Hey Oliver, great question. When shooting video on a DSLR you should always shoot on manual mode and make sure your camera is switched to video. You then want to make sure your shutter speed is set to twice your frame rate or as close as you can get. Hope that helps!
@@Film_It_Yourself i know this but manual mode doesn't have much lighting and AV mode does that's why i shot in av mode.. So my clips are shot in 24fps and shutter speed was always different depending upon the weather. Do i need to worry about anything as i didn't follow the rule as my clips look natural have no errors just i didn't follow the rule
Hey Oliver, I’m not sure why you mean by having much lighting but I’m guessing you’re saying the image is very dark. For video you really should follow the shutter speed rule and only shoot in manual. To help with exposure, you want to either change the F stop or the ISO setting. It’s important to keep your shutter double your F stop, otherwise your footage won’t look cinematic as the motion blur could be too crisp or too blurred. The exception to this is only if you have a motivated story reason for changing motion blur, such as the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan. Any professional video editor will be able to tell right away there’s an issue with your shutter speed. Hope that helps!
A llot of this is based on Aristotle's "Poetics" and Freytags pyramid. Thank you for breking it down so elegantly
Thank you for watching!

Right back at you! I checked out some of your films. Fun stuff! I love doing horror too. ❤️
Hey! Please tell me whether or not i should shoot on AV mode on canon camera as it affects shutter speed.
