- The Ruger SP101 is a series of revolvers that first saw production in 1989. They are made by the premiere gun maker Ruger, which has a long history of making high-quality revolvers, and guns, in general. It is a solid choice for concealed carry, personal defense, and even home defense.
Rewatching breaking bad and instantly recognized this gun!
Nice!
Just just bought the .357 SP101 used, for $350. Pretty awesome. This is going to be my “truck” gun
What a deal!
$350? You sure that’s not a typo lol?
That's an insane price for that gun. I paid 650$ and that was 100$ cheaper than the other store
It was a police trade in and a little dirty/grimey but it cleaned up very nicely. Took a little TLC but it’s a stainless gun so it was pretty easy
I gave 625 for a used 3" last year!
Magnifico revolver .como todos los fabricados por ruger saludos desde españa
Yes it is.
I just bought this gun last week! Super happy with it.
That's great to hear you're happy with it. Enjoy.
Prohibited in Canada, because 'short barrel bad'. Otherwise I'd love one
Sorry to hear that.
Just bought one in .357. I love it! There's something to be said about a well built, uncomplicated wheel gun.
Well done! I have a 3" 38 SP101. Love it.
They are very good. Thanks for the comment.
I bought the 3" model a long time ago & still one of my absolute favorites!
I greatly like the one I have in .357. Great little pocket revolver with a crimson trace laser on it.
Very nice. Thanks for the comment Chris.
I have the 357 magnum spurless, and I love it.
I always loved the SP101 and the old Ruger Security/Speed Six series that preceded it.
They are sweet shooters.
These revolvers are so well made that I think most of them will still be functioning over 200 years from now.
I’ve owned this revolver a long time & still one of my favorite firearms in my collection. It’s a little tank.
Very nice revolver.
Yes it is. Thanks for the comment John.
Really love mine. 38Spl, bought used. Loves hot ammo, lol, appears like I'm more accurate shooting hot ammo through it.
Awesome. Thanks for the comment Jon.
I bought mine in 357 Mag and carry it with 38 SPCL +P with a speed loader loaded with 357. I later bought another SP101 with 4” barrel chambered in 327 Fed Magnum so I could shoot all the 32 caliber loads in it: 32 S&W, 32 S&W Long, 32 Auto (it is semi rimmed cartridge), 32 H&R Magnum and the 327 Fed Magnum.
I’ve taken my sp101 2.25in out to 50 yards hit on a c zone steel target 3 out of five shots double action. Not great but doable
It was actually originally supposed to be my first gun, something happened at the ffl, their fault not mine and they sent it back. Ended up with my 686+ and I love it, but I'd love to add an sp101 to my revolver collection. Like anything Ruger made, they're made like tanks and you feel it when you pick em up. This would be a great little woods gun or back up.
SP101 and 686 are beautys: ruclips.net/video/go4orAm4rFA/видео.html
@@Gunscom that is a beautiful gun, and you got a prelock. Don't ever let go of that one. I also have a 19-3 from the early 70s and I wouldn't let that one go either
I have a foid card and am looking to purchase one, what type ammo does this use? I can venture a guess but I’m new to firearms and can use all the info I can get
I know I've seen them chambered in 9mm,38,38/357,327 mag. I'm thinkin they may of chambered one in 22lr also, but I've never seen one
This must be an older model being in 38 instead of 357. Do you think the one you have could handle 38+p ?
Has nothing to do with older. 357 existed long before the sp101.
@Gieszkanne I think he means because it's. 38 only. If I'm not mistaken, they only make them in .357 and canceled the 38 years ago. Mine is chambered in .38 only and is over 25 years old. Still looks identical to the ones being made today. What a great gun!!
And yes it can easily handle the hottest 38 loads. I believe the 357 and 38 are identical In strength and build quality. The 38 version just has a A cylinder that won't accommodate 357.
@@lurewars No the .38 special version is still on Rugers homepage. Yes they are identical. I think not even the cylinder is shorter on the .38 just the chamber. So actually you ccould just exchange the cylinder and shoot .357 out of it. I have no idea why they offer the .38. Maybe for some countries where .357 is not legal? S&W j frames that are .38 special only have less meat and couldnt take .357.
@Gieszkanne thanks for the correction. Was wrongfully told it was discontinued years ago. Not exactly sure why they currently bother. Way back when I bought mine. First new handgun I ever bought right after my birthday. The .38 version was $250. The .357 was $300. Cash was too tight to spend the extra. I have no idea if that was a good choice or not, but I still often carry it to this day. A few scrapes and scratches but still functions like a new tight revolver. Never a single issue with it.
That's my only snub. .357 Mag, eats plenty of .38 Spl +P. I load all of my own ammo. It is monumentally loud when
shooting my .357 Mag Loads. I am not a first time revolver owner. My first revolver was a Ruger Security Six in 1980.
Flawless gun
Thanks for the comment. It is solid for sure.
I ve had one in 357 since 2015 and it's been nothing but reliable and a joy to shoot. You can definitely make good shots well beyond 10 yards with not much practice. I really enjoy the double action on it, it has a very predictable consistant break and is very easy to stage. The one in the video looks like it needs to be detailed striped and cleaned. It had light rust and crap on the hand and some other areas. It looks like it was carried in a hot humid environment and not cleaned much. Anyways thanks for the content. 🙏
Only downfall is it’s heavy for a pocket carry
I had one of these in .357 Mag with a 2 1/4" barrel. I traded it for a rifle several years ago, I want to get another one with a 3" barrel.
Can never find 'em 😞
Does the sp 101 9mm require moon clips
3” with 158 grain .357 mag hp
I bought the 9mm version a few months ago. My first weapon. Over 1500 rounds shot. I changed the trigger spring to 12lbs…to lighten the pull a bit. No issues. If you have a big hand, the sp101 9mm may be a bit awkward even with a grip change. Not sure if the 357 frame is a bit larger. Still, solid gun. I luv it….
Haven't seen anybody bragg about accuracy with these guns
You can watch numerous videos online of people hitting 5" groups at 40-50ft. Hickok 45 was ringing his going at like 80 yards with one chambered in 357/38. People often have a hard time with accuracy with snub nose revolvers, but it's just because of short sight radius and poor hand control. I know because I'm one of them. I cant hit a paint bucket at 20ft,but it's not the gun,its the operator. That being said, its made for conceal carry and youd have a hard time claiming self defense if you shot someone 25ft away from you. It suits my needs, but I need more practice with it.
5 ??? 38spl ? caliber fuck bulz no more (((( 45 win magnum thw .. 41 - minimum
Hello, I am in France and I need the part KW00900 CRANE LATCH. I cannot find it in Europe, where can I order it in the USA? THANKS
Bonjour , je suis en France et j ai besoin de la piece KW00900 CRANE LATCH .Je ne la trouve pas en Europe , ou je peux le commander au USA ? merci
2:10 ".38 special is not a potent round" say the "gun expert" lol
Just picked one up in 357 Magnum used it has Badger wood grips on it its a very nice gun!
I have a holster from Kirkpatrick on order. Tnx
I hate what they’ve done with the hammer shaving off metal
L'ho avuta mi manca un arma bellissima ❤❤

Absolutely
An excellent brief overview.

Great revolver 👍
You can also fire 38 Long Colt and 38 Short Colt out of these but finding that at most stores is highly unlikely
Nope

What i dont like about revolvers is their big recoil..except for the Chiapa Rhino
In .38 Special that revolver has very little recoil. He is however in my opinion wrong about pocket carry. The trigger pull is no where near as bad as he suggests and it is easily capable of 25 yard shots
Not much recoil with .38 spl.
