Exactly. That is the sort of "seeing the real question through the distraction" thing that he prides himself on. But Ally got it and he didn't. Sure, that turned out to not be the answer Sam wanted, but it was the right answer given the info they had, and in Brennan-land, that's what matters.
Beardsley spends a lot of time clowning, which can make it easy to miss how smart they are.
Brennan doesn't want to give up the point, but he absolutely agrees Ally deserves the point. He'd be less broken if he didn't horde points like a dragon hordes gold.

@@danthelambboyIn general English we have underlying assumptions to the things we say, in this case the previous plays have down how hard they can hit it; in the same sense, if we open the blinds and see it is raining, we can say it is raining. Now we could argue it's a screen or it's localized and not really raining but given the direct piece of evidence that it is raining we can and should still confidently say it is raining based on experience, and as much Brennan can ring the gong loudest

The question already implies that they have to all participate in hitting it before they can decide who is the loudest, so it does have logic.

I love how brennan is always the most talented and creative one of the bunch, always one-uped by the others changing the context or using him as context.
That's not always fair. He's definitely been on episodes where other people have just done a bit better that day. Dropout brings in really talented people and while perhaps flattering I don't think even Brennan would want it said that he "always" is just flatly the moat talented and creative.

these shows are partially meant for brennan when he appears. like gamechangers a semi trivia semi nerd activity game show is perfect for brennan the smart guy who does these things. however, the thing brennan is there for is to be the paragon to everybody else.
Perfectly shows this one, look at Ally and Brennan in this situation. Ally is a zinger, they can pop something out quickly. this is what she's known for, somewhat mean spirited but zany interpretations of things that can add humor.
Note as much as it became dropout, the origins of these people are College Humor. Game Changers is more of a Comedy Improv than a 'game show'. Brennan's just doing what his role is in most comedy scenes, the smart guy who plays off the other personalities on show

@@kyle1751by just slamming a gong without warming it up you get a sound very similar to just slamming a crash cymbal. That more warm tone of a gong comes from first “warming it up” which you do by lightly tapping it with the mallet to get it vibrating and THEN hitting it for the tone.

if you don't prep a gong by tapping the edges with the mallet then it could damage the gong. hope that explains it for you
@@GreebleClown gongs are just a big thick hunk of metal, so in a way similar to glass, they don't like changes in their state of energy. They can develop hairline cracks, which cause unwanted frequencies in the gong. By tapping the gong and getting it vibrating before you hit it with the mallet, it makes the transition much smoother, like how you wouldn't put a cold glass pan directly in a hot oven
