@ContantContact It's hilarious when people like you try to use grammar as a weapon. Doesn't change the fact that what he said is true and its embarrassing that your only rebuttal was to attack his grammar 😂

This is why they removed Adwaita: "the theme provides icons for some categories (Internet, Accessories..etc) but not others. Many icons are missing, the desktop looks completely broken and it’s not a bug, it’s a feature. The direction Adwaita is taking is to only support GNOME and nothing else." (blog.linuxmint.com/?p=4675)
i like that they removed the unofficial flatpaks by default... but cannot understand why they removed the ratings if you turn it back on... thats incredible dumb. if you use unofficial software you should at least see the ratings!!!
Thank you for the Linux Mint 22 preview and explanations. Your video header title contains a typo, by the way: "flaship", which you may wish to correct to, 'flagship', when you next have a free moment. Thank you for your hard work and very well put-together video👏!
Glad to see Mint is adopting Ubuntu's HWE. Much more sensible than sticking to an aging LTS kernel series by default. I guess disabling unverified flatpaks by default is a a good idea, but I plan to change my preference to show them so at least I know what's available, and will decide whether to trust the packager on a case by case basis. To that end, as others have pointed out, it would make more sense to permit reviews of unverified flatpaks to be shown . That said, I appreciate the careful, conservative approach the Mint team takes. They really have the interests of their users as their first priority.
This looks really good. Been using Mint for years, since early 18 I believe. I get each new flavor as they come out, in large part, and I've been waiting, with so much anticipation, for 22 that i intend to get it the day it comes out. Thank you for a good video :)
I'm very happy for you that there is multiple language support, I will say that you do a fantastic job explaining in plain terms and your videos are a great help to many of us. Keep up the great work 👍
@@LinuxOrt thank you, I will, take good care of yourself and I can't wait for the next video on this release of Linux Mint.

As an owner of a Thinkpad t470, I nuked Windows 10 a year ago and installed Linux Mint. It's been my daily driver ever since and I love it. Looking forward to Mint 22. Thanks for the preview.
Thank you for this informative video. I've looked at a couple of other videos on v. 22, and this showed me useful little things I hadn't heard about. Your advice to wait a month or so before upgrading was very useful to me: I was starting to think "When will it be out," and really wanting to see new stuff is not the Linux Mint way at all.
When I install a distribution I always install the American English version. Makes it easier, at least for me, when I have to troubleshoot something or search for something within the OS. Before I used the Dutch version, which is my native language BTW, but even than not everything is in Dutch, but more a mix of which I don't like.
I guess this is in many other languages too.. Even in german (which has a huge userbase) also some translations are missing.. (But this is fixed in a few months regulary on the OS)
That option to configure the right click menu, looks amazing!! Even better when you think that Windows 11 does not even allow you to make it look like Windows 10 xD
Having a problem with Matrix. It says that it's installed but nowhere to be found unless I open the software manager and then launch it from there but then it opens up in a web-browser instead of the desktop app.
On my Dell XPS 15 9530 I was not able to get Mint 22 Cinnamon to boot from thumb drive.. Hangs with Mint logo in the middle the screen. Hopefully once it comes out of Beta it will boot.
Linux noob here. If i install chrome, will it allow extensions like adblocker etc? Also does Mint 22 have a version of, or runs Microsoft power tools? I iuse the multi window snap when organizing files to have windows snap to a predetermined size and shape when Ctrl + drag to a specific area of the desktop.
Why would the edge ISO become obsolete? I think it's only for a period of time because there will be new hardware and the kernel will fall behind releases again
@@LinuxOrt Oh, I thought the new version only has the newer kernel because of the updated base. So they will update the kernel in point releases from now on?
Moving from LM 21.3 to 22. Would you recommend an a) Upgrade (much easier and faster) or b) New Install (clean up of rubbish files but make sure that you need to backup everything necessary)?
I dual boot windows and tried multiple linux distros including debian on my Asus Laptop but brightness change value with no effect and I cannot solve it Ive tried every fix on YT what should I do ? :/ this is the only reason im not switching from windows
I like the Windows capability of Mint, I am running Edge from Mint with all of my saved bookmarks, at this point there is no reason to use Mircosoft, I'm sure in the future it will eliminate Windows altogether.
Well, people find it hard to avoid Microsoft completely if they've got jobs, so it would be useful. You don't *have* to sign on with a Microsoft account, which I hope will get quite a few people leaving MS as the default desktop.
I guess it's important for people who want to use linux but have to use MS because of their company e.g. Also some apps like MS Edge are available for linux. If this helps to get some more linux users, it's okay in my opinion.
System is broken. Chrome does not install...cinnamon extensions are buggy as never. Battery i being squized out...i wont create an account on github to provide such bugs.
I totally dumped Windows and switched to Linux Mint back in March and I don't miss Windows at all!

I'm a bit upset that they took Adwaita out of the themeing options, but other than that I'm excited for the official release in a few weeks.
This is why they removed Adwaita:

I agree with you. I personally don't bother about any reviews from the linux mint app center, but they don't have a valid point why removing them..

Hey, were you on the linux cast discussing linux mint? I am pretty sure you were :)
Will this be an upgrade procedure from the current version, or require a fresh install?
Yes, there will be an upgrade precedure, I will post a video about this when it's available :)

Yes you can get Chrome from the software manager and does support extensions but may be blocked on certain sights.
What is the easier way for searching files, contacts, e.t.c. in cinnamon
Mhmm...
For searching folders, recently used files, bookmarks, etc.. I use Linux-Assistant.
