Most dads would beat up someone who ruins his daughter's life.
The father must be mental sick father that needs help
Typical, because Southeast Asian families have great plans for their daughters and if they get accidentally pregnant or spread their sex video online, its a normal reaction for them to be highly devastated and grieve, but if the discover the guy who impregnated their daughter idiotic and scummy, its not surprising their initial reflex is to wanting to wring the neck of the guy
This convo should be held with mothers and fathers.
And no they were not Muslim. They were Chinese. Also 16 is old enough and 18 is almost the same age. The age is not the problem here. Its the actions he did to that girl no matter the age.
if you guys got any lawyer or law student friends, probably should get their input. this is covered in first year of law school. s300 of the penal code. s300(c) involves intending to cause an injury that causes death (not necessarily to cause death itself, e.g. you intend to stab the thigh, but if it hits the femoral artery and the person dies, it's irrelevant), as well as 'grave and sudden provocation' (long story short it brings it down from 'murder' to 'culpable homicide not amounting to murder, i.e. manslaughter). 'grave and sudden provocation' exists because we recognise that the killing is wrong, but that we can all kind of sympathise/empathise with it, so society agrees that the full charge isn't warranted.
also, the four principles of punishment includes retribution (the others are rehabilitation, incapacitation, deterrence). relates closest to 'revenge' on the basis that we need to assuage that sense of indignation, otherwise society (especially the victim's family) will be dissatisfied and will eventually crumble.
@@alui5362 English please? 🤣
That father is a hero, he reminded all of the dumb boys out there don’t fark around.
Wish i have a dad who's got my back.
I think the main issues is that it's leaked it's without their consents , not only that your photos is been leak and it's from someone you trusted and probably love so much, that time of betrayal hurts even more.
I’m the 46% that just subscribed!! 😆 Love the conversations you guys have in this podcast!
The level of depth and awareness in this conversation really gives me goosebumps… acknowledging that yes, no one perspective is truly ever complete 🙏🏼
The boy had a bleeding disorder. The girl was 16 if I'm not wrong. And the father sent him to the police station himself. I think the case can be made that he didn't expect the boy to die and he in fact wanted the boy to pay his dues.
hope you guys consider bringing in lawyers and parents to debate on this topic too because i think it'd be soooo informative. good job nonetheless!
12:16 Jon’s blinking a bit too much in trying to cover his murderous tendencies
Looks like cause the boy was weak:
'Phang had a condition called hemophilia, a bleeding disorder where a patient's blood does not clot properly.'
Imho, tt 18yo guy deserved hvg e life snuffed out of him bcos he had absolutely no regard for e life he snuffed out of tt 16yo girl. What an ungentlemanly, irresponsible, wicked & cruel thing to do to his gf. He already had mercy shown on him by not surviving the attack & living on to hv his own daughters reap what he sowed. Evil begets evil.
what do you think he did that warranted his death exactly?
@@samuelCWM he died due to complication because of his condition . The father probably left him in a ‘surviving ‘ state not intending to kill him but obviously not knowing of the boy’s condition
I need John back!!!!! He offers mature and seasoned opinions.
Denise describing the video of the guy getting sliced in the neck out of NOWHERE, really makes me paranoid of what kind of psychos are out there. Can you imagine sitting in the bus, not knowing that the person behind you is crazy, you wouldn't even have time to react if he/she were to stab a screwdriver into your skull. It's soooo.. AHHH!
This is what happens when people want to be "gracious", "synpathetic", "kind", "understanding" towards people with mental problems.
If a retarded person commits murder, hang him. 1 less retarded murderer out there. Simple.
But no...society thinks...he has to be given a chance for his condition. Let him live...and oh... not even a day in prison.
That is why I no longer feel sorry for people who suffer "accidents".
There are no accidents.
This is a really insightful podcast!
Is it possible to touch on perhaps the idea of going Child Free / or having children (like the traditional way of life) in a future episode of podcast please?
this convo should come with more info about the law, like the difference between murder and manslaughter etc
Ok I’m just going to ask it. Anyone got the Link or title for the slashing video/article they talked about in the Beginning?
justice in Asia takes a very very long time - running in circles. A possible average case takes a minimum 1-2 years before a judgment is delivered
It takes longer in the west especially if you are a person of color. Yt men literally rp abse kll hurt our Africans and people of color, women and children etc all day everyday and can get away with it cause hes yte
It takes longer in the west especially as a person of color
Instead of letting the dads do the dirty job of killing sexual assault perpetrators, why not just implement death penalty so that justice is served.
Again, the current sentences for sexual assault are too disproportionate to the possible impact sexual assault could have on the victims. If death penalty is in the consideration, then perhaps the dads can wait for the death penalty than to carry out the revenge. Let the state do the killing rather than dirtying their own hands.
Just to add on, why isn't there already a sexual offenders registry for the public? Look at the news in the recent few years! The sexual offenders will come out of their punishment after years and live a life of freedom whereas the victims carried the burden forever. It stays with them. Easier to say start a new life.
he did not commit sexual assault as it was consensual, his crime was the circulation of the video.
Huh? sexual assault? what are you on about? you gotta watch the video again.... :D boy released sex tape... dad accidentally killed the boy after beating him up... what sexual assault?
To add on to Dan's point about how people aiming for the head may not be aiming to kill, people are often overly optimistic / choose to ignore things that would make their decisions tougher to make. I wouldn't be surprised if that guy had aimed that way, deep down knowing that the probability of him causing major harm is decently high, while conveniently choosing to ignore said probability. Essentially - people are often stupid.
W.r.t ages - the guy was 18, was he? Or was he 16? I think it wouldn't be uncommon for 18 year-old males to be on physically on par with full-fledged adults actually, or perhaps even have certain advantages such as agility, reaction time, etc.
As for the notion of an eye for an eye...I think the law is here to stay. I can also understand people seeking revenge; pretty sure I'd do the same. Essentially, the justice system is about ideas, consequence, etc. There's nothing physically stopping people from committing crimes. That is to say, someone who is prepared to accept the consequences in return for their revenge would have no contradictions in their lives.
If you don't want to suffer the consequences but still want revenge, then I'd suggest calming down and playing the long game. There are many ways to terrorise people, and you can turn it into a long-term thing rather than a one-off beating, murder and what not. If it were me, the main thing I would be worried about would be perpetuating the cycle of revenge, meaning me seeking revenge may place my loved ones in harm's way.
But yeah. As long as the justice system remains this way (consequences above prevention), it's still possible to do anything. Things would be different though, in a dystopian (to me) system where you can be persecuted based on intent (prevention above consequences). It's something that is commonly explored in all types of literature and media.
what
The law doesn't allow people to take justice into their own hands because there has to be a trial. If you're blinded by rage for vengeance mistakes can easily be made, like the father did by going overboard and killing the boy. In another example, the daughter could be lying.
Law does not equate to Justice.
Agree with sometimes justice in law don't feel like justice. In the case of cheating for example, is like any other crime, there's perpetrators, intention and victim but law doesn't cover it or doesn't have compensation set in stone, victim might even lose.
where can i find the news about the guy's neck being slashed
Just wondering if the website for casting is down or like it got taken down? haha
Now that's, an honor killing right there.
He killed for his daughter's honor.
Intimacy is supposed to b private. Why do you film it?
Recording is not the problem if with consent (tho can still be charged under 292).
The problem the act of sharing it without consent. Then, additional charge under 211(1) will follow the previously stated section.
If a threat involved, then hello 509 and 383... If all applied and sentenced accordingly, might as well 20++ years lhor... Die la in prison...
what's the incident at 4:52? can someone link?
John need to teach how he get a Patek Philippe.
vengeance would not be needed if punishments are harsh enough. Eg people who drink and drive or race (drive recklessly) and kills someone should be punished more harshly.
It is always easier to talk abt someone else’s
@12:41, did you do a Batman quote?
at the end of the day we are not in the father shoes....wait something happen will you all call the police first or wack the teen
i think in simple terms, we all agree no one should take anyone's life... but we understand why he did what he did.
why is violence the solution? violence couldn't solve the fact that the video is already on the internet.
How come Denise has a little ducky/chicky in front of her on the table?
omg u guys need to get the gangster lawyer on this podcast!!! the law he does is related to what this episode is about
U lucky, i subscribed becus i saw Alison
Y’all should watch Law Abiding Citizen
where is the video where the guy's neck got slashed?
social media n internet kind og have negative impacts(as well as positive) on our life.
Imagine if the girl was lying. That’s why people shouldn’t take the law into their own hands.
In this situation the punishment does not fit the crime, we have to consider that both the boy and girl were of legal age and that the act of sexual intercourse was consensual. You may argue that the filming and distribution may cause distress to the girl but are we not able to consider that the boy was 18 and probably did not know the full repercussions of his actions (this does not excuse him and obviously he would have deserved some form of punishment), but to say he deserved death and in such a barbaric manner, (stripped of his clothes and beaten to death) in my opinion is a drastic overreaction. As JP mentioned, it would have been different if it was a full fledge adult (say above the age of 25) taking advantage of an underaged girl by sexually assaulting or raping her.
Unless to defend or remove oneself, others or properties from imminent harm, extrajudicial violence should not be condoned. What the dad did is reprehensible and rightly illegal. It's seriously alarming how some poeple here think the dad's actions were justified, virtuous even.
Well, there is judicial justice and there is social "justice" and the 2 might sometimes not intersect. For example, if someone came up behind a girl and suddenly grabbed her butt, her suddenly turning around and slapping him would be "illegal" but as an instinctive reaction and as a social reaction, I doubt many people are going to charge her with assault. This case is an example of something like that, where a social wrong and a criminal wrong end up together and not meshing too well as a consequence. Real life is a kind of balancing act between the two unfortunately so no easy answers.
@@danielc2701 In your hypothetical scenario, the reaction of the girl would most probably not be deemed illegal as her reaction falls within the purview of s101 of the Penal Code. This is in stark contrast with the actions of the father in the story who deliberately and maliciously inflicted grievous hurt on the boy when there is no danger to his or his daughter's body.
I am interested in the Hangman apprentice. I can pull
Until you have a Daughter, you will not understand.
well of cos he died on the spot if the jugular was hit.
I too can't find the right sort of words for Denise.
Its a conform of social norm an eye for an eye.
Rage and vengeance happens in a spur of the moment in cold blood.
Yah Dan Its the mind rape that happens which as a guy you can tell when a guy is doing it.
Another scene is...
JP has always wanted to adopt a little girl.
So what if JP had adopted a little girl
and he found out.
so what will JP do ?
Also I have always pondered.
It appears the father and his family are Malaysian Chinese
That’s awesome
