@@nighthawk02 Perhaps but TJ Watt also faces far less double teams than Myles Garrett does or Micah Parsons / Nick Bosa does for that matter. There's a good graph of this on twitter. That's why a more nuanced outlook to statistics is critical, like the comprehensive table shown in the video. There's a reason why the Browns defense is number 1 this year. Not only because of the plays Garrett makes but how many double teams he faces and how much easier that makes it for his D-line
@knightdance8377 TJ faces plenty of double teams himself. Browns defense just got better as a whole. They haven't been the best in recent years and Myles didn't magically get that much better
Yeah.... a little TOO homer. LIke, as a 49er fan, I think Fred Warner should be in the conversation (he's got more INT's than like 90% of DBs, rofl), but even I 100% agree it's Myles Garrett. Dude is on another level this season.
1:35 Here we go with PFF doing their normal Bakeresque cherry picking. If his win rate is so high then how the hell is he like 5th or 6th in sacks. This is ludicrous. That so called win rate should translate into hits and pressures. Tell us about his hits and pressures. Does he lead the league in those? And he better not have fewer than TJ Watt. PFF loves the Browns because the fans are the most gullible and football ignorant fan base in the sport. They will believe anything.
Look it's easy: let's say Myles, TJ, and Micah were all on the same team. Who does the offense focus their attention on? The unanimous answer if you ask literally any player, coach, or unbiased fan is Myles Garrett. There's enough data to make an argument for 3-5 different guys depending on the stats you value. But there's only 1 guy that is clearly head and shoulders above the rest in terms of eyetest and impact on offensive schemes and offensive gameplans.
Tbh I’d focus on Micah most likely… I’ve seen Garret be stop by one on one multiple times by one of the worst tackles in the league … and TJ you probably don’t have to worry bout on a per snap basis
Boy, that pass rush win rate really shined today, eh fellas? Sacks will always be king, period. Sacks lose yards and end plays. Ben Roethlisberger made a hall of fame career out of getting pressured and these guys want to act like they are more valuable than sacks? It's a joke of a stat. Getting pressure is nice, but it's not a guarantee that it results in something good for the defense. A sack is a 100% guaranteed result every time and much more valuable than a hypothetical situation. T.J Watt put up a stat line this year that has only been seen twice before in the NFL. Once by himself when he won DPOY and once by his brother, who also won DPOY the year he did it. And now a bunch of what if stats hold more value than actual results? The man is the only guy in NFL history since they have recorded sacks to lead the league in sacks three times. Three! Cleveland got hyped as such a great defense this year and did very well in yards allowed but fell behind quite a few teams when it comes to points allowed, including Pittsburgh where Watt plays. While pass rush win rate and yards allowed look great on paper, they hold nowhere near as much weight as sacks which end plays and downs and the final score of a game. It's like watching a boxing match and saying the guy who landed a higher percentage of punches is the winner while he's knocked out, on the floor, because the other guy landed the blows that really mattered. You value the wrong stats more than the ones that actually matter.
PFF, when you need a stop on defense would you like your pass rusher to get a sack or have a high pass rush win rate? Nobody cares about pass rush win percentage during a game even if it was 100%. If your pass rusher is not hitting/sacking the QB it is not directly affecting the game. Watt has more hits and sacks than Garrett. Watt is a better pass rusher cause he finishes what he started more than Garrett. Thank you
2nd is pass breakups and forced incompletions; and his job was usually to cover ground; plus if it weren’t for AWJ we would not be in playoffs, he alone saved 16 points
I love that they put TJ in the thumbnail for this just to talk shit about him. Really says the quiet part out loud. But Ill leave the same comment i said on the regular show. PFF: TJ Watt is just good stats. Also PFF: LOOK AT WINFIELD JRs STATS. PFF: We are looking for versatility. Also PFF: Sure TJ brings a wider skill set to the table, but have you SEEN Garrett's Pass Rush Win Rate*. Pass rush win rate is a garbo stat and heres why. It includes "rushes" that are touch the OL pads and drop into coverage. It penalizes edge rushers who drop into coverage like a TJ Watt or they did this same thing to Khalil Mack and Von Miller when under Fangio.
Pass Rush Win Rate is completely subjective. Using actual stats TJ Watt is the winner. PFF loses credibility by putting so much weight into subjective stats.
Outcomes is what matters. What is the outcome and weight them? Tell me who wins then? Win rate is garbage if I dump to the RB for a first down or run for 15 yards.... Outcomes, please!!!
PFF, your methodology makes no sense. Myles Garrett and Tj watt have both recorded more tfls than Nick Bosa. I also don't understand why expected sacks and expected actual sacks seems to be better the less actual sacks you got compared to your projected. Also, kinda hilarious the Tampa Bay guy's argument for Antoine Winfield Jr. being dpoy is based predominantly on him ranking at or near the top of most of the stats that matter to a safety with an aside on him being a good Blitzer for his position. Which is strange, because TJ watt leads in most stats, is a decent pass protection when asked to do it, got an interception, 4 forced fumbles, 8 passes defended, 3 fumble recoveries, and a defensive touchdown that sealed the win they had over the browns earlier this year. So which is it? There's also the whole we shouldn't count real stats too much but we should totally put an outsized emphasis on subjective stats that we made up to say Myles Garrett should be dpoy when Micah parsons seems to be ahead of Myles Garrett in most of these stats at just presented.
So if there were 2 wrs. One had more catches and yards and tds but the other had better, and I mean rediculously better, I mean record breaking seperation and advanced stats said he was by far the most open reciever, he should get the award of best offensive player? Not in my opinion. Maybe most talented, wins the PFF combine. But who made the plays? Duh. the guy who caught the balls. TJ Watt was so much more impactful and its not close. Even in pressures they are equal. Garrett can win the running away from the blocker talent show award.
Its myles garrett. There are about 5-7 players that can win and it works just fine. When that happens you pick the best player on the best defense. And that is Myles Garrett.

Myles almost got a bunch of sacks today in a blowout loss in the first round....so glad he had such a high win rate and that impacted the game exactly zero lol.
Its Myles Garrett, dont forget to that Garrett didn't play the last game so he easily could have had afew more stats and the reason he didn't play twas because they were good enough through the season remember its the defensive mvp so his value was great enough that his team didn't need to play that game

I like Myles Garrett a lot and his pass rush win rate might be the best ever recorded but let's be honest(this is coming from a Giants and football fanatic) Daron bland lead the NFL in INTs, broke the Int TD record(he had more TDs than any giants player had Receiving TDs) and Garrett ranked outside the top 5 in total sacks too. That said he's lacking in versatility, he's 6th in breakups but no Forced Fumbles, Watt has a pick, FFs and lead the league in total sacks. It's Bland or Watt. There are too many good pass rushers to give it to one who has a low amount of tackles and not even top five in sacks. I think the best decision is Bland especially with how he picked up as CB1 when Diggs went out and helped the Cowboys win 12.
It’s Myles Garrett. The Browns defense literally doesn’t function without him. And they’re the best defense in a long time. QBs get completely iced out by this pass rush.
SO BASICALLY this dpoy has turned into a popularity contest 😂. 2+2=5 with you people. TJ is dpoy. If anybody else gets it. This award amongst others wont mean anything after this year.
What does TJ have to do to get the respect he's do, it's not his fault that his offense couldn't score points to help him in the win loss department, Myles didn't produce like TJ and if his pass rate was so good why wasn't his stats better
TJ Watt leads in everything. He rushes better ...plays the rush better ...drops in coverage ...bats down balls ...gets gatorade better...shakes hands better...He is just better!!!
Micah is gonna have to break 10 records in one season just to win anything? Does Dallas have to keep Micah at edge just so "the tape" that is being watched has to matter?
TJ watt has more snaps played against the run, snaps played against the pass. On top of that; he has less double teams by a country mile. Look at all the advanced stats. Not just pass rush win rate. It’s color coded so you clowns can easily tell. Tell me, why are almost all TJ’s advanced stats in the red compared to not just Myles but every other defender on this list?
3:45 sure let's not value the actual stats that effect games and seasons. This makes absolutely no sense. If someone can actually break it down as to why Myles can win without giving a reason as to why Micah should win then please elaborate. It's really no shock as to why PFF is so disregarded in real media.

@knightdance8377 Doesn't make it worth more than sacks, ffs, turnovers, defended passes, and tds
If you said Myles over Watt you are missing some brain cells
Yeah.... a little TOO homer. LIke, as a 49er fan, I think Fred Warner should be in the conversation (he's got more INT's than like 90% of DBs, rofl), but even I 100% agree it's Myles Garrett. Dude is on another level this season.
daron bland deserves this award he done more than he was meant to do in the roll he has played this year
He might have if he didn’t start getting cooked the last quarter of the season
Pass rush win percentage 😂
Hasn't had a game with more than 3 total tackles since Oct 22nd, you guys are crazy😂😂
I'm not a Steelers fan AT ALL, but if Watt leads all categories why is Garrett the favorite to win? 😮
Pigmentation
Theirs no such thing as a impact WR, a WR who gets doubled but gets anointed with less stats over a WR with better stats
PFF the leader in DEI analytics
Very well said brother. I agree 100
100%
Myles Garrett is absolutely unblockable 1v1.
😂😂😂 clueless Watt is arguably one of the best defensive players of all time.
@@Reecesavage-Alwayswinyeah you’re definitely clueless coaches all say the Myles Garret is the one they fear the most
Tbh I’d focus on Micah most likely… I’ve seen Garret be stop by one on one multiple times by one of the worst tackles in the league … and TJ you probably don’t have to worry bout on a per snap basis
It’s Myles Garrett and it’s not even close! The best defense in the leauge on his shoulders
He's not even top three at this point
😂
Bro TJ literally leads in every category and also scored a defensive TD. And the only one to get a int out of the 3
You're pulling the sane bs as the mvp voting. Find the best team and find the best player on that team
Hendrickson had a better season than Garrett
Where was 95 to day 😂
Remember fellas this is PFF. This shit doesn’t matter when the AP Votes come out
Boy, that pass rush win rate really shined today, eh fellas?
Forget sacks, we aren't even talking about pressures.
Thank you
Winfield: 11th in coverage grade and 11th in interceptions among safeties.... Kinda important stats for a Safety...
2nd is pass breakups and forced incompletions; and his job was usually to cover ground; plus if it weren’t for AWJ we would not be in playoffs, he alone saved 16 points
@@Killageable He's undoubtedly very good, I just thought it was silly to gloss over some super important stats while arguing he should be DPOY.
TJ's stats materialized, Myles and Micah's didn't, but lead in could've should've
What has Myles garret done better than tj? Please show me in the stats
Pass rush win rate is something
That said. Watt can win and I'd be just fine with it
Kyle Hamilton is the best player on the best defense. But overall Myles Garrett as an individual defender is the most impactful and should get it.
@@heavylobster4339 well the browns defense sure outplayed the crap out of yours in the head to head. They give up less than 7pts a game when you take away points off turnovers and defensive scores. It's not close even actually. In epa per play (the best metric to grade a defense on. The 32nd ranked defense is closer to the ravens at 2 than the Ravens are to the browns at 1. It's not close.
@@heavylobster4339 I mean hopefully we'll get the ravens next week and you'll see what happens when we have a real QB under center who can actually keep the defense off the field and rested. You got DTR(a fifth round rookie) and Deshaun Watson, a bottom 5 QB in this league. Flacco isn't even that good, he's just average and that should be enough for us to smoke you guys in your own home
@@heavylobster4339 your best edge rusher clowney couldn't even play on our line. He'd be our 5th EDGE. Your defense is great. But they aren't on the same level as the Browns. The browns defense is all time
Myles Garrett deserves to win it of course. 3:15 reason is TJ faces way less double teams than Garrett, Micah and Bosa do, for some odd reason
Bro they dont count RB or TE chips as double teams 🙃🙃
It’s really not he gets doubled mainly by TE and RBS but pff doesn’t count that. If anything its more difficult for what because he has to take each one at a time to get to the qb.
Myles almost got a bunch of sacks today in a blowout loss in the first round....so glad he had such a high win rate and that impacted the game exactly zero lol.
The Steelers are absolutely ass this season and made the playoffs they don't make the playoffs without watt
Its Myles Garrett, dont forget to that Garrett didn't play the last game so he easily could have had afew more stats and the reason he didn't play twas because they were good enough through the season remember its the defensive mvp so his value was great enough that his team didn't need to play that game
On plays when he know he's not gonna get to the QB he's to lazy to jump and bat the ball down, only 3 PDs
He wasn’t leading before he sat out either…
He didn't do anything In his last 3 or 4 games
@@Reecesavage-Alwayswin no he broke his sackless streak on week 17 it was the 3-4 games prior to that that he didn't have any sacks theirs a good chance that he was primed for a monster game
Tj got hurt and didn't play a whole game week 18 either.. TJ is clearly the best player. He does sooooo much more than Myles garrett.
This discussion is easy. Who would you rather have on your team for this year. The answer is clearly Myles Garrett
They’re not even the best defense in the division. That’d be the Ravens
Steelers havent won a game without tj in like 12 games what are you even talking about 😂😂😂
@@danmcgregor7023 haha!
Where’s the missed holding call rate?
Pff will never anoint a RB who gets 1200 with 8 in the box over a RB with 1700 but don't get 8 in the box, so why do they do def. like this
Worst Take of the Year Award once again goes to PFF.
Another reason the stats are overrated is that the Browns defense played significant less plays than every other team. It’s not even close.
they played 2 top 15 qbs that’s it and played a 4th place schedule
Garrett 42 tackles 14 sacks
Crosby 90 Tackles 14 sacks
garrett had 1 sack in the last 6 games.. Pass rush win rate means nothing
3:45 sure let's not value the actual stats that effect games and seasons. This makes absolutely no sense. If someone can actually break it down as to why Myles can win without giving a reason as to why Micah should win then please elaborate. It's really no shock as to why PFF is so disregarded in real media.
Winfield should be in this debate
Lol the fact that like 80% of the comments are calling out this stupidity is funny as hell. Like half the stats micah is above Garret yet hes blindly ignored as well.
Garrett rarely is a game changer, last several weeks he hasn't done much.
You clearly don’t watch the Browns or the film 🤣
@teonsmith1209 dude has 14 sacks and his stats are way under the top three leaders on defense, Watt is way better, stats don't lie.
@@SirFixAlot72 and look up all the other players that eat up sacks because he gets triple teamed and doubled eating those up. You’re a clown. Hes pressuring the QB every play. They QBs get rid of the ball the quickest when facing him and he still gets sacks. He affects the game in so many ways. You’re elite when you make the players around you better and that is exactly what he does
@@SirFixAlot72 stats do lie tho. I can think of many examples where stats can be misleading. The ONLY reason you don't think Myles is doing anything is because you're not watching. Half of their line and no joke sometimes even more, are blocking this man at the same time. More holds on Garrett by far than anyone. I'm talking facemasks and tackles are allowed when you have to block him. It's the only way the game can be fair. If they called flags on him I absolutely promise you opposing teams would not reach 100 yards.
Watch a Browns game and watch how the entire defense is setup to stop him. Go watch the Titans game where Myles was roaming and had 2 players shadowing him. If teams don’t do that against Myles, the Colts game happens where he recks everything and took over a ball game. No other play in the league is doing that
Obviously we’re valuing big plays bigger than non plays 😂😂😂
It’s tj no conversation what are y’all talking about
Well, that aged like milk

PFF edge rushers stats proven wrong by Garrett himself.
Let me get this straight Watt, had more PD, INT's, Tlk, qb hits, TFL and the all important Sacks and the guy who had 1 sack in the last 7 games 0 in his playoff game win DPOY. HMMMMMM
According to that graft its more Miles vs Bosa
Yup, but PFF loves Myles more than Bosa and Browns fans are far more delusional about PFF grades than 49ers fans. 49ers fans know what Bosa can do, and how what he's done this season isn't DPOY worthy like last season. The more complex stats are interesting, sure, but you also have to look at the official stats and in those TJ is the clear choice among edge rushers, just like Bosa was last year. These guys are so obsessed with Myles ability to beat a block that they ignore everything else.
Pass rush win rate, which is totally made up stat. So basically if you run wide and the talckle pushes you past the qb that's a win even if the qb completed a pass. 🤷
You guys are jokes. Tj watt it on top. You make up these bullshit stats that have nothing to do with the nfl
I understand myles and tj are top mfs but the fact that nobody even mentions Khalil mack is kinda baffling
same goes for Trey Hendrickson who finished a close second in sacks.
Glad they got it right. Garrett>TJ and its not close.
Yo these new stats are weird lol
Y’all hate Myles Garrett 😂😂
Did you see that game he got dog walked by one person
Myles Garrett > TJ What?
TJ watt is a clean up artist. Garretts win rate is 27% Watts win rate is 16%
Garretts triple team rate: 29%
Watt triple team rate: 14%
Watt a systeme linebacker. he isnt elite

Micah>Garrett … other than PFF PRWR what does Garrett beat Micah in? Maybe Double team rate?
ALMOST DOESN'T COUNT!!! TJ Watt is DPOY!!!
Pff has no credibility if stats don't matter
Myles Garrett was directly responsible for 17 points in 1 game, not 16 points all season. I'll take Myles, thank you.
Pff is the death of sports analytics
Steelers are 1-10 without watt. Te means moreto his team then garret
PFF has lost all credibility if they dont choose Watt.
The man has 19 sacks so how is TJ not the front runner that PRWR is stupid af TJ got the numbers 19 vs 14 game over
Myles garret league double team rate TJ watt is at 14% which is not even top 15 for edge rushers. Tell me, if TJ was truly the best defensive player in football, then why do defensive coordinators, who get paid millions of dollars to game plan for opponents, not double team him more? Why do they not prioritize that? Why is it that teams don’t respect TJ as much as they respect Myles? You bozos really want to sit here and tell me that you know more than the defensive coordinators in today’s game?
Pass rush win rate is a joke if you don’t get pressure or sacks
So only subjective 😂
its gotta be myles
These 2 goons were handed to script to say miles Garrett won because it's obvious to everyone that they are cherry picking their argument.
Maxx crosby is better than all them and he stays on the field no breaks

I get your point but like you said... if it was stats, and you look at stats, wouldn't Bland Technically win DPOY?
