  • Ford Transit - Common coolant leak & how to pressure test. I've also shown the best way to remove the starter motor from the transit. The O-ring can be replaced on the thermostatic control, however for piece of mind I suggest replacing it, part no. below. Also be sure to use the right type of coolant which is normally an OAT Type (Organic Acid Technology) or you run the risk of damaging the engines' cooling system. Please ensure you check your owners manual for the right specification.

Just noticed this leak part way through a road trip. Thanks for posting this, I thought it might have been the water pump !

In a bit of a panic, we used bars leaks for coolant which has temporarily stopped the leak. Hopefully, this doesn't cause any grief to the coolant system until we can replace the faulty part.

@@SmartCamper As soon as you can get the vehicle to a workshop i would recommend flushing the entire cooling system several times. Then fixing all the leaks and pressure testing the system. All those stop leaks can cause issues later on with the vehicle.

Not sure what you mean but if your referring to pressurizing the system then yes this is done to test for any leaks.
