I believe he was referring to the program cost, which is the _total_ amount spent on the entire Reaper program - they've built around 200 of them thus far so it would be $18 billion divided by 200. The actual flyaway cost which is like the assembly line price tag is around $15 or $16 million per aircraft. That doesn't include R&D or anything else.
The information presented is all jumbled up. Unit, program cost and U.S. $ to ROK ₩ . Recalculate using .000905 ₩ to the $ then come back and say how much something is using oranges to oranges.

@@whitehawk8682 as others have mentioned, the $18 billion is the program cost - that means the cost of the _entire_ Reaper program since its inception up to the present, including the assembly line price tag for >195 aircraft, research and development, operational costs and etc.
The price tags are insane to a lot of us too. Our military budget is bloated with a lot of people making gobs of cash through very overpriced defense contracts. The resultant tech is pretty amazing though.
These guys are truly honourable, I just love to hear their stories, and also watch their reaction videos, they should watch M1 Abrams and K2 Black Panther. Or maybe even perhaps the new USS Zumwalt stealth destroyer.
Well, everything that is shown is openly available on RUclips and almost every other platform. So it's not like they are giving out anything classified. He could easily google this and find the same info.
The more they are exposed to the might of the US military, the less likely they are to be belligerent. When the Soviets realized the Americans were pursuing Star Wars tech, they basically imploded. Any information on RUclips they glean won't help them, they don't have the metallurgy or production capabilities to duplicate any of it.
Somebody should take those lads to an airshow! (Preferably in the States.) The 800 billion number can't be a US $ price/unit. Maybe in won, or the cumulative cost of UAV development programs?
These flew everyday in Afghanistan . The thing is they DO HAVE A PILOT they ARE NOT automatic. BUT the pilots that flew these in Afghanistan were piloting them from the USA by camera so it was REMOTE CONTROLLED
These DRONES ARE NOT $800B, the B2 alone is 2.1B so it makes no sense that an unmanned drone costs 400 times that. A predator drone costs 64m, Global Hawk costs a little more.
I know this comment is SOOOO random, but his skin is perfect. It's beautiful. I know there is probably flattering lighting involved, but no matter the lighting I would NEVER look like I have skin like his.
I was in Airforce JROTC in Highschool and we had some Air Force buddies of our teacher come in and show us some footage of Drones in action. there was one where there was a guy with an RPG (RPG-7 if I remember correctly) standing in the middle of the street waiting for an American convoy to pass the intersection in front of him. From 10,000ft (3048m) up and 3mi (4.8Km) away, you could clearly identify the guy in the video. Then they put a missile between his feet at that range; ever since I have wanted to Join the Air Force as a Drone Pilot. Buuuut~ they wouldn't take me because of my medical issues, so that's a no-go 😂😂
A quick Google search says 123 million for the global hawk drone. Could you guys fact check even a little bit. 800 billion is more like a fully equipped aircraft carrier.
Every Year in DAYTON, OHIO USA they have a AIR SHOW and these crafts and the stealth bombers and others are on display to the public and they also fly them over head so the public can see them. It is called THE DAYTON AIR SHOW google search it
Not sure if anyone caught on, but the way the other person is explaining numbers, I think got lost on translation. You had this impressionable soldier, quite new to the modern world, and you have him believing that an MQ-9 Reaper drone has the cost of 20 F-22's, really? The cost of an F-22 is 143 million and the MQ-9 is about 32 million. Please do your research before misinforming people with outlandish fabrications and making them believe it.
It should be noted the price tags are for the entire fleet of that type of drone. For example a single reaper cost about 15 million, a single global hawk costs 220 million both cost less than manned aircraft both in purchase price and maintenance. Which shows how many they're buying since they're cheaper but they spend hundreds of times more.
Like you, I also am in absolute LOVE with the F-22, but i also really love the new F-35 as well. one of the fringe benefits of my current job (i go all over the US and supervise teams of technicians who are swapping out computer equipment for US Navy and Marine installations) is I occasionally get to go to highly private areas on the bases that i service and am able to see some of these great machines in person. Just this past year, I was down in Florida at a base that had quite a few of the F-35s flying maneuvers with F-18s. When they had one being worked on in a hangar I was working out of, i was able to actually put my hand on it. yes, i know im probably being mocked right now for it, but ive been fascinated with fighter aircraft from birth. grew up in the Top Gun phase and i never outgrew the obsession. so to a nerd like me, being able to touch an F-35 in person was as exciting as someone meeting their favorite actor/actress. Touched an F-14, F-15, F-16, F-18, A-10, F-35, AH-64 Apache, and an AH-1 Cobra ... but i havent been able to touch an F22 yet :(
You must be able to get these guys in a jet for a video that would be amazing. I doubt they would get cleared to get in a stealth but civilians go up in fighter jets all the time so I don't see why it couldn't happen for them. Get him in the F-22 lol
@Jungkook Steiner well it’s easy for me to spend other people’s money 😂😂 still would be awesome to see but that does make sense jet fuel and the pilots time isn’t cheap.
@Jungkook Steiner well yaeger was given a ride (and deservedly so) but I know you can “rent” airtime maybe not in something currently still in service like the F-22 and I know the cost makes it unlikely for the channel but i don’t think being defectors would be the interfering factor. There’s nothing you would learn going up in a jet that you couldn’t on RUclips or the internet. I just know this guy loves all the jet videos so I think it would blow his mind .

4:08 The Global Hawk drone, made by Northrop Grumman Corp, is used for intelligence-gathering over water and coastal areas, and costs around $130 million, according to industry experts. that's not even close to $800 Billion. It's more like 145 Billion KRW.

I enjoy watching these guys learn the truth of the "outside" world. Hopefully some day North Korea will become a Free and Democratic Country, and their people can experience what Freedom is!
In the movie The Giver, they fly drones especially towards the end of the movie. It's really cool, and shows possible uses of them for more widespread use.
These guys need to visit an Air Show at a US Air Base, like NAS Oceana or something similar. Their live reactions to pilot demonstrations including the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds would be great content. Also, the chance to see some of these planes up close and even hands-on would be priceless.
Sir, just so you know. These UAV's are so expensive because they are remotely piloted using encrypted high speed satellite data connections. The vehicle is not the only expense. There is a large remote control center located at Nellis Air Force Base (near Las Vegas, Nevada). Each drone has a remote pilot & flight engineer, sometimes mission specialists, each with their own console that communicates with different parts of the drone. Also, the cost numbers you are seeing for these systems is for the control center, the communications systems, multiple vehicles and everything needed to support them. So USD $18 Billion for 195 MQ-9 drones @ USD $92 Million per vehicle.
Funny story; if what he’s talking about at 1:44 is what I believe; I know exactly what he’s talking about. Back around 2003 an RQ-7A shadow 200 UAV from Camp Hovey South Korea lost link with the TDC and the operator set the wrong return home coordinates during pre-flight and never caught their mistake and the aircraft flew around 7km into North Korea. We were able to regain link with the aircraft and fly it back over the DMZ and landed without further incident.

That would honestly be nice and possible if only the north and south came to terms with each other and end this “war”
Yeah, just like the soviet union right?
@@McMazaRopi Peace in our time may not happen, but wishing for it is never wrong. All the best.
there is a reason the north doesnt want that. Most the population would flee
I'm sure that the wouth would be happy to recieve tens of millions of immigrants
These guys would love the USAF Museum in Dayton Ohio.
Or the Air Force Armament Museum outside Fort Walton Beach, Florida. There's a MOAB on display outside the building, along with a collection of aircraft that would make a NK soldier's head explode.
The Wright Patterson Air Force Military Museum is massive
I think they would enjoy seeing the evolution of the airplane in the birthplace of aviation!
I've been there MANY times, as I live about an hour and 45 minutes away from Wright Pat.
@@mikewrasman5103 yeah it is great living like 30 minutes away from the museum.
It would be fantastic if these programs could be broadcast through every radio, military and civilian and TV station in North Korea. Kudos to these courageous men and women willing to speak out. I'm sure they have North Korean death warrants out for them.
Aye it would be nice if all normal North Koreans knew this. Just how far behind the US and the West has left them.
As a shut-in, disabled vet I want to say how much
I appreciate your superb channel.
Thank you for producing these thought-provoking programs!
With my fondest regards...keep up the great work!
"Shame on my life in North Korea."......that hit me.
“he is big in size” lmao
Another request for Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
Yes!!!
Absolutely.
Guys the global hawk has a flyaway cost of 131 MILLION usd. The whole F-22 program was about 70 BILLION usd. 800 billion is about 200 billion more than our yearly defense budget. Keep up the great videos!
I really love listening to this young man, he is so sweet, such a tender personality xx
He can't believe the $800 billion cost because that figure is for the total project. Each Global hawk is about $130 Million.
It would be interesting to see him react to technology available to civilians, like Tracking Point targeting system for rifles, thermal scopes, and night vision. Always enjoy these.
Mq-9 reapers don't cost 18.7 billion per plane, they cost 32 million per plane.
I would to see his first time to an airshow.
But remember.....if you are seeing it in videos, you are seeing our older technology. MUwahahahahahaha
Yeah, anything mil-tech that you see publicly is likely at least 20 years old. And just as outdated. "Cutting edge" mil tech gets deployed and used, not filmed and posted on YT.
Not sure where they got the costs numbers from, the drones are roughly similar in cost to the F22
@@bruceleealmighty I understand that but if that’s the case why are they saying it is 800billion compared to an F-22 at 3.2billion. The F-22 would have a more comparative price
@@whitehawk8682 Already replied to this: Unit cost compared to the cost of the entire programs research and development is entirely disingenuous. Not to mention using ₩ and not $. . .Would have been better to compare the stealth drones to the F22. Particularly the Valkyrie, although I think of it as a demonstration platform. Pretty sure the newer stealth drones will take that position.
@@whitehawk8682 as others have mentioned, the $18 billion is the program cost - that means the cost of the _entire_ Reaper program since its inception up to the present, including the assembly line price tag for >195 aircraft, research and development, operational costs and etc.
3:12 I love how they play happy music over a bombing raid. He's sitting there like 👁👄👁
They must react to more combat videos
The price tags are insane to a lot of us too. Our military budget is bloated with a lot of people making gobs of cash through very overpriced defense contracts. The resultant tech is pretty amazing though.
Love to see a reaction to more science based stuff like the International Space Station or the new planned moon landings for 2024
The money it costs for a drone can feed his whole country.... I would be shocked too
I would recommend you guys to watch and review space X's rockets and autonomous landing systems
These guys are truly honourable, I just love to hear their stories, and also watch their reaction videos, they should watch M1 Abrams and K2 Black Panther. Or maybe even perhaps the new USS Zumwalt stealth destroyer.
Honestly its interesting to see the reactions of these guys - BUT there has to be a point where we can only show them so much.
(Preferably in the States.)
The 800 billion number can't be a US $ price/unit.
I wonder if they understand the difference between unmanned and autonomous?
They don't need to be told everything let them think it out for themselves. It will do them good.
These DRONES ARE NOT $800B, the B2 alone is 2.1B so it makes no sense that an unmanned drone costs 400 times that. A predator drone costs 64m, Global Hawk costs a little more.
Its in korea currency.
@@mentos93 but they are clearly letting him think these cost more than an F22 which is in no way correct.
They are talking about Won not USD.
Check out the NAVY's new rail gun
Kinda weird how there's a happy music playing in bg and then there's clips like at 3:12
Now show them "The Terminator" movies.
Love this man with his genuine reaction. I love this man so much
Don't forget to react to The Ohio State Marching Band. If you like marching and crisp formations you'll love them.
USMC Silent Drill Platoon tho
So cute! I think you would really enjoy the Air Force Museum. I love planes. When I went to the museum I was like you, a constant WOW!
I know this comment is SOOOO random, but his skin is perfect. It's beautiful. I know there is probably flattering lighting involved, but no matter the lighting I would NEVER look like I have skin like his.
I agree, he’s a beautiful man, so is Hanuel
my favorite plane is a little outdated, but it's the SR71
Someone take him to an air show.
He’s so cute 🥰
Bring him back for more videos! 😍
It is called THE DAYTON AIR SHOW google search it
this video is riddled with inaccuracies in regards to costs
the Great Sky Whale Should be the official Name LoL
Not sure if anyone caught on, but the way the other person is explaining numbers, I think got lost on translation. You had this impressionable soldier, quite new to the modern world, and you have him believing that an MQ-9 Reaper drone has the cost of 20 F-22's, really? The cost of an F-22 is 143 million and the MQ-9 is about 32 million. Please do your research before misinforming people with outlandish fabrications and making them believe it.
I believe he try to explain the cost of F-22 and drone price.., but got mixed up in the process...lool
Touched an F-14, F-15, F-16, F-18, A-10, F-35, AH-64 Apache, and an AH-1 Cobra ... but i havent been able to touch an F22 yet :(
We have an Air Force Museum near Eglin AFB, Florida. He could see a lot of planes and weapons (older) there.
These lads are gems, I'd love to see them have a chat with their American or ROK (or both) counterparts.
Just found. Love his reaction to different things. How excited his voice sounds. Got a new friend out here. Would love to go to lunch with you. Keep the videos coming. Dont worry, I worked on helicopters. I get excited seeing new ones..
unmanned..it never gets tired because it flew for 8 hours...and its never afraid.....hard to beat.
The RQ-4 does not cost 800 Billion.
I don’t know what that jet with the adjustable wings are but it’s my favorite. I always thought it was so cool that they could streamline the jet mid air so they could run supersonic
The F-14 Tomcat, F-111 Aardvark and the British Tornado all have variable sweep wings.
@@ChrisSmith-tj2sf yeahh the tomcat! That jet will always be the best looking imo.
Global Hawk QR4 can be found in Northern California. It's home is Beal AFB. And 9th Recon Wing.
Its so interesting to watch people realize just how advanced the US armed forces are...
"Self-Destructing Hero..." lol
I enjoy watching these. Watching them react is super cute. It helps pass the time when we are stuck inside. My son likes to watch and ask questions. The questions I answer. He wants everyone to be safe and stay healthy. Anyway thanks for the videos!
4:08 The Global Hawk drone, made by Northrop Grumman Corp, is used for intelligence-gathering over water and coastal areas, and costs around $130 million, according to industry experts. that's not even close to $800 Billion. It's more like 145 Billion KRW.
My brother operated the lastest Reaper drones. Its amazing at what they can do.
You should check out small unit drones, too. They are the size of model airplanes or large birds, and can give battlefield reconnaissance.
Interesting, in the unmanned fighter segment there were a couple clips of the RAAF-Boeing Loyal Wingman program, rather than a USAF program.
I served in the U S Air Force for over 20 years. I was stationed in a Test Squadron for 9 years, I was also assigned to a F 117 Stealth Fighter sq.
6:28 alright the top left picture is definitely what Menendez took control of, everybody start to panic lol
These guys need to visit an Air Show at a US Air Base, like NAS Oceana or something similar. Their live reactions to pilot demonstrations including the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds would be great content. Also, the chance to see some of these planes up close and even hands-on would be priceless.
He really made me laugh when he said for 800 billion, it should know what the enemies had for lunch! 🤣🤣🤣
I love this guys reaction like a kid at a airshow
Show him the international space station, spacex or nasa rocket launch or austrounants on the moon
Rlthis right here
I'm am almost positive the are saying the prices in won and not dollars for all the people saying it doesn't cost this and that.
I love the light elevator music in the background as the bombs of mass destruction rain fire.
should had shown them the drone swarm testing video too. the sound they make when they circle around.......
I wish they would specify that these are the costs for the whole programs, not for one plane
