- 'Counterparts and Number Them' from the debut self-titled album by Alexisonfire.
---
Alexisonfire is the first studio album released by post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. It was released on October 31, 2002 and recorded when members Chris Steele, Wade MacNeil and Jesse Ingelevics were only 17 years old. In October 2005, the album was given gold certification as it sold over 50,000 units in Canada.
On January 14, 2014, a remastered version of the album was released through Dine Alone Records.
---
Hailing from St. Catharines, Alexisonfire rose up out of the Southern Ontario underground in late 2001, to become one of the most successful indie bands in Canada. The band’s success also reached far beyond Canada’s borders. AOF released four hugely successful studio albums, Alexisonfire (2002), Watch Out (2004), Crisis (2006), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals (2009). Crisis debuted at #1 on the Top 200 Soundscan chart (Canada), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals debuted at #2, and charted at #9 on the US Billboard Independent Album chart. Watch Out helped earn the band New Group of the Year at the 2004 JUNO Awards. Their first 3 albums achieved Platinum certification in Canada while Old Crows / Young Cardinals reached Gold certification. The band also topped charts and graced several notable music magazine covers internationally (Kerrang, Blunt, Big Cheese, Canadian Musician, Exclaim! ). AOF’s sold-out 10th Year Anniversary Farewell tour in December 2012 touched down on four continents in 24 days, illustrating how meaningful the band still is to their legion of fans around the world.

My childhood memories right here.
I was 11 years old and looked at these guys like they were adults.. I’m now 30 and still listen to them on the regular. Life’s short and goes so fast.. they were fucken kids!
My youth is slipping.. my youth is slipping away..
Youth might slip but this song will stay on my playlist till my deathbed 🙌
you just have to love the contrast between how edgy the music is and how wholesome the video is, hope they can get this restored in HD some day
15 years later and still fucking wicked.
woolife no shit
Damn, Robbie from Victorious going off
SWEATERRRRR
My best friend and I always say sweater with that inflection
@@crystleloomos Ever since I first saw this video years ago I have done that as well lol
Pum pum pum pum pum
Twice, as. Worn in,
Does he really say sweater? I know it sounds like it but I always assumed he was actually saying "I swear"
2020 and this time is still sick
Got me going through this covid19 bullshit! Love this shit
This album definitely changed my life... sweater
This song always skipped at a certain part on my cd, only for a second, and I swear for the rest of my life it’s always there. Kinda makes me happy
Best video ever.
totally agree
20 years old, wtf. I remember hearing this for this first time, I grew up in a small town and went to band camp during the summer of my middle school year and a guy going into his senior year showed me this record. I couldn't believe music like this existed. He showed me so many different genres of music with his giant cd booklet. It was like the akashic records of music to me.
Cannot fucking wait to see them live again. I pray they play at least some tracks off their first album. If they play Counterparts I will cry
take me back to 2002 PLEASE! :(
So glad that they are back playing music again. I think this will always be my favorite song by them though. Always loved the intro lead.
I miss 2003
I was born in 2003.

Jennifer,
They lied to you.
When they said you couldn't breathe underwater.
(So here it is, the end is near)
I lied, too, when I said that I was hard.
(Never would've thought this might be something you'd so easily discard)
I'm soft
Softer

But I will be found again.

This is gold from my teenager' years!
2003 I woulda been 4-5 years old , had many older cousins. A small percentage of my memory remembers this video
Oh man, miss this so so much 😱
It's crazy how much Iron Maiden influenced early Alexis
Kyle Smith how do you figure?
I can really hear it in the first riff. Goddamn
been looking for this song for years!!!
This was the first song I had ever heard with screaming in it.
Fuckin love this band and miss them man , kids nowadays don't know what real fuckin music is.

wow! so young! Love this
Used to listen to this to get myself in the game before my paper round lmao
Crazy to think my child hood is forever cemented in an AlexisonFire music video because I was that age when this song came out 😂
One of the greatest
until this day, I'm still jealous of those kids
Same
Those kids are in their 20s now
I think Canada invented this sound.
2003, SWEATERRR!!
20 years!
2024 here to let you know we need to time travel back to 1999 and alter this present.
Does innocence still exist? Did it ever? Let's go!
Thank god they didn't put the crap remaster over this.
My youth is slipping.. my youth is slipping away
Wholesome.
This music video is so cool. Now I can use this video to prove to my mom that this band isn't a negative "screamo band" (even though screamo isn't a genre)
+Roboc4t. Here is what the lead singer had to say about this music video.
"At the beginning we were getting a little press off of the first records and they were describing us as tortured individuals using our music to express some deep inner pain. we didn't necessarily agree with their interpretation of the music so we responded by making the sissiest video possible." - George Pettit
Screamo is definitely a genre, this isn't screamo though and neither is anything commonly referred to as screamo. Bands like Portraits of Past, Orchid, Saetia, pg. 99, Funeral Diner, Circle Takes the Square, etc etc are screamo.
@@justintaslak530 lol this is definitely screamo bud
Screamo is certainly a genre and Alexisonfire were straddling that line on their first album. They were influenced by screamo bands like Love Lost But Not Forgotten, Pageninetynine, Saetia, Joshua Fit for Battle, and Majority Rule. They also mention Silverstein, Small Brown Bike, Billy Talent, At the Mercy of Inspiration, Hopesfall, Chore, and It Dies Today in the liner notes of their first album.
@@thehurrytheharm holy fuck I was so dumb.. lol reflecting on two years I didn't know anything 😂I apologize for my ignorance
back in 2021

The kids in this video are 30 years old now....
Wait was this filmed in riverdale park?
15 yrs ago holy shit
Still the fucking best
Strange... i remember this video and i am quite sure their shirts were white not purple... haha
CRT tvs were pretty shitty for colours like the light pink. usually registers as white.
+Florian Neumann Their shirts were light pink.
Till this day whenever i hear Jennifer - i say Ja-ni-furrrr
Jennifer ....
The singer is actually the son of Ned Flanders and Andy Samberg
so it seems that when you turned away, you left a scar

2.022 hello
Hello?
it took me 14 years to figure the title out.. "count her parts and number them".
(which happens to be the age i was when i first heard the damn song)
Now the lyrics makes sense.. it's about George killing some bitch while Dallas cries on the side.
Looooove this song

To think all those kids are adults now.
Pink guy
at 0:13 you can hear someone on guitar messing up
Dough Meh what do you mean hahaha I'm tryna figure out the mistake
It's not a mistake. It's a pitch bend, and it adds charachter to the riff
I don't see how anybody could qualify that as a mistake
Milo runs a daycare
I like this video ironically
8 people couldn’t breathe under water
Escuarul xD
jennifer, they lied to you when they said you couldn't breathe underwater
I also lied when I said I was hard. Cause I'm softer than a thrift store sweater
SWEATER
MORE AOF - LESS DALLAS GREEN
I hope you realize that every member of the band made it what it is. Dallas included. You can't say "more AOF" and "less Dallas Green" at the same time because "more AOF" doesn't exist without Dallas Green.
Have a wonderful day though.
***** i think he means less shitty and colour
When the vocalist looks like one of those kids heh
i dont remember the video being so terrible lmoa
Aw come on, this is a fun music video
Apart from not tollerating kids (even from those mate that spawned newcomers) I mist protest..
Man this band would have been the shit without the screamo. The guitar rocks.
its actually huge and great as it is
Da fuck you talking about this is the shit.
this is the shit go listen to Beiber Lol! sounds like your taste
I'd like this band if it weren't for that terrible screaming
