I was at the game and I accidentally did exact same thing the "Dad" did. I wanted to sit next to the band and I started walking down the stairway next to the band. After about going half way down, i realized that the flag corp was on the other side and i realized I was in the band section. Being a band person, I knew i was not supposed to be there so I turned around went some place else. I was also confused to why PVs band was on the visitor's side with famu. My point is that it was not clearly marked that spectators should not be in those section, nor was there anyone guarding/blocking that stairway. The flags were very spaced out so it made the section looked very empty when coming down from the top. I can easily see how a dad trying to get to his son that just played a game could become confused and unintentionally wander into the band section, especially if he's never been to that stadium before (which is exactly what happened to me). I'll be posting halftime show and march out shortly.

He tried to break through the color guards section after telling him on multiple occasions not to. He tried doing it during the zero and then after the game. We sit on the visitor side when there is no opposing band so the home side can hear us better

Everybody should know you can not walk through the band's area if you are not a part or affiliated. Especially at an HBCU. I also happy that they did not have an incident. He would not do this at a FAMU game.

Only band ppl know not to cut the band and not to sit in the band sections. Marching bands need security and protection, and I'm not talking about band staff and flags (NSU). The culture needs to change so that the band is protected at all time by security professionals. I'm starting to see more and more altercation from spectators on the band and that's not cool. I blame the school and/or staff not having those stairways blocked off to protect the band members. I 100% found myself in the band section too that same day, I was surprised I didn't get bammed immediately wearing a Marching 100 hat, lol.

I guess respect is lacking. If I see any group that all are wearing the same uniform, t shirt or whatever. I'm not waking through that group . They can be kids or a group of teddy bears. Unless I'm part of the group or invited.

Appreciate the clarification. As you and most everyone knows, when something hits social media, an amalgamation of what actually happened goes through a number of interations. Then it resembles nothing like what actually occurred. I guarantee you that on many of the sports podcasts that will air over the next week it will eventually end up being a drive by shooting...inside the stadium!!!

This stem from the seemingly lack of respect some school admins give to programs outside of football. Most schools when having financial turmoil are quick to cut funding for professors and other organization, but rarely due you see those cuts to the football programs. This in turn in my opinion gives some people the impression that these other programs are second-class to the football program thus creating the lack of respect that has been shown more and more as of late.

PV alum here, I was at the game. It’s interesting to me that a lot of ppl missed a huge part of the story. The football players were fighting each other for what seemed like the entire playing of the school song. This video starts right after the fights were broken up. Emotions were high, which is likely why the dad was trying to get to the field in the first place. He just took the wrong route 😬

I'm glad this didn't turn into a Jump Off. People today are waaaaay to comfortable being right up under the band and acting like the band is just some other people in their patch. Band space is not your space. But, I'm glad he wasn't properly instructed on the consequences of not respecting the band's space. It's sad enough that the attention is taken from the football team's excellent play to beat FAMU and for both Head Coaches to have to address questions about this parent's actions with the media, but the questions are about the players and the band's reaction; not the adult that caused the confusion. smh

Honestly, the narrative of "the footbAll team went to fight the band" makes no sense and im nit sure why thats veing put out there. Clearly video evidence and first hand accounts say otherwise
