I 100% agree about the button lock Doing something different, a Button operated liner/frame/compression lock would be awesome As well as some cross bar locks And if WE could move into using S90V and/or Magnacut And if Civivi could use 154CM/CPM154 Not that I need more knives to add to my list 😂😅
Honestly their button locks are going a bit too far. They're flooding the market with prices that make other companies struggle to compete. They make every possible blade and handle shape to make it so you may as well just buy a civivi. If it were an American company I'd be happy with it, but they pretty much have the budget market on lock. I think we should stop sending our buying power over to China, but that's just an opinion I guess.
I have the base version. Great crisp flip, and Doubleplusgood sharp! Alas I nipped the tip requiring a serious deburring session. Managed I did to dull 2/3 of the blade in process. Failed to keep the proper angle? Hmmm 🤔 and whoops. Took a session with DMT stones: Fine, extra fine, extra extra fine, strop to finish. Stones are well worn and old (much like this old body!) Can the stones be rehabilitated or is it time to invest in new sharpening stones et al? Suggestions appreciated! 🙏
if you have stones that are seriously dished, you can order crushed silicon carbide (graded) to your needed grit, get a flat piece of glass 12x12 ish from an old window, spray some water, sprinkle a little (1/4 teaspoon) draw x's across the face of your stone, toss in earplugs, and then flatten/condition/dress your sharpening stone till the X's you drew are gone from the dished portion, then grab a cheap $25 fine DMT diamond stone and use that for a finishing pass and your whetstone should be refreshed. I'm a fan of spyderco ceramics. They need to be scrubbed with bartender's friend/borax soap every couple knives but they take a LONG time to dish out but similar process to bring back only using garnet as the abrasive on the flat glass. There are a bunch of youtube videos out there on dressing/flattening sharpening stones that probably explain it a lot better than I can if you're really looking to get it done right.
It would really enhance your reviews if you got an HRC reader. Knowing the hardness from an independent source would be an invaluable resource. Many channels smaller than yours have them. Just a suggestion bc that would really inform my blade choices and would let me know which companies are honest.
That's kind of an expensive request. The hand held digital readers just aren't as accurate or reliable and the actual mounted Rockwell testing benches take up a lot of space and get into the multiple thousands of dollars.
@@wes.killed.it.5511 Understood but as I mentioned, it's not unheard of. For a channel with 700k subscribers whose only role is to present pocket knives to make informed purchase decisions, this would really be a way to increase the value to the audience. I'm not going to stop watching or anything but I think it would be a good investment.
Hey @MetalComplex! I bought a vision FG from civivi and it’s fallen apart in my pocket: screws all come out, scales and pocket clip hanging off. I didn’t use it hard or even as my daily carry for longer than 2-3 days at a time. Is this common with their knives???
I think your backspaced pocket clip screw backed out. Just put loctite on all the screws and you won’t have that issue again. Definitely the fault of QC but it’s not broken or anything.
Look man, I'm gonna disagree with you on Civivi's factory edge. It's OK and doesn't suck, but nowhere near Spyderco or Vosteed IME. But WAY better than Kizer.
Spyderco does a great factory edge in terms of performance, but it's wonky as hell half the time. Vosteed doesn't seem to be anything special. I've got their new Parallel here with me and it's... just fine
Usually when the fuller is the middle it is callled a blood groove. Why, I don’t know. My guess is that back in the day, there were less qualms about the weapon potential of knives.
They definitely have a mostly similar design, but that's what lots of people want. Look at kizer, cjrb, and many more. There are several knifes for everybody now.
Civivi is good but they need to evolve. It gets boring. I've kinda moved on to Kizer and Miguron in the budget realm. I want to try out Kubey and others. On the flip side, I need my premium collection to catch up to my budget collection!

I like this one, might get it and dye the handle scales.
I do like it. I think I would have liked a traditional San Mai aesthetic but still a very cool looking knife.
Just got mine in ! Love it
She’s beautiful 🥲

I would have to say I disagree. Civivi is the one budget company nailing the button lock why would you want them to stop?

She sounds like a fire type Pokémon.

What about the w00tZ?!?!

I think they won't fix the pocket clip design is that they want people to buy the milled titanium clip

Man this version is sexy
I knew a girl named Sendy. I'd like to be INcendie. 😅
Am I the only one that thinks the Damascus blade cheapens the look, like a gas station knife.
Yep, think youre the only one 😉
Thanks
I've come to find Civivi fairly boring. I'm looking for a front flipper, and they basically don't have any. Flippers, studs and buttons...
They definitely have a mostly similar design, but that's what lots of people want. Look at kizer, cjrb, and many more. There are several knifes for everybody now.
Honestly, anything with a frame lock now bores me. However, why a front flipper specifically? Just to have one?
Civivi is good but they need to evolve. It gets boring. I've kinda moved on to Kizer and Miguron in the budget realm. I want to try out Kubey and others. On the flip side, I need my premium collection to catch up to my budget collection!
Kizer has lots of great front flippers you could try, what's the point in being loyal to a Chinese budget brand
Civivi Sokoke is what you're looking for, but ya. There are a bazillion budget brands out there. Lots of them do front flippers
