- Yes that's right in this video you will see me drive this truck out of my garage for the first time and throw it in reverse and drive it back in my garage.

Wow, thats exciting Larry !!! all that work is paying off... I love how Ron asks "do the brakes work" as you are driving it out.. Too funny.... brothers for life... Congrats
we still have to do some adjusting to the carburetor to get the idle down. Also need to put more gas in the tank and change the fuel filters. But other than that it works fine. I had it in 2 wheel low. next we try 4 wheel drive. Thanks for watching.
Congratulations Larry!
thanks George still have to get the idle mixture straightened on the carburetor to get the idle down but for its first under power test it did pretty good. Thanks for watching. I can't drive it on the open road yet don't have plates or registration and no insurance.
It's great to see you finally drive it Larry. Hats off to you and Ron. The US flag was a nice touch too :)
It was great to finally get it driving. I had to have a U.S. Flag on it after all its named Sgt Bilko. Thanks for watching.
Larry It won't be long before you and Ron will be running the roads! For a few minutes there I thought you and Ron might have to push that Dodge back in the garage but you got it back in. Congrats and thanks for the video, Slim.
we can always get it started. I don't have it registered nor do I have plates and no insurance. need to get those before I hit the road. Its not idling slow enough think some of the crud in the gas may have plugged the idle speed jet. so have to clean that out and try again.
Larry,
Good to go, my friend. Now all you need is an Army steel pot. You just can drive a rig like that without an authentic helmet, so visit your local Army surplus store soon.🙂
Regards,
John
Yes John in this state it can only be registered as a parade or an off road vehicle. But it still idles to fast pretty sure the idle speed jet is clogged up. But my drive system brake system and fuel system work great and well as the 72 year old clutch gears and tires.
Good stuff Larry! Looks like the clutch is a bit jumpy though.
That wasn't the clutch that was me getting used to the gears steering and making sure i didn't end up to far out in the street. It has no license plate no registration and no insurance so a bit illegal to drive very far.
Well done!
Thanks Matt we need to get it to idle a little slower. may have an idle speed jet that is clogged but other than that it runs fine. My driveway is on an incline so it has to work a bit harder in reverse.
Congratulations Larry what’s the next thing to do are you going to get new tires for it
Nope no new tires these hold air fine and have not fallen apart even though they are 72 years old. Tires and tubes way too expensive. It would cost about $2600 for tires and tubes. Thats what I paid for the truck itself and have another $2000 in parts since restoring it. This project takes a lot of money and I have 3 other vehicles to take care of besides this toy. It can't even be registered as a daily driver in this state. Only as a parade vehicle.
