The scratches he mentioned on the "headstock" are easily avoided if you pull the string through, mark it with a sharpie, then pull it out and cut it away from the headstock. Then feed it back through at the perfect length with no risk of damaging the wood

Really digging how they didn't cut any costs with these. All of their specs scream premium, but the prices aren't too extreme. Strandberg basses got themselves some competition for sure. I really want one of these but I just wish they offered the Nordstrand pick-ups in that seafoam green.
My Friend Has one of those basses I must say it is A Tone monster and Really Light and a Neck that plays like Butter. Ibanez has Done it again indeed. 👍Ida is so Funky Great Demo indeed👍😁
I usually get so blown away by Ida's muting and left hand technique that I don't pay as much attention to what is going on with her right hand... the economy and efficiency of movement is ridiculous. Constantly blown away by her technique. It really is close to flawless. Insane.
Great video! I changed the strings on both my EHBs the other day and made a video on it. I didn't mention it, but I ended up using a guitar pick to guard the "headstock" from damage and used cat nail clippers (designated for strings) to cut them.
Really looking into getting one of these basses. Im a big Ibanez fan, and I've never owned a headless or a multiscale bass. Might as well kill two birds with one stone. Great review as always! Thanks my friend.
You have a very strong accent. However, as someone who is not an english native speaker, I can still understand what you are saying. Great explanation btw!
I have one and love it. There's only one problem that can be easily fixed. I've had several actually trying to find which model works best. The sides dots are a bad choice on all of them. They're supposed to glow in the dark which would be a good idea since the neck is roasted so the dots will tend to blend in whether black or white. Trouble is, these don't glow in the dark for more than a few minutes no matter how long you charge them with light. From what I understand the Luminlay dots are much better so I'll probably have to swap them out.
Price is the simple reason why these will struggle to sell, but they are very nice.. If they were £350 to £550 that would be a good starting point but around the £1000+ mark will kill it.. IMHO
Man, I love you Gregor, but if you're going to bring Ida in, please give us a ten minute video with a goid solid 5 minutes of her playing. She's got the material. She's got the stylr. She's got like 2.45 of a vid playing...
I ordered the 1005 and returned it after 2 days. It looks great, the neck is wonderful and a joy to play, the bass is ridiculous light weighted. There were some flaws regarding quality control (glue residues on the 20th fret and upwards, G-tuner was very stiff, and the volume control was loose. The set up was a joke, the strings dull out of the box and the saddle is way to high (and made of plastic, why no zero fret?). All in all, not a big deal. So I set it up to my taste, and exchanged the strings for a set of new Rotosound. But the sound of this bass is really underwhelming. It sounds completely muffled, no matter which setting you dial in. No definition, no treble and if you attempt to cut the mids and boost the high range, it starts to sound very peaky and abrasive. Moreover, the B-string doesn't impress. I have a 15 years old Ibanez BTB 5-string with the Chinese Bartolini Mk1, and it sounds like a complete different bass (even with used strings). It can confirm, that the Bartolini Mk2 and the preamp are really the weak spot of this instrument. If you're looking for a very traditional mid-range sound, which sounds like the tone control is all the way down, then you should consider the EHB1005. If you're looking for a defined, modern and versatile sound which complements the design of this bass: forget it or go for the 1505! I've considered buying the 1505 with the Nordstrands, but I don't like the blue "undersea" finish of this model. Why is there so little choice in colors? I was also hoping for the 1305 (even though i like the roasted maple neck of the 1005 better), but it has the same disappointing sound of the 1005 series if you watch and hear the videos - also on this channel.
I like the headless bass, maybe one day I get me a headless bass have a great pristine sound. It is overwhelming to figure out a bass, I need to play the bass I have already. I need to stop wishing and settle down with any bass and play it, stay safe and God bless.
Ibanez is really making the things much better, good electronics and woods, plus original models and not only Pbass and Jazz Basses ( wich i love!...but c'mon!)
Headless basses look cool but when I used one the lack of headstock meant I spent too much time looking at the neck rather than interacting with the drummer - especially for moves where the headstock in my peripheral vision was all I usually needed to hit the correct fret. If I got one now, I'd put a flag or a light on the end! 😊

I got a brand new 2021 Ibanez EBH1005SMS-EMM bass a few days ago. It seems to have a manufacturing defect. When the EQ switch is set to ON, attenuating the Treble Boost/Cut control does nothing. It’s as if that circuit is not connected inside the EQ. To prevent scratches on the headstock, it wouldn't be hard to make your own guard out of plastic card or even card board from a cereal box.
