I don’t understand why an SG thin mahogany guitar would be heavy. Mahogany is relatively light, especially compared to maple. Maybe the wood wasn’t dried properly.
One reason why big furniture was often made of mahogany verses maple, besides beauty, was weight.

one pickup is pretty surprising, considering how the early pelican was more dynamic and was done with a Beautiful Silver Burst Gibson Les Paul Custom. The lack of a neck pickup seems too limiting. This guitar will never rival the likes of LPCs or even the new ECG baritones.
