Super musically inclined and their lyrics are beautiful. They're one of the few bands these days where I can feel the passion and heart felt vibes through their music! Can't wait to see them play again.
I just love this band. I especially love their new album - it's simply beautiful. The songs 'Oh My Dear' and 'I Don't Mind' blend as one song and it rips me every time.
This band will be remembered for decades to come. Completely unique, somehow avoiding all the cliches that make music sound generic and soulless. It’s like hearing Fleetwood Mac for the first time.
I like at 11:30 when John just goes off. I think y'all should break it down and let him spit some rhymes or maybe have like Kendrick or Diddy do a guest appearance ya know what I'm SAYIN?
I agree, not overall their best showcase. I recently saw them in Charlotte and they sounded so good. My wife has always been a huge fan, but I never listened. I was very impressed which is why this was a bit surprising because from the first song on I felt this was not close to what I had heard. Charity almost tore the roof off the place in her sole during Rivers. They are a great band can't wait to see them again.
I used to adore this band. It has nothing to do with them or their music as to why they have fallen a bit out of favor with me. There’s a great deal of pain in the memories I have attached to them, particularly in the two times I saw them live at Red Rocks. Masterful and majestic shows. I miss them.
Wow so glad I listened ❤️🙌🏼. Beautiful songs beautiful voices and harmonies. Amazing sounds & rhythm section guys. It sounds amazing on RUclips I can only imagine what it’s like there in NYC live 😲😍
ThePlanets I was just about to mention him. He is my favorite member. I almost wonder if there aren't creative differences and he is not coming back. I miss the old sound and I miss Josiah 🙁
Creative differences? He's battling a drug addiction. Unless you mean that that's all a lie and that he actually doesn't want to be a part of the band anymore.
Love this band. One question though. How does it work when they sing songs Josiah wrote? Does he still get a % of the check from the show? And what about any instruments/equipment he bought to use in the band? Does he forfeit them or take it with him? Maybe I'm ignorant to how being in a famous band works but I'd like to learn. Hope Josiah is doing okay. He had great writing skills and an even better voice. Also hope they are still all pals.
What a shame that the band does not have Josiah anymore. They had a CSN like quality to them with McCartney-esque melodies, which made them so unique. Charity had a unique voice although challenged. Now they are a shell of what they were.
Love this band too but they don't sound as good as usual. Charity voice sounds nasaly in some of the songs and her voice in the past has always been very strong and beautiful.
Phew, The Head and the Heart is one of my favorite bands of all time but looks like it's time to turn down Charity's mic. Or get her to sing better (not so nasally and Yoko Ono-esque) and actually get the harmonies. It's becoming unbearable, and believe me I'm a huge fan and support them. My experience with seeing them live has been nothing but positive but it's starting to show through. That said, there plenty of awesome moments in this vid and it is overall a great experience. Will always be a fan, even through the ups and downs!
I've never seen them live and was watching this to see if I wanted to. I've always liked their music but her singing made me decide not to go see them. So, that being said, I appreciate your comment and will seriously reconsider. Maybe she was having an off night here.
The electric Jon uses for Another Story is a '76 Guild Starfire. The Acoustic guitar that Jon uses for Lost in my Mind is Guild D-55 and has appeared in many videos of theirs. The electric Jon uses in City of Angel's is a fender but I'm not sure what style. First time I've seen them use that one but it's awesome. Maybe similar to a bluebird? As for Ricky's guitars I have no clue. Hes new.
I just learned of this band's music because their song "Signs Of Light" at the end of the film FREAK SHOW really grabbed my heart. I like this band a lot, but the female vocal at the top is consistently FLAT and not in chorus with the rest of the voices. It sounds like she's drunk and somewhere she can't see the rest of the bandmates.
I love this band since Let's be still, and I think Signs of light was one of the best 2016 albums...BUT I'm really trying to like Matty Gervais, but he doesn't have charisma, like he is trying way too hard
in other live performances of the past they played so much better! It's really a pity, as they are usually so harmonic and joyful... in this case (and in the last few recent live performance), they played awfully, or more specifically, Charity (if the blond one is named so), is truly out of control of her voice, and manages to ruin too many songs. don't want to be hostile, but it's really a big evidence the group must deal with and get a solution for...
simone balbi i believe that the absence of josiah had a huge impact. Sometimes when I play music, it has to be with the right person because if I play with someone I dont feel connected with, it just doesnt feel right :(
If you're serious, then I don't consider those people real fans. No true fan of a band would ever boo a band off stage. They may be disappointed, but booing them? I don't think so.
Agreed, wow this sounds horrible (the recording and mixing). Certainly not the artists, blame it on whomever was recording this or mixed it afterwards.
I really don't mean to be contentious, but I had to respond to this. Charity is perfectly in key, and she sings very well. You might not understand harmony, which is why her vocals sound incorrect to you. She is a great singer/musician.
She's struggling a lot with pitch issues throughout the entire performance. She's a good vocalist, so maybe she couldn't hear herself or was struggling with sickness, but this was decidedly bad.
Some of these kids came from Washington and Seattle. It's clear. I love their sound but they are not authentic folkie people, more music graduates pretending!
Charity seems to have packed on some weight since the first album. It really shows on her face. I wonder if it's genetic or she really likes to eat. Women seem to have a harder time keeping weight off more than men, at least from my experience. If she's comfortable with that, good for her.
Revisiting this old but gold session in 2022, anyone?
I'm back again - love this band
2023 as well
2024
Library magic is so good, love that song.
Super musically inclined and their lyrics are beautiful. They're one of the few bands these days where I can feel the passion and heart felt vibes through their music! Can't wait to see them play again.
The lead singer is so talented. He deserves more recognition.
i ❤jon fs
I saw this band on "Saturday Morning" today for the first time. Wonderful!! Listened to many songs and each was better than the last!
2024, and still awesome.
I just love this band. I especially love their new album - it's simply beautiful. The songs 'Oh My Dear' and 'I Don't Mind' blend as one song and it rips me every time.
Favorite band! This doesn't even compare to how they are live at all
This band will be remembered for decades to come. Completely unique, somehow avoiding all the cliches that make music sound generic and soulless. It’s like hearing Fleetwood Mac for the first time.
I fall in love more & more each time I hear and see all of you :)
They've made it big. Sounds like it on their studio stuff. Still love their 1st 2 albums. Will always love them.
@@sea-dawg that’s clever, Let’s be Still is their best in my opinion
I saw them in Ann Arbor. They were amazing! They sounded fantastic. I'd go again in a heartbeat.
Love love love. #favoriteband

Josiah Johnson... :(.. Esperamos tu pronta recuperación amigo.
Thanks Teacher George Wolf s... The best exercises, the best sound !!!!! Escala Book from Brazil
wish I was there so much!!
Amazing job NPR Sound crew 🥰

I like so much THATH but Josiah will return someday?
ThePlanets I was just about to mention him. He is my favorite member. I almost wonder if there aren't creative differences and he is not coming back. I miss the old sound and I miss Josiah 🙁
Creative differences?
He's battling a drug addiction.

I don't know.
***** .......
It’s 2023 and he is back
100 will listen again.. Greeeeat?
Never seen him without his hat
Anybody here after the Madrid concert??
What happened to josiah? I'm starting to know the band
Love this band. One question though. How does it work when they sing songs Josiah wrote? Does he still get a % of the check from the show? he still gets the royalties ...this is how Dylan made millions - other people sang his songs.....
What a shame that the band does not have Josiah anymore. They had a CSN like quality to them with McCartney-esque melodies, which made them so unique. Charity had a unique voice although challenged. Now they are a shell of what they were.
Mark Del Josiah will be back and I was very impressed with the stand in when I saw them live.
What do you think about the band now, 6 years later?
I love this band, id ont' understand the changes in members, did Josiah leave? ?? ? I only see 4 of the first ones i knew?
He's taking some personal time off for recovery.
@@bethderrick3975 what do u mean?
I know it has an effect, but he needs to get his mouth off the mic every now and then. Again, huge fan through the years and still.
What is the NYC Duane Reed C. and. J. I need in.
Love this band too but they don't sound as good as usual. Charity voice sounds nasaly in some of the songs and her voice in the past has always been very strong and beautiful.
Her voice here is so bad :/
just stop it
where is Josiah Johnson?
the question is will he ever return???
Replaced by Charity's husband.
It’s 2023 and Josiah is back
Charity sounds so bad here :( she just ruined "Let's be Still"

She sings MUCH better than Yoko. Yoko is a joke.
That I can agree with completely. But I know not many people are fans of the shrill shrieks and sometimes missed attempts at signing
I've never seen them live and was watching this to see if I wanted to. I've always liked their music but her singing made me decide not to go see them. So, that being said, I appreciate your comment and will seriously reconsider. Maybe she was having an off night here.
Codie Odie Definitely seems an off day. I've seen them live and she (and really the whole band) was better than this.
Same here. They performed really well and this doesn't seem to be a good representation of how good they can be.
the head and the heart ft maggie rogers
What guitar is that??
The electric Jon uses for Another Story is a '76 Guild Starfire. The Acoustic guitar that Jon uses for Lost in my Mind is Guild D-55 and has appeared in many videos of theirs. But otherwise I love this band
First time hearing them live 😭😓 i feel duped
Charity's vocals are not the norm....doesn't even resemble the Doe Bay event. Disappointing in vocals, especially in a studio setting
Too many cupcakes.
They need Josiah Johnson back.
charity is priceless, her performance is incredible in here so stop about that.
Songs are out of balance, as Charity's vocals are not in harmony, however, other than this performance, one of my favorite bands
good name of the band haha
what in the heck is up with the girls voice in her part of the "Lets be still" song............my oh my that is strange
Great band but this audio mix is not good. I would move along much better vids out there.

Can’t stand how the female singer chews on her words. Otherwise great band!
Bad
Jesus Christ. I love this band and saw them earlier this month, but this sounds god awful. Nothing like they sound live.
When i saw them live they were almost booed off stage. terrible
Bullshit.
If you're serious, then I don't consider those people real fans. No true fan of a band would ever boo a band off stage. They may be disappointed, but booing them? I don't think so.
Pffffhhhhh

Why Charity is so big? 😱
The girl totally ruined all of the songs

I think charity is just trying to hard in Josiah's absence
Michael Golata did Josiah quit the band?
jzoom45 he's not been with the band for about 2 years now because of drug addiction. Hopefully he can come back

Paul Mah I was thinking the same thing
totally, i thought she was hot, 1st album...oh well it happens to everyone
