It's just on the driver side and no. After researching I couldn't find any sort of information on what that plate is being used for. I haven't had any problems.
@AdventureGT it's a splash guard meant and extra layer of impact protection to the pinch seam. Weird the passenger side doesn't have one. Both sides have one on my 2016 latitude. It's also designed to keep the tire from getting damaged by the seam

Hey bro lovely build very useful video, i wnted to ask, if you use a lift kit up to 3 inches high, would you still have to do this pinch mod?
That all depends on your set up. My wheel/tire combo my still need the pinch mod even with an extra inch.
