Excellent score Robert. Great deal in prices. I guess luck was on your side this time. Where I am in Ontario Canada,the BS is hyped too much and most if not all that you showed would have been over priced big time. I feel kinda bad for the young kids getting into vinyl and being hosed for like a Bat out of Hell
Album where there are literally 15+ Million copies all over the place!
Antique malls and some flea markets are like that here.
I'm a Rock guy myself, but I'd suggest giving that Getz/Gilberto album at least one spin. It's perhaps Bossa Nova's pinnacle, including the magic of poet Vinicius de Moraes. Singer Astrud Gilberto (Joao's wife) recently passed away on June 5 2023. That Rock And Roll Over "blue tears" version rules, congrats on it!

The Gilberto Jazz album is a good sounding album. The Girl from Ipanema was the big hit. You had some great scores. Well done my friend.

Years back my grandma called me and said, "I have a bunch of records in my basement and I want them out of here. I think they were your uncle's records. Do you want them?" So I went over and picked them up. It was a mix of records that belonged to her and my uncle. So many interesting records in there...if I made videos I would have done one about them because of how strange many of them were to get from my grandma. But, my comment is about the one I had never heard of or seen before in an all white cover with a green label record inside from "The Greatest Band in the World". Researched it to find it was the same bootleg you show, but mine has a perfectly white cover and the records is perfect. It is basically in perfect condition and I still have not spun it either. I may need to give it a spin to see how it sounds. I heard it was sort of a big deal as it eventually did get released as a Stones live album and was one of the first times a band got their hands on a bootleg and then released it as their own. IDK.

Thanks! When I looked on Discogs, I saw several variations of that Rolling Stones bootleg, including the one you mentioned. It must have been great not knowing what it was.
Good score on box of records Garage sales are hit or miss on classic rock in the wild usually country, country gospel, preachers on records are at garage sales The rolling stones finds are amazing. Thanks for sharing

The thing I love about yard sale albums is that most are autographed....not by the artists though.

That particular Def Leppard warped lp will never lose the edge warp. That's sad

I still see some records at garage sales ad estate sales, but horribly over priced. Very nice finds. When Paul Stanley cries, the whole world cried with him.
I originally started buying records in the late 90's with garage sales, buying records for quarter. It seemed like for most garage sales in the neighborhood, people were selling records.
The 90's was definitely the golden age for records at garage sales. It seemed like everyone was selling albums and moving to CD's. I wish I would have taken advantage of that.

I discovered Love as a teenager because I liked the cover that UFO 🛸 did on Lights Out. My Dad heard me playing it & picked up Forever Changes for me. I'm glad he did ..Thanks UFO 🛸 ! 😊

Hi Robert enjoyed seeing what you picked up at the garage sale and you certainly found some beauties. As you implied you don’t always find quality records at every sale but if you don’t go looking you’ll never find anything … never heard that Jeff beck album or that stones album 🤷🏼♂️. I do have that allman brothers album though . I like gaucho 🤷🏼♂️ and aja Thanks for sharing 👍

Absolutely , get a lot of records from estate and garage sales..Alot of people looking for albums the same way nowdays..
If you ever have a romantic evening with your lady then you can't do better than Stan Getz in the background. Probably the best album you have there.

Hit and miss for sure. Always inquire if you don't see any albums. I've been invited to look at more than a few collections that "were just too heavy to bring up from the basement". Garage sales have been good to me this summer. It's hard to keep up, there are so many people out there hunting. Very nice Stones boot. Both of the jazz titles are easy on the ears. Donald Fagen and Brian Wilson are coming back to haunt you after they kick it!
I've heard that advice, but I'm not sure as to how inquire what people might have at a garage sale on most sites. There's no email address or anything. One of them (yardsalesearch) has a comment section, but to my short experience, no one replies to it.
Satanic Majesties Request is a great Psych album except the final song on each side. My youngest daughter loved Surfer Girl.
I have to really do a deep dive into Dylan...maybe I have been missing something.... nice pick ups!
I'm jealous! I've never seen a record at any of the local yard sales I've been to. This town must have had a giant lp bonfire when cd's came out. BTW... I just got my Cars High Fidelity yesterday. It only took.12 days to get mine.🤦♂️ only 2 very slightly dinged corners, but it sounds great!!! I owe you one!!!

I'm wondering if you own one of the rarest albums in the world. It's a Beatles album called Sgt. Pet Sounds And The Spiders From Aja. It contains their groundbreaking masterpiece Layla In The Sky For The Benefit Of Shaft.
It has been said that all known copies of that album were fed to the emperor Gulock in 2052. I find that hard to believe. But I must admit I never knew it existed or was recorded. I watched a brief documentary about it called Beatles 3000. The stuff they uncovered is unbelievable.
I would bet that someone watched that video and said there is a movie there. And that's how we got Yesterday.
I've still never seen that Yesterday movie.

I was at a thrift store this week rummaging through their records, found a few good ones (Faces Long Player, War All Day Music both orig presses in great shape) and then... Dave Brubeck Time Out in mono! I slide the album out .... and it's Herb Alpert's 9th! I rifle the stack to find Herb Alpert's 9th hoping they got switched, I find it and inside is ... Herb Albert's 9th.
That never happens to me. If a record is mis-matched, the other cover is never there.
@@RobertFithen I remembered seeing the cover a few stacks back for old Herb so I had a glimmer of hope with was extinguished pretty quickly. The good news is they pretty much had the whole Tijuana Brass catalog and a full compliment of The Ray Coniff Singers😂
Man, I was hoping you would have pulled out the Ultimate Spinach disc with that beautiful blue and gold MGM label. It's also quite a long album. --- About Gaucho ... I love it, but you're gonna hate it.😁

I have the super-limited hand-numbered Popeye picture disc that comes packaged in a giant 12-inch tin can! Top THAT !! 👍
My favorite part of the video is when you were being so careful with that melted Def Leppard. haha Also, I really like jazz, but your hatred for it is infectious. 🤣😂
I just did a video where I showed an Aerosmith record that someone had actually carved into. I didn't notice until after I made it how careful I was being with that record, too. Lol
Got a ‘Standard Coltrane’ and two Elvis sun records(a 45 and a 78, both chipped but still!) at a Miami garage sale recently. If there’s records, you better be there early as fuck. Getting there an hour before sale starts isn’t early enough anymore
I'm learning that. Last week I got to one that advertised records half hour early and someone had already bought the entire box.
My mom still has several of her Elvis records on the Sun label. Also an original Carl Perkins Blue Suede Shoes. We're definitely holding on to these!
Great video. I love the Jeff Beck group debut lp Truth its killer. Went to a yard sale last minute month paid 2 bucks for a clean first release of Sly and the Family Stones "Stand" its fabulous check it out if you aren't familiar
"Stand" is a great album.
I like Neil Diamond, love everything on Bang Records, and Neil Diamond Gold is in my top ten live records!
His later work is difficult

Some excellent finds there Robert. Their Satanic Majesties Request, worth it for that great sleeve alone. The Ultimate Spinach l.p. is really hard to get hold of over here in the U.K. It was released here but is very costly - if you can actually find one. Lots of other good stuff in there too. Great finds, great video, cheers.

I also have never heard Bob Dylan's debut, just never seen a copy. Actually I only just finally found a copy of 'Freewheeling' in the last few months, after decades of looking. Surprised you didn't mention the KISS connection with Satanic Majesties! Didn't know about the blue tear on RARO.
I actually heard the Kiss version of "2000 Man" before I heard the Rolling Stones version.

Nice finds Robert! I do a ton of garage/estate sales and you nailed it. Couple weeks ago was the woman with the $50 Stones albums. My best find was last summer. A 1993 clear vinyl limited edition pressing of In Utero for $5.

That Getz/Gilberto record is notable because it brought Brazilian music to the rest of the globe; Joao Gilberto was a keen collaborator who had a really great melodic sense.Monk was one of the genre's true iconoclasts; his style on piano was utterly unique, inspirationally janky & almost anti-rhythmic.
Neither disc is one I'd recommend to someone who doesn't like jazz but they're both obviously filled with quality music.
Monk for the win! If you want to sell that let me know man ✌️🎸

Starts off with that David Sanborn ''80 s Saturday Night...Live! station -break bumper music" saxophone that could turn you off, but...'lost' tracks like deleted 'the second arrangement' or' the Bear' could've would 've slapped ,however I like it's somber-light rock radio jazz 'Hey nineteen' creeping remorseful aging liquor n tootified snapshots of uptown loser reminiscences. it's a vibe that does take a few listens to grasp. I've had 'Third World Man' on repeat on a downer before, don't know what it means but like how it feels
I'm familiar with "Hey Nineteen" and actually enjoy that one. It seems like a parody of the creepy jazz-rock guy with the young girl.
Getz/ Gilberto is a great jazz album. It features “The Girl From Ipanema”.
That last one was the diamond in the rough 😂

Quite a haul! As you began talking about the JA Flight Log LP I said out loud at the screen, “It’s weird that there’s nothing from Bodacious DF on that comp”. Two seconds later you said exactly the same thing. Whooooaaa...we’re reading each other’s minds, maaaan. You’ll definitely hate Gaucho. It’s basically the same style as Aja, just as you’ve heard, but with the added bonus of lamer songs!

My brother had Their Satanic Majesties Request when I was maybe 10 or 11 and I always liked it. I think it was the only Stones he had that I liked (I did like the single Play With Fire).
Never knew about the tear thing on rock n roll over. UFO is a great band. Lights out isn't even their best album. I got a cd box set which has all their releases from 1974-1986. All the album michael schenker was are included.

I have a question for you. How sensitive is your turntable? I know on mine that Def Leppard definitely would not play. But it seems on my turntable even the slightest, smallest dish causes my tone arm to jump. So I'm wondering if I need to adjust the weight? Or maybe I'm at the wrong place and should take this question over to Fithen's Stereo Repair channel.
I have a Ortofon bronze cartridge so it's fairly sensitive. I don't think there's a turntable that would play the Def Leppard album. The grooves are melted.
Decent finds , but no Dire straits ? I ask at every sale, sometimes they’ll say oh yeah I got a box in the house. Every now and then a collectible 78 rpm shows up, but ya gotta dig through a lot of Benny Goodman and Frank Sinatra.

The beachs noys surfer girl was at one stage reissued cheaply by Capitol with fewer tracks…. As if a 25 minute lp with 12 tracks was too much!
“In my room”sounds great in stereo on that lp
Capitol used to do that a lot with older releases, Mostly it happened in the early 80's. They did the same thing with Steve Miller Band's Greatest Hits.
