I think this might be the best sounding of the EHB line. Hardly anything would sound bad in Lars' hands though lol.
Thank you very much! 🙂
Unless it was Lars from Metallica.
I like how he suddenly grows a full head of hair every time he starts playing
A bit of Jack Bruce from 0:52 if I'm not mistaken. White Room!
Absolutely right, MrMiller! 😀
The official Ibanez demo clip on this model was sub par, this is very helpful. Thank you for your excellent work as always.
Yuki Atori himself is a great bass player. Even fretless basses usually sound good when he plays them. But somehow in this video he didn't do his skills justice
@@TheDiamondBladeHD I do agree Yuki is a monster on bass, generally. For some reason, this year Ibanez demos (those mainly coming from Japanese artists) overall were quite disappointing, I thought...
あんたの演奏聴いたけどそんな事言えるレベルじゃなかったぞ。
sub parって言葉そのまま返すわ。
Finally a proper review of the new Ibanez!
Really love the sound and how it plays
Might consider looking into getting one this year
The close up b-roll was absolutely insane!!
what a beauty. damn..
I gotta try this one.
Thanks for yet another very pertinent video/review.
cheers from Portugal
Ibanez’s most extraordinary accomplishment is somehow only releasing the colors/finishes I want the most into configurations I don’t particularly want lol. Put this finish on the multiscale fretted version and it’s basically an insta-buy.
Good point 😁
It's the other way around for me. hahaha
it really has a late 80's/early 90's look to it.. those control knobs are the same ones i have on my zon bass, had them on my ibanez SDGR and i had them on a modulus Q4 i used to own, both 80's/90's basses..
Thought I recognized White Room at 0:53 ❤Jack Bruce has been huge influence on me
... and on me! Jack is THE MAN! Atb, Lars
Wow, it's really impressing!!! Love the sound and the design.
I think the design is amazing but the sound is really cheap to me. Sounds so synthetic and unlike any bass I've ever heard, but maybe there will be a market for this guitar that is not me. When he's playing on the clean tones, it sounds so weak and toneless. 🤮
@@boomerbutler7569 hm.. are you using something weak and toneless to listen to this demo? Because I'd agree if listening through laptop or cellular phone speakers, but with decent headphones or a proper set of monitors this bass sounds rather impressive.
@Boomer Butler I agree with @TerriblePeril , I'm using a Topping DAC and a simple AKG headphone but the sound is really good, sure maybe not the best out there but for sure a good sound, of course IMO
It's a nice looking instrument and the passive sound is awesome.
Wow!! Now I like this Fretless, thank you BASS the World, and thanks LARS LEHMANN 👍❤️🙂☮️🎸
Always welcome, Reuben! 🙂
I bought this bass and it is absolutely amazing! Worth the wait
Could you tell me please which strings do you use? Thanks
That is one cool bass....
Great player too...
Thanks....
Take care....more videos please...
Thank you, Tiger! 🙂
That sounds amazing! Well done Lars. Did you have any pedal effects on it during the video or was that the way it sounds with no pedals?
I like the side indicator lines. Like the old Musician basses!
One of my students has a 4 string fretted version of this bass. I thought it felt great and I was really impressed with it. I bought one of the ehb1005f models and it came with several quality control issues. I’ve ironed the issues out, but there shouldn’t have been any issues. Hey Ibanez, whats up with your quality control?
@@evilchameleon69 Sorry to hear this. I did end up returning my Ibanez. Too much money to be as bad as it was.
Oh boy, I saw the Ashula in the back, can't wait!
Would love to get the tabs for that intro riff absolutely love it
I have one on order. Just waiting for it to be shipped.
Awesome bass, great playing. What are you using to make and record that sound please LOL ? 😉💚👽
With a locking output jack, be sure to use a coily cable to avoid tugging accidents.
Lars "from Mars" Lehmann = 👑🤟🧨💥
Wow! That Fretless sounds sweet! Wish it came with a white finish but that blue is cool. (Wife loves blue.😌❤️🎶👍🏾) Lars killing it AS ALWAYS!!🤨🎶👍🏾
Thankfully with the jacks used on the EHBs, you can quite easily & non-destructively make them non-locking by removing the spring inside 🙂
Cool outro!
Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like the locking jack. I have an EHB1265MS, it's fantastic, but maybe I'll get the jack replaced at some point. I agree with Gregor, it worries me, as I stepped on my cable once (with another bass) and it pulled right out of the bass, which is what I'd prefer.
@@309550176 Thanks! I'll look into that.
Does anyone know what settings did Lars use in that intro tune? That tone was AWESOME! I can definitely hear a bit of a chorus, balance towards the bridge pickup (maybe even soloed) but anything else? Absolutely killer sound!
It’s an ambient stereo chorus plugin and heavy compression
What was the into Lars?
Thank you!
Just bought this and you're so right about the cable jack issue.. I need 2 hands to press the red button down! Also, yes, the bass does ship with round wound strings and scratches on the neck. Your review is spot on though, overall it plays like a dream and the tone is incredible for this price range.
I just use one hand, pushing the button with my thumb while pulling the string out. No issue whatsoever.
How is the weight of the bass? I’m considering getting this but needed a bass that is 9.5 lbs or less. Thanks!
I'm going to buy the same and am just a little bit confused about which flatwound strings could I use? I mean, I should cut them, is it OK? What strings do you use? Thanks
Wow, sounds almost as good as my Sandberg Panther 5 Fretless!
great video ...but who ruined the fretboard between C and A on the A string?
oh, baby
Why no flatwound strings??? The Ibanez SRF700 comes with flatwounds and they sound great 😃
Nice video. Was that White Room by Cream Lars was playing at 0:53 ?
Indeed, my friend! Atb, Lars 🙂
Wanderfuuulll!!!
I've never played a fretless Lars so just sent that one to me
さすがアイバニーズだ。ボディのデザインは個性的だがシンプルで品があり美しい…。
what pedal do I use to create the second effect?
Exciting bass. The first thing I would do is deposit those Bartolini's into the nearest waste receptacle where they belong and put in some Nordstrands like on the higher end EHB. From comparison's I've seen it's like taking the blanket off of your speaker when you change out the Barts.
Or put real Barts on it, I did it on my SR806MS day and night, I put Bartolini jazz soap bars and now it sounds like a boutique bass, those BH2 Ibanez uses are just garbage
@@Javi45x What is the model number of the soap bars you used please?
@@aaronjohnson5180 hi, I used the P46J series
It really depends on the preamp also. Some Barts are super bright depending on what's inside. The Tobias Growler from early 90s had a Bartolini MM style humbucker that sounded pretty amazing. I also had a electric upright with Bartolini preamp and it sounded fine. I know that's pre-amp vs Pup, but I'm just making the point that not all Bartolini products sound muffled.
A fretless with roundwounds ❤
Ah. Well now I’m in a pickle because I definitely wanted one of the multiscale EHBs, and now I kinda love the fretless too! 😬 Maybe Ibanez would consider a double-neck version… 5 string MS + 4 string fretless 🤤
I am so about this
What is that compact bass stand you are using? I’m looking for something similar for my gigs.
all my stands are from K&M
I love this guy and I hope jorge sprague and him have a baby so it can grow up to become a content creator that makes weaponized basses. Lets look at its features!
Im waiting for multiscale fretless xDDD
Gods I wish this came in left handed. Great playing also.
Thanks man! 🙂
Beauty! Since the bass has a passive/active toggle switch, can you keep playing this bass in passive mode if the battery dies or without a battery?
I can’t check it anymore but I doubt it
I own Ibanez basses with the same preamp. Sure, I can play them without a battery. Another related piece of information: one should not leave a cable plugged in when there's a battery inside as the battery is drained even when in passive mode.
I cant speak for this specific bass but my charvel has a passive toggle which basically bypasses the preamp and can be played with dead/no battery.
Does this come in 6?
What is the price ?
Hi. Please tell me what effects are you using in this video? Thanks 🎉
There‘s a chorus plugin on the bass in the intro and some reverbs throughout the video, but we didn’t use any pedals
Красивое :)
Not a fan of the color for the body and richlite fingerboard and hopefully they come up with more color options, but otherwise the EHB body shape and electronics are pretty nice.
Are yoyu guys reviewing the SRC6MS?
not sure yet. we'll see
Jack Bruce bass line!
Yeah! White room!
Maybe to avoid string marks on the fretboard should be adding flatwounds?
I've had good success with half wounds for those folks who don't want to go full flat.
Little bit of witness marks is more than a fair trade-off for using round wounds and getting that mwah for me. They sound phenomenal on this bass.
Hmmm. Different. Pretty cool. Nice tones, esp the passive. And Lars is, well he's Lars!
The line Lars is playing @0:52 sounds familiar - is it Hendrix? Anyone know? thx :)
ruclips.net/video/VR90gQ-SIaY/видео.html 🙂
@@LarsLehmannBassplayer Of course! Jack Bruce - another master of the fretless arts. Thanks for the reply, Lars, and the tasty licks :)
@@bongosock Anytime, my friend! 🙂
Is the colloquial term for a Fretless Headless bass a 'Fred-Less' bass? 🙂
This bass is so beautiful, makes me wish I played bass just to justify buying ir
Will you try the Bergantino new product ? :D (super pre)
Just arrived today!
@@basstheworldofficial hard to get one to europe, cost a bit more too. But will receive mine soon too. Will be happy if you share some presets ! 😃
I’m not Ibanez user but always give me interesting video. Thanks! Hello from Japan
Such an amazing riff! BTW as anoying as the jack plug is , get an longuer jack cable! i think it is for live situation in case an idiot walk on your jack b4 your solo , like what happen in cane festival years ago to " fff " . in home situation it sucks and a dome in one is by far what i like most.
Wish there was a 4 string version. I feel like the fretboard could be too wide
I really wish Ibanez would sell those headless bridges and string locks separately. I'd love to put them on my bass
They do. You can buy them in the roland-meinl store
They do. Search through a local Ibanez dealer
DER GLOCKENKLANG!
Poezja.
I gotta have one. Time to sell stuff.
Fanned fretless!
👍👍👍👌
Looks really cool, but my SRF705 sounds better because it has piezo in addition to bartolinies.
Why do they always build these necks without fret lines. I don‘t want to struggle to play without lines.
next product: Ibanez goes BASSLESS
I agree about the locking jack thing, not a fan
It's a pity that the good Ibanez basses are only available as 5-string. Once you buy it, you can't get rid of it. Most bassists I know want 4-string. I feel the same way, once you're used to a four-string, doing back vocals at the same time without getting caught is really exhausting. Love my BTB from the sound and its playability, but a four-string would be better for me, . for rehearsals and gigs I always discharge him the B-string.Thanks, Groovy greetings Kay
Well....at least I don't have any money. Cus I'd be buying this bass and the new Ashula 7 string right now...then be in debt a couple thousand. 😆
Hmmm….could be more sustain for a fretless…
Do they have flatwounds on them….
It almost has a mysterious Arabic sound at times
i think it would be 'more' beautiful if the upper horn didn't look like a piece of plastic which warped... to me it looks like the upper horn has been tugged upwards, to my eye the cutaway where it hits the neck should either be in line with the lower cutaway OR more perpendicular to the neck., it looks weird to me. sounds killer though, cool color too
I was waiting on your review of this! Ibanez’s own demo of this was poor and didn’t really show what the instrument can do
The fretboard looks damaged by the roundwounds.
Would never use anything but flatwounds or tapewounds on it.
Surprisingly, the BH2s don't sound that awful on this bass
Its headless, fretless and also gluten free 😅
where is the sustain? it's needed to call it singing on a fretless
Now you have no where to put your cig.
I've never seen a locking jack until now, and it sound like a giant gimmick ngl.
They've been around for a long long time
I cant wait till they make a Fretless and headless and bodyless and neckless and stringless and bridgeless bass and or guitar
Is it just me or is there actually not that much sustain for a fretless?
Fretless basses tend to have less sustain, as the string vibrates directly against the fretboard. Basically the thing that causes that fretless "singing" sound costs you some sustain. With frets the contact area of the string and the fret is much smaller.
@@xngr I meant it has less sustain than other fretless basses I've heard
A little low on the sustain imo.
Dead note! At 1:40 his playing hits that note a few times that practically refuses to sound. It has virtually no response and zero sustain. If that’s happening on a model Ibanez sent to be reviewed, that doesn’t say good things about quality control.
...was really "loud" to hear - you re not the only one who noticed that.
Yep, noticed it immediately and that's not good.
Look at that guy talk, shit,,,,, Now i see the beauty gone,,,,
What a Less..
looks bit like a kiesel bass
It seems like Ibanez doesn't want us to love this bass; poor in-house release demo, minimal push for better press, single color way, different from any other in the lineup. It sounds pretty great, the EHB shape is what it is (I like it, but not everyone does I'm sure) but MAN if it had a little more in common with the upper tier EHB offerings, I'd IMMEDIATELY jump on it.
First time seeing the outro vid...
No.
