Dell Inspiron 15-5523 BIOS Password Removal

- The only free & legitimate way to clear / bypass the BIOS boot password that I have found for this laptop. I found this on my own.
Removing the CMOS battery doesn't work, please don't tell me I could have just done that.
The BIOS chip is a Winbond W25Q64FV. I would assume this to work on any laptop that uses that chip.
I'm not here to sell anything, just to help. :)

Do not use this for illegitimate means. This was a customer's computer to which she had forgotten the password.

Although I've heard you could have just removed the CMOS battery
I just did it worked great my system booted in the OS immediately and turned on with no bios pw.

+Brennan Murphy i have a dell inspiron 5545 that uses the winbond 25Q64FVSIG ... does that use pins 1 and 4 as well? where does pin 1 on my chip start? which side? ...i see a dot near the first pins on one of the sides; is that #1?

Have you tried removing just the CMOS battery? Doing just that can reset the motherboard settings.

I've shorted several chips to a Lenovo Thinkpad L430. I now have a inspiron 5447. Can someone confirm if this will work for that model? I know this can work. I just need to be certain before making any rash decisions here.
I have a Dell Latitude 5430 and i see several chip with the same aspect, 8 legs, one of them with legend 'ul', two with 'u' and other two with 'mq'. Which of them would it be?
I tried this with the 2 winbond ICs in a Dell Latitude e5430 and it did not clear the admin password. I've seen in datasheets and read in forums that DO, which Is pin 2, not 1, should be grounded. What do u think?

Lo provee en una Dell Inpiron 15 3125 y no me funciono, tiene 2 EPROM que hacen de BIOS no se cual hacerlo, o si es que hay que hacerselo a ambos eprom.
Can find the cpu but the bios chip doesn't seem to be near, and most of the eight leg chips are smaller than yours. I've tried shorting all of their legs for several seconds with the battery removed and apparently haven't found the correct chip. Also can't hold power on mine because it's tied in with the cover that is removed.
This is the same case happening to me now...did you find any solution..mine is Dell inspiron M5010

I need your help. I forgot the bios password of my system. Whenever I turn on my laptop, a white bar blinks on top left corner and nothing works further. I diagnosed the system using f12 key. System is pass in all tests but when I try to enter setup, it asks for "Password/unlock key" with a hint number but as I don't know any such password, how can I access my system ?

I am using dell vostro 3450 laptop.
If its your windows pass word this won't work, you need to set up yr first boot to either disk or usb then download a windows password changer, n make sure its bootable then boot from it n follow the directions of the password changer. Y can use linux but its a bit more complicated n they is plenty software free to use but y have to use a boot disk cause it wont let you with the free trial. Hope this helps..

jose alvarado Honestly I'm not sure. I stumbled across this by accident. Did you hold the power button for 10 seconds while shorting the legs? Also remove the BIOS battery and the regular battery as well.

I need to know what to unscrew, what to pray and not to pray so I can get the keyboard off and expose the motherboard.
I spent 46 minutes talking to Dell this afternoon. When I boot the computer up and go to the BIOS it says on the bottom "Locked". When you click on the "Lock" icon it give me a window to put the password in. After talking to Dell Customer service they ask for information including the Express Ticket number and the bar code on the battery. They even ask me if the power supply was the one that came with the computer. I told them we are Microsoft Refurbisher and get donations all the time and I didn't know if this power cord was the one with the laptop. Heck, I have 50 Dell laptop batteries in the cabinet.
Anyway after giving the man all the information he ask for he said he couldn't e-mail me the password but gave it to me slowly.
Every time I put it in it said "Wrong Password".
And that's what happened today.

i don't advise any to do this, because it is too risky, i had tried in my HP Elitebook 850 g3 Laptop and i have lost the motherboard which costs more than 1000 $ , the security in the new generation of laptops is like icloud in iphones, you can unlock the bios only by calling it's company and confirm that you are the owner of this PC

Honestly just like any laptop you can pull the batt out for like 5 mins n leave it un plugged with batt out n it will re set the bios. I was looking for the dell N5050 n I just didnt want to pull it apart.
Ok i stand corrected. You have to short it with a jumper wire. I honestly didnt kn they added this security feature to it.

Try draining power by holding the power button afterwards. Mine didn't want to turn on afterwards either, until I did that. As I said, this worked for me, found it on my own but I take no responsibility for what happens. I'm sorry if this damaged your laptop.
