we really need to talk about more is that every new champion on release has a negative impact on a very large number of players. Everyone either dreads having the champ on their team, or dreads fighting them. There have been no champion releases in recent history that people feel are both cool and unoppressive. That is a massive problem. Sett was one of the last champions Riot released that felt cool and simple enough that people seemed overall content with him. They have since succeeded in turning him into a gimmick, but that's another topic. I'm gonna throw a massive concept out there, see if you can follow this: designs can be simple AND fun. There are a lot of benefits to that. When a design is simple, teammates are not so worried about how that new champ will perform when it's on their team. They understand it, and are satisfied playing with it. When a design is simple, enemies can adapt to the flow of gameplay and reference other, similar kits to help them navigate this new one. They understand it (and it doesn't immediately beat their ass), and they are satisfied playing against it. That's really it. You introduce a new champ with new lore and cool new visuals, and people will play it even if there's no essay in the tooltips or stupid damage numbers. Everyone ends up having fun with a fresh new face in the game. You don't need to alienate any part of your audience. I don't understand what's so fucking hard about that. Oh yeah, and something something power/mobility creep.
blame the "outplays" sht. players these days want flashy stuff and easy way to win. i blame the players that have 300+ hours on a champ that do flashy, mechanical outplays to upload on YT or forums to showoff, that leads to others to do the same. Esports? nobody wants to watch a 50mins boring game
The only thing people complained about of akshan is the passive of the w. All I read is that he is very fun to play but the w is a little bit too much overpowered. And almost everyone I know likes viego, he gets better and worse times but he is indeed a fun champion and not a fucking shit to play against like cassio. People just like to complain
i lost interest in this game around the time yasuo was added. along with having several passive abilities, his windwall ability was stronger than braum's wall skill, a character whos whole premise is being a wall for his allies
Your comment is why i dont take people who complain about League serious, Braum has a CC on his passive, w is a armor/magic resist boost and ult is a huge knockup.
I started playing again this week after a year. Been playing this game since season 3 and honestly I just don't have fun anymore... it's a shame because my friends still like to play and I love playing with them. I don't know if it's nostalgia or what but the more they change the game, the old champions and the items the less I like it...
Bro akshan had so many unique and cool abilities that could’ve become the core identity of new champs. Imagine if we got: - A dedicated marksman with the ability to tether to terrain, making them able to swing in and out of combat from crazy angles (finally able to use the alcove for more than just lane ganks) - A melee toplaner who’s AA was the single hit grant movespeed vs. double hit deals more damage, allowing for insane high risk microplays - A low-damage support, where getting a kill as them gave them a “charge” on their ultimate to channel revive one teammate of choice at the fountain, forcing the team to trade gold on a non-carry in exchange for a game-winning revive But instead they cram it all into one lousy-ass package, make all the cool passives and abilities weak to the point where it’s unnoticeable and all of the potentially revolutionary new abilities go down the gutter.
After playing for around a decade finally gave the game up. I miss it at times but know the flaws of the game arent going to be overcome. Its not worth the insane time sink waiting for rito to acknowledge your champ exists and be on the ban chopping block for those 2 weeks.
Flaws lol? Over dramatic hardstucks blame their champ instead of themselves because they can’t climb. This season has had so many off meta picks climb high on the ladder. It even had Top lane lee sin. If your bad just admit it and move on stop acting like it’s Riots fault you suck.

I feel like a big Issues these days are not only the kits being overloaded but mostly the PASSIVE SPELLS are overloaded. Because sometimes you have champs like Aphelios who literally have wikipedia in their passive spell. And then you have champions like Pantheon or Aurelion Sol just Having A passive that is literally THE ENTIRE CHAMPIONS KIT. They only exist by the passive cuz it's something that would be usually a sub-passive from a different spell on newer champions. On Pantheon it could be a passive on q and on aurelion it could be the passive on w.

That philosopher was just making really bad and nonsensical attempt to explain the Ship of Theseus philosophical problem...except that the original Ship of Theseus problem is far easier to understand and actually exists and has existed in real life for a long time.
But, nonetheless, you are not the same person--in terms of memory, skills, experience, injuries, attitudes and beliefs--that you were seven years ago.
who else thinks that akshan would be an okay champ if he didn't have the w passive?

then why not make it a toggled ability like Io from dota? Copyright? If a champ has an ability that doesn't fit into the mechanics of a game then what's the point?
@@ReigoVassal wait,a bug now make Aurelion Sol can hide in brush? We better make his ult deal 0 damage.
teemo's w is move quick. it makes you move quick. new champ's usual abilities make you move quick, dash, deal more damage, apply cc and heal all at once.
I find it really funny how the swift scout has no true mobility when even a bunch of older characters have abilities that increase movement speed and are also an actual ability. Like the passive movement speed is nice I guess but theres nothing that highlights how teemo literally hasn't changed at all more than that.
Its because only Teemo can truly *move quick* all the others just imitate moving quick.
another example is blitzcrank’s w, it makes him go fast and then it slows him. It slows him. Champions will dash around everywhere and one shot everyone but blitzcranks w still slows him

That is truly insightful.
yeah, either they do not let you see properly to fight back neglecting you vital info, or they stun/knock-up lock you to death while shielding AND healing way to much on repeat, neglecting you basic movement on top of neglecting your own damage,
its one of the treatments, worst case, you have to face both in the same game.
vision sometimes is a joke, gravious wounds are not enough in most cases, and having to invest in a full item to deal against shields is BS, that right there is 2 full items that you have to go away from your optimal build and invest in to at least play the game while they are chilling, building even more sustain and/or damage without worries
Gwen with redsmite and exhaust.
It's so cancer. You have true damage while the enemy has none.
I still stand for a change in his resurrection passive. Move it from the w to the r and it only revive someone if you kill the enemy with your ultimate up or using the ultimate to kill the target
Wow that's logical. They'd never think of that.
there is one really important reason why his revive mecanic its not on R, its called sylas
viego cant use that mecanic unless a very especific set of events happen, he needs to kill akshan, get in, THEN someone kills an ally and viego avenges them, all in the span off 6 secs, it is so hard for that to happen that is neglectable, but have it on R? sylas would abuse that non stop, not even taking into account the coding nightmare that would be
Tie it to his passive, yet put a level requirement for it to activate. Done.
I think it would be awesome if Riot spent a whole year doing visual updates to old champs instead of making lackluster new champs.
I think they're at the point of needing to polish what's already out there before adding anything.
Or just one or two new champs and visual and kit updates. Many champions don't need full reworks Mundo or Fiddles level, but are visually horrendous and that makes them uncomfy to play.

Yeah overwatch, such an alive game, surely they need to do things the same to be as alive as overwatch.
tbf overwatch's pace is much faster, it revolves around team gameplay more, & the roster is literally a fraction of league's. in league you can play from behind & still participate in gameplay as a champ you've never touched, but in overwatch you're struggling to learn mechanics & at the same learn how to play to your team & help them, there is no playing from behind there. not to mention new league champs are always banned immediately once the patch drops, there's nothing like that in overwatch.
also, as someone else said, LoL doesn't need to take notes from overwatch... if anything,
@@flamekite1679 Just because Overwatch is dyeing doesn't mean there is nothing to be learned from it.

Now, I just play PowerWash Simulator and its relaxing af.
Well it is a better designed game. Can’t blame you there.
i mean it cant be help after a long time a game will have alot of "veteran" or "tryhard" and the percentage of newer player will get smaller and smaller so most of the people you face has played it for years and the only thing left for them is climbing rank so they get salty more easily if someone die even once.
i just recently quit to play GTA V Online and Apex (not ranked ofc just fun pew pew) and i am now much less angry.
Megaman 2407 dude, have you ever heard of TF2? 14 years after release and it's as casual as a decade ago.
Been saying it for years, if you want go just have fun, don't play League of Legends
She was a natural adc and played mechanically very well as she played Overwatch for years but the amount of information she just didnt know greatly hurt her fun nit to mention the toxicity
not to mention
bot games doesn't help since it's just people are using bot apps to level the account and sell it
This so much.
It's so sad now that i still might see try hard fucker on ARAM 😭😭😭

Well, Sett is a fucking cancer, but he is simple, i dont see solution in simpleness

Just lowering the dmg would not be a good solution there has more to be done.

The champs lack focus that they all come out feeling sort of lame in my book

Bard had received nerfs due to reasons you mentionned, but the base was solid and that's what matters most.
The issue is if a champ is bad on release they never gain a player base, and even if they're buffed down the line people still arent likely to pick them up, see Illoai for a example

Akshan was a test to make someone blatantly broken, but "balance" it around having lower numbers.
I'm surprised you didnt talk about Lilia, and how riot actualy wait until people gets how to play her without hotfix
Lux's kit will never change in the next 10,000 years
Facts. Because people play her. Which leads to them making skins and profit
I remember playing fiora for the first time in mordekaiser's rework and going 3/16
oh boy haha
Well deserved. All Fiora mains are assholes.
I personally think one of the things that makes this game so unenjoyable compared to previous seasons issue fact that everything has become less and less skilled with each patch. There have also been many other changes recently that have added frustrating mechanics to play against, some with little to no counterplay (at least that I’m aware of).
Here are the problems I’ve encountered:
-Can no longer QSS knock-ups (Lee Sin, Vi and Nautilus can’t be dodged), Riot we’re going to make tenacity reduce the length of them because of this, but decided not to. I once saw a Kalista QSS out of an inSec in pro play, which was extremely impressive and skilled, plus all those amazing Chinese Lee Sin blast cone cleanse plays were extremely creative
-Targeted (lock-on) stuns/fears last too long (should be shorter than skill shots)
-Rammus can jump on you, Ryze and Twisted Fate can stun you for hours with Everfrost
-Melee champs like Nocturne and Darius can slow you with Stridebreaker
-Adcs have up to 3 dashes with Galeforce and flash
-Samira can wind wall your spells (because fuck supports.. and poor Braum)
-Shieldbow activates automatically and blocks 1k+ damage late-game (should be an active in my opinion)
-Duskblade makes champions like Master Yi and Kha’Zix untargettable for entire fights (just remove Umbral Glaive already and give it the sweeper passive again, no one buys that trash)
-Bruisers have 2 magic resist items (Riot claimed they were adding more 8+ months ago but that never happened)
-Certain hitboxes are misleading (Ashe ult, Yone ult, etc)
-There are several anti-heal items yet only a single anti-shield one
-Invisibility has no real counterplay (maybe add a support item that grants true sight for a few seconds)
-On-hit item damage is absurd and can be in the thousands with only a few hits, plus Rageblade procs Vayne’s W passive + Kraken Slayer twice
-Of the past 10 champions released; 6 of them are auto attack-based champs
-Sheen costs 350 gold less, meaning Gangplank, Nasus and Camille’s power spikes can’t be delayed by bullying them out of lane early (like you can with Lost Chapter for mages)
-Despite adding Mythic items for extra build diversity, everyone is forced to build the same items every game. Yasuo/Yone rushes Shieldbow into Infinity Edge, Riven rushes Goredrinker into Cleaver 100% of the time, etc
I’m sure there are plenty more, but these are from the top of my head.
Akshan is the champ made when Riot goes "What if we combine all the most broken parts of Sivir, Twitch, Camille, Vayne, and half a dozen others all into one champ at the same time?"
High mobility, infinite stealth, 3 hit passive, health shield, a lock on for autos, and something that removes ally death timers.

But why does everyone say akshan has vayne's passive? Doesn't it deal magic damage? If so, isn't it more like Jax's passive or something?
@@iiiivvvv9986 Everyone says it's Vayne's because Vayne and Akshan are both ADCs. It's just yet another 3-hit passive, so there are plenty of other champs it can be compared to: Jax, Vi, Gnar, Vayne, Ekko, Tahm Kench, Kindred, Kraken Slayer, etc
@@LadyTsunade777 well yes, but Still calling it vayne's passive is false advertising on the level of snake oil salesmen or sleazy politicians.
It took me a moment to realize you mean Sona's actual kit update from way back then and not Seraphine.
I liked your story about clicking with Lillia. I had the same thing with her but even more so with Rell. Level 7 mastery with Rell 3 days after her release. Still my main.

This was during Akshan's release, he was stating what was happening and what's been happening there is no prediction

The biggest problem is the obscure matchmaking system, like other games and from players experience, it's a casino based model, throw a win there and here and keep you playing as long as possible without caring at all for fair matches
I'm pretty sure it was Harambe on twitter ranting about the wukong rework that started the 200 years meme.
I love this idea
Seems too simplistic. Sett doesnt have a massive amount of dashes or stuns, but his numbers are a bit overtuned rn. Champion balance is too complex to boil down to a single number, imo

I think it's a good thing that champions are slightly OP on release. It makes people play the champion and when more people play the champion, Riot get more data about how the champion is build and what the champions playstyle is supposed to be like making it easier to give the champion an identity and removing unnecessary utility making it easier to balance later on.
A couple months ago, a friend was watching me play and during the loading screen said,
"I haven't seen this new champ before. What do they do?"
To which I responded,
"You know...I actually don't have time to answer that."

People are more likely to flame when there only option is ingame chat as it makes people seem less human when there is no voice behind it.
Surprised to find you here stevie

Akshan will push more people away from the game because the moment he becomes viable. He becomes op. Like vlad, ryze, yuumi, sylus, that viego thing and so on. Their passives and abilities are game breaking
What version of summoners rift is that at 14:35 for example? Never seen the rift look so beautiful tbh.

Heimerdinger passive: 20% movement speed increase near allied turrets.
Modern-day passive: Whenever you basic-attack an enemy champion 3 times, gain a stack. A 4th basic attack grants two stacks. At 5 stacks, your next ability consumes the stacks and grants the following abilities:
Q - Gain 6% lifesteal and 10% movement speed per stack for 8 seconds.
Things that I would change (gut) in Akshan’s kit:
-Passive: Removed speed burst, instead, every AA gives him a tiny shield, the longer he autos the more the shield will grow till a cap.

Dude u r awesome don't let anyone let you think otherwise
I will point out neeko is probably the most recent champ with little to no backlash from players, unless I'm forgetting something
lilla also doesnt get much hate and alot of player seem to enjoy her playstyle beside her being a reason no monster champ is release that year.
blame the "outplays" sht.

i lost interest in this game around the time yasuo was added. along with having several passive abilities, his windwall ability was stronger than braum's wall skill, a character whos whole premise is being a wall for his allies
Part of it might be that it all feels a lot worse due to your break. What were gradual changes for most of us was one major change to you.
Take a break man. It’s for the best . If you are not having fun don’t force yourself . You can always come back when you are inspired to play again .
Remember when a Day 2 Hotfix on a Champion happened so rarely back then that it was actually interesting to make a Top 10 vid of it? Good ol' days.
Bro akshan had so many unique and cool abilities that could’ve become the core identity of new champs. Imagine if we got:
- A dedicated marksman with the ability to tether to terrain, making them able to swing in and out of combat from crazy angles (finally able to use the alcove for more than just lane ganks)
- A melee toplaner who’s AA was the single hit grant movespeed vs. double hit deals more damage, allowing for insane high risk microplays
- A low-damage support, where getting a kill as them gave them a “charge” on their ultimate to channel revive one teammate of choice at the fountain, forcing the team to trade gold on a non-carry in exchange for a game-winning revive
But instead they cram it all into one lousy-ass package, make all the cool passives and abilities weak to the point where it’s unnoticeable and all of the potentially revolutionary new abilities go down the gutter.
Overwatch did it correctly by disabling a new character for Rankeds the first 2 weeks of their release.
After playing for around a decade finally gave the game up. I miss it at times but know the flaws of the game arent going to be overcome. Its not worth the insane time sink waiting for rito to acknowledge your champ exists and be on the ban chopping block for those 2 weeks.

That EXACT SCENARIO you mentioned at the end, I had the misfortune of experiencing it. Played against an Akshan SUPPORT and after lvl 6 he was perma roam. Hed sit and hide like a dirty lil teemo and then kill you (especially when you were marked a scoundrel). Man it really made the game longer than it had to be.
Doesn't help either that scoundrel lasts for a damn century. But how was he even supporting? Aside from killing people
To balance scoundrel is simple... give it a freaking cooldown, so only one ally is revived and tie it to the champions passive.
When Lucian got a second passive in the recent patch I laughed so hard. ...the way to fix the "new champs problem" isnt to give all the old champs a million passives and abilities as well, it is to maybe take on of the 5 passives or Arkshan and... remove it. xD
But lucian got a new passive to fix a different problem of the champs itself
