  • Kimi Raikkonen is one of the most unique and funny F1 drivers ever to race in the sport. Kimi was also wickedly fast and left his mark in Formula 1 and ever since his retirement, fans can't help but miss him. Kimi was known in his prime as being one of the fastest drivers ever, and somebody who never feared a risky overtake. His ability to make people laugh without even trying to, gave us iconic moments to remember for the ages. There will never be another Formula 1 driver like Kimi Raikkonen. Enjoy!

    Love the clip of the grid all weaving to warm up their tires, and Kimi is just driving straight on

    • @akafxde7245
      @akafxde7245 Месяц назад +7

      There’s actually a reason he was doing that other than not wanting to weave to warm the tires. He was repeatedly going on and off the brakes to warm the tires that way instead. There’s videos of Lewis doing it as well; I just can’t remember where.

    • @deesh1124

      @@akafxde7245 Most likely Yelistener's channel, he did one on Lewis' different tyre-warming strategies in different situations in Baku, I believe.
      And you're right, not exactly a "Kimi moment" per se, but seeing that clip when he's the *only* one doing it, as well as it specifically looking like he's not moving when others are just gave such a classic Kimi vibe XD

    Kimi was a mixed bag. A ball of fire early in his career. And then he seemed to realize that he was paid to do a job and accepted that mentality. I had no hate for him doing that. It was a smart move. But the early Kimi kind of disappeared into the corporate F1 structure. Then he really hurt himself badly, during a rally event, while driving in rally off season. I mean Kimi really messed up his lower back. In ways he's never told anyone. I saw it in his lap times the season after he came back from that injury. It definitely impacted his performances ever since. But the sum total of Kimi, to me, is a guy who came in like a comet and flamed across the Formula One sky and did the best he could, as he saw fit. And that is why I will always respect Kimi Raikonnen. He did not give a damn what I thought, or what anyone else thought. Like the Frank Sinatra song, Kimi did it his way,. And it was entertaining as hell to watch happen . Thank you Kimi, for bringing the heat, every race, no matter what. You were awesome.

    Kimi could have been multiple champion if he really put his mind into it. Unlike Senna, Prost, Schumacher Kimi always wanted to have a life outside of F1. He wasn't dedicated enough. But Ron Dennis said that Kimi was naturally the fastest guy he has ever seen. And this from a guy who had Senna, Prost, Hakkinen and Lauda in his team.

    Love Kimi, he just was there to race, and that was it. Kept the sport honest, in a way. Max is similar in a way but -and this might sound dumb- Max is Dutch, Kimi a Fin and you can tell this by Max knowing more languages than Kimi facial expressions and probably words.
    But I'd say I miss a guy like Mika Häkkinen even more. On the track it's hard to tell who was better in their prime but both were good to a point, where that doesn't really matter anymore, they both could beat anyone on their day. But of track Mika could be just like Kimi but he also had this childish side, where he after not having muscles in his face for an hour, he'd suddenly pulls of a really silly joke that no one but him gets.
    And there is this interview where Mika talks about Kimi being his friend in this threatening way, which just has to be my all time favorite F1 interview.

    also, I believe if you put an "pld school" driver in a modern car, it'd be the same as now. Imagine Clark or Senna, JTNAF.. racing till retirement. I think there is a lot to appreciate now. You just can't compare then and now, but in many ways you can in the drivers if you can just see it. You got to take the old glasses off. I find it opens ny eyes.

Then suddenly he said "I hate F1" and went to the bar to get another drink. 😅
