Being in Section 18 Grandstand during Game 3 in 2003 when Zimmer charged at Pedro. Pedro was like a matador taking down a charging bull. Also Jeff Nelson be*t up a bullpen attendant later in the game. Also I saw Stephen King 😅
Did some precision driving for Instigators and it was such a unique experience. They shut down the tunnel on 93 and Storrow Drive for big portions of the day/night, so we were just hanging out on the Zakim at midnight filming with drones. Appreciate Boston bred actors bringing work back this way for the rest of us.
I’m in Back Bay and the alley/chase scenes around the area were insane. The SUV with the boom/camera on it was parked by my place for weeks and we found fake money ect, we all loved seeing it…. Esp when all the police cars were there doing the scene in the alley bc it was a block from me… it’s a nice change of pace around here! I couldn’t wait to see it and watched as soon as it released! Really enjoyed it.
This was a great episode! Casey is very articulate. Great guy. Julian does an absolute wonderful job hosting these episodes.! One of my favorite shows! Go pats!!!
I agree, great conversation, I like hearing about the challenges you guys faced. I being someone people have overlooked or having the odds against you, love it when you can flip those odds in their head. Bring Casey back again!
Hey Edelman huge fan remember watching you getting your first snaps as WR, I knew you were a different breed, your toughness and ball skills stood out. And Casey is a cool actor, love his impressions of us Bostonians its hilarious, would like to see him in more roles, as a detective. Great show guys 👍🤙
Theres something about Casey when he talks the tone and cadence.. I can listen to this dude talk all day about nothing. And I don't know if he's over shadowed by his brother or what but I think he's one of the best actors out there. Alot of people think of the Oceans films and Manchester which yes he was great in but Out of the Furnace when I realized this guy is leaps and bounds better than his brother. Then of course shortly after he does Manchester and The Finest Hours. Those three performances are just so good and believable.
One of the greatest games I had ever see. I am a Dodger fan, but I was rooting for the Red Sox big time for that World Series victory. But the Sox gutted out that victory rather than Rivera blowing it. A walk, a steal, and a single from the only hitter who had consistent success against Rivera. What clutch plays!! Game 5 was also spectacular - Big Papi came through again.
@@richardwoolery5289 Games 3-5 were in Boston. I had standing room tickets to all those games. We lost game three 19-8. Tim Wakefield was due to start the next game which he then missed by offering to come in the game at the end to preserve the bullpen. That helped make the comeback possible.
Casey's faux pas was worse! Game 3 of 2004 ALCS was in Boston, not NYC. Best case he confused which game he attended; worst case he totally made up that vignette about wearing Red Sox caps in Yankee Stadium w/ Matt Damon & A.Rod glaring at them.
im just old enough to remember the green bay super bowl with bledsoe. i'm fortunate enough to have caught the full run of all the boston teams. Jules is such an all timer and a no doubt hall of famer in my mind. I understand the statisitical argument against his hall of fame case and im not dismissal of stats at all. When the chips are on the table, you need 5 yards on 3rd or 4th down im going to ride or die with Jules. I've watched just about every game of his pro career and I can't be convinced otherwise. he would be on my football space jam team
"Out of the Furnace" is a sleeper film with a great cast but Casey steals the show. There is one scene with him and chridtian bale in the kitchen and if youve seen the movie you know.
Great stream! As an O.G. Boston fan I can say one thing Curtis fahkin Martin was undoubtedly the best R.B. the Pats Evah had!!! The 7.9 score on this episode was perfect!
I went to the game the next day in the, then, 406 club. I was 20 years old. Looked like a baby, but the Democratic National Convention was in Boston that weekend. Tons of Politicians had younger ladies with them in the 406 club. Nobody got carded. Greatest day ever.
Reminds me - tons of DNC volunteers were freaking out that Casey's brother, Ben, was in The Oak Bar at The Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel & trying to go oogle him.[Note - this was before he was linked to his 1st wife, Jennifer Garner.] I was like, yeah whatever, no big deal, he's always around. 🤣
Need a few cowboys on the cast!! Romo, aikman, MICHAEL IRVIN. Any of them would be epic and would love to hear what they have to say ab the current state of Americas team
Back when baseball mattered. Back when Red Sox/Yankees rivalry was REAL. Back when I would schedule my whole week around Red Sox games. Before streaming, before phones, before the nerds ruined EVERYTHING. I have been out on baseball for over a decade and don’t miss it at all. Pitch clocks and robot umpires NO STEROIDS!! Just not the same. I loved being miserable watching them almost make it every year, seeing them win in 2004 after 86 years will NEVER BE MATCHED. Guys like Pedro, Manny, Schilling, Damon, Timlin, Wakefield, Tek, D Lowe, Papi, Millar, Bellhorn to name just a few!
Was the specific game in the series they're talkin about Lowe vs El Duque? I remember watching it on mlb vault and I think it was Lowe earlier that season was relegated to the bullpen by Cora and so this was his "prove it" game as a starter to earn back a spot in the rotation.
I’m from Cambridge, although I’m only 30, I know people who went to CRL with Casey. Always heard he was an AHole. In fact my mom’s friend is great friends with his mom I think they taught at a school together? Ben has mixed reviews however,Matt Damon sterling reputation.
Die hard Sox fan, huge Jules and GWN cast too. Casey Afleck the better Afleck, and his SNL dunks commercial is still gold even for a vegan. I was at the entire weekend of games this series with my dad and brother and it was epic. They stopped selling beer in like the 4th inning because of all the fights at Fenway in stands. Such a wicked good game, most excellent. Cowboy UP!!! Love the pod and even though I’m a die hard Fins fan since 1988 I look forward to 3pm Tuesday every week (Celtics, bruins, sawx, and Fins) you should have Pierce or Garnett on!!!
I think you might be thinking of Rod Beck, as your SFG closer, Mr. Jules, not Jon Beck, @1:08:00….one of the few celebrities I’ve ever seen in public; he was walking into the grocery store in Nantucket during the all star break in either 2000, or 2001….
I’ve been a Redsox fan since I was in diapers. The rivalry just isn’t the same anymore. What I remember the most from this game was A-Rod got hit while he was thinking of rushing the mound, guess who was the first person to get it shaking in the brawl outside of our catcher? Trot Nixon. All the way from right field he was in the mix before the infielders or bench.
Yo, Julius is so right because during the regular season games that year the fans were fighting the visiting teams pitchers while they were warming up.
Ha! Jules held it together but his production team is in trouble! Getting the game Casey picked wrong! a pretty big mess up,it is called "games with names:
I remember that game 4. The Sox were down and about to lose and a power outage happened and when the power came back on and the TV powered up they were up.
There is only one Yankee that I have respect for and that is Derek Jeter even the Red Sox fans have respect for him I mean if you go online you can see the video of the day where he retired and it was against the Boston Red Sox in Boston, but the entire crowd I'm talking thousands and thousands and thousands of people cheered and clapped for Derek Jeter that's the only person we respected on that team.
Derek Lowe was pissed he started the postseason in the bullpen but ended up starting a few games vs Yankees and Cardinals n got the W in all 3 series clinching games.
Jules the hip drop is also warranted to a 15 yard not just a fine... Brady? I understand that because his rookie year non starting asked him to sign my Michigan card he said no, second year same thing so I have been hurt on that. I am a collector not a seller! Casey can understand his acting too because I never really paid attention to his because he did not have big roles. The fight was the best thing with Jason as ARod not being a RS was the best thing that happend!
Jules, get a former Steeler either Ben #7 or Troy #43 and do week 15 against the pats for Ben, and for Troy do the 2008 afc championship game against the Ravens
I've always thought Casey was a better actor than his brother. Even when he was in Good Will Hunting I was drawn to his character any time he was in a scene and he keeps getting better.
Who knew Casey Freaking Afleck has a steel trap brain for baseball stats!!😮 I thought this episode would be a chit chat about movies and and/or Boston crap. I didn’t know I was coming to class!!!!
His anecdote about getting a dirty look from A. Rod for wearing Red Sox caps in Yankee Stadium w/ Matt Damon is factually inaccurate. Game 3 was played in Boston. Perhaps he misrembered or it was Game 2 . . . or he made it up. Either way, his mind is definitely not a 'steel trap.'
You guys are insane. No one hates Mariano Rivera. I "hated" Jeter far more than Rivera...because Jeter got so much credit for stuff he didn't deserve (see all the gold gloves).
The fact that they let Ernie Adams repeat a game. KC PATS AFC Championship. Makes this pod lose a little credibility to me. I still enjoy however. Still pathetic for him to "forget"
The money for athletes started with a cat from Billings, Montana, that successfully challenged the reserve clause starting free agency. He also hit a grand slam as a pitcher in the 69 world series. He was a great player, not in the H of F. Dave McNally.

1999 ALCS Game 3. The first playoff series in the history of their rivalry. Pedro vs Roger Clemens. It’s the “Roger in the shower” game. Sox won 13-1

This was so great to watch because you can tell they both have so much respect and are such fans of each other, it was fun for them
This was actually one of the better episodes ever. Casey asked Jules a lot of great questions
Great actor, but Casey's best performance was the SNL Dunkin' commercial. "Wanna talk real customers? Kid, that's me. I'm like the mayor of Dunkin'"

great pull lol, i go back and watch that skit all the time, never ceases to be hilarious
