The only thing I absolutely hate is the draw logic which happens in the entire series. To me, choosing a different route from the leader means forfeiting the battle and should've resulted in an instant loss.. the leader gets punished for the chaser's mistake. I got my win streak getting ended several times because the opponent went the wrong way.
@VeilStig dw it still happens in 3 too, I was leading by a fair few seconds and the driver decided "nah I'm going left peace" and got a draw ruining a streak
I'm pretty sure drawing is a non-factor as long as you know the route the AI is found at, taking my experience in TXR3 to say this. If a rival's area is the C1 Loop, as long as you stay on the C1 Loop, you will never draw.
Yeah, first run when you don't actually check the rival areas though can be a pain, especially when they will usually follow anyways most of the time (it seems anyways)

I LOL'd when you got a draw. That's just TXR AI for you. I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me in the 20+ years I've played this game. As for how to beat #400, you got to get him off Wangan and onto C1 (or any part of the highway system that has more turns), and get lucky. Don't stay out too long each night either. Your engine gets heat-soaked quickly. That first night you kept challenging him, you can actually see your car get slower. Gotta get better at avoiding barriers/cars too. I prefer the handling of AWD cars for this reason and usually beat the game with a maxed out R34. I've beaten TXR 0 (all 400 cars) probably 10 times using these strategies.
This game was some of the best memories of being a child. Also the Porsche 911 Turbo when fully tuned has accel that can *almost* keep up with ??? And handles far better
Back on the day I spent my whole summer playing this game and gta 3 when the ps2 first came out and I don’t regret it ! , Tokyo xtreme racer , I had to beat it using a game shark because they didn’t have RUclips or nun at the time lol

Man I love this game! I remember I was just browsing Blockbuster Video looking for a game to rent and saw TXR-Zero and thought it looks interesting and tried it and rented it 3 more times to finish it. Then bought it a Kmart. TXR-3 is my favorite of all on PS2. Then played Import Tuner Challenge for 360 and was much better graphically but way cut back but the best thing was the introduction of the multi player option. I was #2 on the global ranking last time I played almost 10 years ago.
I've never beaten this game, but I always keep coming back to it because of the memories I have playing it, driving around the C1 route while listening to the unforgettable soundtrack Edit: Legend of Gravedigger is a GOATED nickname btw

A couple days ago as of this comment I picked it up again and I beat those Unlimited members, then Tail Gunner around the Shinkanjyo area, then after a few attempts a return to the garage to refresh my car's performance, and ensuring my rematch would be on the C1, I beat Speed King. Last rival I beat as of now was Steam Storm who requires you to be on day 180 minimum, stupidest rival I beat was Dumb yet smart because he requires you to be in a car with two seats, like who tf came up with that?
I always thought of it as an actual approach to Shutokou racing. Most people mess around Touge before graduating to Shutokou when they have more money for tunes- so of course you'll have trouble with a stock car against experienced drivers in barely streetable machines. But then you tune yours as well and then I see the arguments
