Donner Power Supply | Cheap and Great

  • I really like this Donner Power Supply. Costing around $35 buck, it is a no brainer. It comes with everything you need to hoop up just about any guitar pedal to it, including a rare 3.5mm adapter and a polarity reversal adaptor. It will power eight 9v pedals, including one 500ma pedal, one 12v pedal, and one 18 volt pedal. This power supply will suit the needs of 95% of guitar players. Are there "better" power supplies out there? Yes. Do they cost 5x as much? Yes.
I have a ton of pedals and for various reasons end up putting a couple pedalboards together each year. Whether it be me redoing a pedalboard or building one for a friend, this style of pedal power supply has been great to work with. I really like the option to have the led lights on or off too.
This is actually the second Donner Power Supply I have owned. The first one I used for a bit and then ended up giving it away to a guitar player who did not have a power supply. I am really glad I have a second one! I highly recommend this to anyone that does not have a power supply or needs a second.

Thank you for the great video. I’m in the middle of trying to build my pedalboard and for a board itself my dad sent me a link from Amazon for the boards they make. I already have a power brick but need another (too many pedals) and noticed that Donner make a few different power supplies for great prices. Thanks again for a great video, and your video on how to spot a fake Fender was really informative as well. Thank you again.

Just bought the DP-1. I understand it's not truly "isolated" but I couldn't resist $35 and mostly good reviews on Amazon. Got 2 gigs coming up. I may return here and give my 2 cents to help out the conversation. High end power supplies are very expensive as are high end pedals. You could be in for $1000 pedal board if you go all high end. I can't afford it. Anyway, thanks for the review. UPDATE: I have two of these underneath my pedal board now powering 9 pedals. I have used it on two live 4 hour gigs. The power supplies are totally quiet and work great. Best deal out there, even if not isolated which hasn't been a problem for me.

It's not a true isolated power supply as advertised. Has a shared ground. May work great on analog pedals within it's 9v 100 ma current limit. But it's a definite no go if you plan on running analog with some digital pedals. There are some cheaper power supplies on Amazon that do have a true isolated circuit with higher 9v ma values too. For around 50-60 bucks. You're always better off running a real Isolated power supply with at least twice the ma current as needed for all pedals.

Don't buy this for digital pedals..noise. But, if you have analog pedals, this will do the job just fine.

ONLY buy this if you have pedals that do NOT exceed 100mA consumption. I have a bunch and I this product really disappointed me. Noisy and lacking in power, my advice is to spend a bit more and get something more trustworthy.

What is the purpose f this video? There's no real information in it. OK the device powers the pedals, but so does a daisy chain. The idea of buying a power supply with 'ISOLATED power to each pedal is to do so without introducing unwanted noise and hum. At no point in this video is the performance of this power supply to do that. Even at £35 it's three times the price of a Tourtech 1 amp plug style PSU which is only £9.99 o Amazon. So the reason someone might pay three times more for a PSU (and PSU's can cost £100s) is for the ISOLATION and flexibility IE, the ability to power multiple effects with varying voltage requirements. You address NONE of this. Waste of time. Your review was essential, hey look everyone it switches on and has pretty blue lights and look the light comes on, on the pedal.
