      If you want an Arch Linux experience try using Garuda Linux distro or CachyOS I still haven't used it I've been wanting to try out NetrunnerOS which is still KDE Plasma I had it the first time and it was pretty an amazing experience way better than DeepinOS for now I am running Linux Mint Cinnamon for VPN support.

    Crazy thing happens after I updated (in Arch) from Cinnamon 6.0.4 to Cinnamon 6.2, is that the Panel Settings won't open. Searched all over the internet for troubleshooting this issue and can't find anything. :( EDIT: I resolved this issue by creating a new panel after which the Panel Settings GUI then opens.

    I'm excited to try out the new update. I started using Linux Mint around version 15, but I began experiencing audio stuttering issues from version 18 onwards. On Arch Linux, I haven't encountered any sound problems. Hopefully, this update will address whatever needs fixing regarding that issue. Normally, I would seek help on forums, but I'm unsure where the root of the problem lies.
    Don't want to go to the forums, without having a way to replicate the issue or knowing what application is causing it.
    Cause those audio issues also happen in Fedora, which usually also has the latest technologies so not sure.

    How is your menu floating?

  • @SouthFacedWindows

    Hey your wallpaper on wayland didint fully expand because you are on VM. You do need the vm guest additions as well to wayland to work properly.

  • @theredx3196
    @theredx3196 14 дней назад +3

    hey... anytime you change the display resolution in a VM it will never adjust the wallpaper... all you would have to do to resolve that is always to restart cinnamon!

    • @SwitchedtoLinux
      @SwitchedtoLinux  14 дней назад

      Incorrect. I adjusted it in x perfectly, and every distro I have tried that with in X works. Just Wayland distros do not correct the wallpaper...I will test restarting cinnamon though. I didn't try that.

    With workspaces, something I wish I could do is drag a window into it on the taskbar and drop it to another workstation instead of right clicking send to. Maybe there's a way to set this up.
    Then, if your reading this or someone else knows, you said you liked the panel launcher, on Linux mint, where you can add apps to the panel as static apps and not only if opened. I need this but how do I add an app? Do I just do something with the command? I haven't been able to figure this out. Apps I add don't have their default icon. Doesn't seem easy to set up.

    • @SwitchedtoLinux
      @SwitchedtoLinux  14 дней назад +1

      Shift+Ctrl and the left and right arrows will move an application between workspaces.
      For apps, if you use pinning apps, in the menu, right click the app and add it to the panel. If you use launchers, drag it out of the menu and drop it into the launchers section.

      @@SwitchedtoLinux Awesome thanks! Ive been lining my icons up top and deleting the labels(spaces). Wasn't aware that you can dag from the menu.
      Now if I could set the transparency of the panel clear, that would be good. I was using the transparent panels extension on my two monitors but recently discovered the reason for a problem I've been dealing with for a long time now. My computer would lag real bad, like getting 10 fps. If there was a full screen on a monitor, the panel would go opaque and the lag would disappear. Came to find out just a few days ago that the extension causes lag on multiple monitors. Ive actually reinstalled mint twice for that reason. so if anyone is having lag, this is could be the why.

    When does Cinnamon 6.2.2 come out for LMDE?

    • @SwitchedtoLinux
      @SwitchedtoLinux  13 дней назад +2

      Most likely will be rolled out once the next stable Linux Mint is released since the LMDE software comes from the Linux Mint repo.

    I used to like Cinnamon. but over the last two years or so, i've really gotten into KDE Plasma. I don't think i could go back at this point.

      Cinnamon is more of a "retro" vibe type feeling Arch Linux is for those I want to show off based experience I mainly need something for gaming not for bragging rights I just want to play some games but using Linux almost turned me into an Arch Linux addict by accident which made me figure out how to force myself to install Arch Linux. It's nothing like Windows or classic Windows anyway the best feeling for that I found out on Linux is using Cinnamon which I may switch to Ubuntu Cinnamon for a more premium based architect.

    Does it introduce Wayland? The big question.

    • @zekicay
      @zekicay 13 дней назад +1

      6.1 introduced Wayland support. 6.2 fixes most of the basic issues it had, especially ones with nVidia hardware. The plan is to have it in testing for the entire Linux Mint 22 release cycle and make it default in Mint 23 (in 2026).

    Wayland running "lightweight"? lol! Wayland uses over 1GB more RAM than X11. Also to code a wayland application requires triple the amount of lines of code as X11.

      This is just a basic arch linux, booted the archer installer and used the simple #archinstall command on the bootup to install it and selected cinnamon as the desktop environment. Arch is the only distro I know of that is currently shipping Cinnamon 6.2
