LAX is pretty good stuff. I tried out 500 rounds of their "New" .45 ACP 230 gr ammo. It was very good, appears to be another company that uses their own plated bullets. Two years later i'm still using their brass to reload more ammo with.

Better have ear protection. .357 indoors? Literally deafening. I use semis for home defense and have suppressors for both M-4 and C-75. Of course, I acquired tinnitus during 20 yrs as LEO (using what I found out later to be second-rate hearing protection) and wouldn't want to do more damage, even while saving my life. Take care of your ears. You don't want ringing, chirping, cricket-sound in your head every minute for the rest of your life (plus notable loss of high freq hearing).

I have had a SP101 in .357 mag with 2.25" barrel since the late 80s! It has been my primary carry weapon for most of that time. Accurate, durable, dependable. I originally qualified for my concealed carry with it. I often carry in in my boot top, usually in a belt slide holster! One of the things that has endeared it to me is the comfort of not hurting from recoil as so many snubbies do. I remember firing a Colt Detective's special many years ago. Thing was very hard on my knuckles. Not a problem with the SP101!

Buffalo's Outdoors I went to the range yesterday with a new Glock 43 so I took the Ruger SP101 with me. I was shooting the Glock at 10 yards getting acceptable groups but when I switched to the Ruger my groups tightened up considerably. I put a set of Wolfe springs in couple years ago and hadn’t spent much time with it, my loss. This thing is a beast at 10 yards. It has the perfect wall that’s easy to reach and smooth to pass. I guess it’ll be going to the range as a regular from now on. I didn’t take enough ammo to stretch it out, next trip for sure, might even get the Match Champion safe queen out. Again thanks for the inspiration.

I comparison to most other "Ruger SP-101" reviews on YT, I find that you have gone out of your way to clarify that the SP-101 is not a single firearm but a series of firearms that are offered in various caliber, barrel length and hammer configurations. I have the 357 w 2 1/4 barrel.
I added a hogue grip to mine which is a little longer and better padding - greatly improved handling.

Just subscribed to your channel, I am a revolver “convert” I have switched over to a Ruger GP100 3 inch .357 and a SP101 .357 (loaded with .38 special) as a “New York Reload” and a Smith & Wesson 442 Airweight as a pocket carry...I have watched several of your videos and am impressed with your reviews and your shooting...as an old Army gunslinger to another shootist...keep burning that powder and carry on!

Your revolver mastery is just amazing. Really enjoyed your presentation. I sure love my SP101. Did a trigger job and put a Big Dot (little dot version) on my front sight. That makes it hit point of aim and point of impact with 357. Its a great sight picture and much better than the OEM sight. I tried all sorts of paint with the OEM sight and while it worked ok, I am much happier with the dot. Using my Lab Radar I am getting 530 foot pounds of energy from Buffalo Bore ammo. That dwarfs anything in the 9 mm +P offering by 200 foot pounds.

With practice this can be done. A friend of mine and I regularly shoot pistols of different calibers at clay birds from 100 yards with great success. Lots of friendly fun competition and you’d be surprised at how good you can get, but it dose require practice.
    Good shooting!

It was a one time thing but little gestures like that go a long way with a small channel like mine. The ammo seemed very accurate/consistent especially for remanned. They also sent me a couple of boxes of their new manufactured ammo which I haven't shot yet.

  • @cameronnorton5898

LAX Ammo is just Freedom Munitions. That's Freedom's "sister site".
Thier ammo usually works, but the bullets tend move back and forth in the cases. When I bought their 9mm, I noticed it was very easy to push the bullet down into the case just by pinching it with my thumb.
It also has hard primers. So hard my Ruger Security 9 fails to set of the cartridges about 20% of the time. All my other pistols seemed to eat it up fine though.

I just purchased this firearm NIB Wiley Clapp model , and I have to say the trigger pull was really gritty and hard, it sounded like a 1970’s Clunker definitely wasn’t impressed but I purchased it anyway.
The guy at the gun store put a few drops of oil and it seemed like it smoothed out just a little bit.
At home I already had new trigger and hammer shims , and new Wilson Combat trigger and hammer springs, both #10’s , ( all parts where under $25 )so I got to work immediately.
After taking the gun apart I used 1500 sandpaper and gently smoothen out any rough edges without taking off any metal of course, and also used some stainless steel polish, as I was putting everything back I applied some oil with a Q-tip.
Now it feels much better and hopefully I can go to the range and I have no lite primer strikes .
I understand that after paying $716 for a firearm you shouldn’t have to work on it , but I do enjoy working on my firearms , and also I did choose it over the $1000 plus Kimber K6.
One last thing was your trigger the same way ?
Update: the Ruger had no lite hits on 38 or 357 I shot 50 rounds of each.
    The sight where on target.
If I could do it again I’ll go with the Kimber K6
