- Black Powder Battle Report 15mm American Civil War: Battleof Bristoe Station 14th October 1863.
This week we return to America and the civil war for a game of Black Powder 15mm ACW.
This is our third time playing the game of BlackPowder, so hope tou enjoy this post Gettsburg battle on video.
Watch and see as Georges Union army of the North take to the field to defend the Bristoe Station as they try to locate and destroy the Confederate Southern Army … the battle is set just after the battle of Gettysburg when the Union are trying to deliver the final blow, however the Confederates have had chance to pull together a few battalion’s and are looking for revenge and to give the Union a bloody and final blow.
Another great battle, fantastic board and a few laughs and banter along the way…
…but who will win, watch and see!

Thank you to our Patreons:
Field Marshal Grey Wolf. 👍🏻
This seems like such a gun game and I love the table top
Yes was great fun and George is a laugh to play against… the rules are fairly straightforward and easy to pick up so it makes it easier to just play with the theme.
Thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed it. George and I are hopefully getting another 15mm ACW battle in very soon 👍🏻
Brilliant game fantastic looking terrain 👍👍👍🤠🤠🤠
Thank you, was a great battle and George is a great host with plenty of troops and scenery to make some great battles.
Thank you for the comment and glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Great battle! We stumbled on Bristoe station, as part of our US battle field tour in 2013.We took part in the 150th Gettysburg as re-enactors. its not far from Manassas, at least by car. Bristoe station has a visitor centre, but is a self guided tour with information boards around in key spots. Still enjoyable!
Thats amazing, how fantastic to be able to visit battle fields and revisit history 👍🏻
Thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed the battle report.
Cheers
beautiful terrain and miniatures
Thank you, George has quite an extensive collection for 15mm, so he can put in a good battlefield!
AWI in a few weeks, so that will be something a little different!
Thanks for the comment 👍🏻
What a great (and bloody!) looking game, love the terrain and the armies!👍👍
Yes it was a great and tough battle… I was very lucky with my early maneuvering to get a cohesive line of infantry to advance onto the Union line… tough game right up to the end!
Thanks for the comment.
The post Gettysburg subject is exactly what my channel has had a focus in also ! Bravo !!
Excellent! Thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Excellent! As I said on the AWI video, I am new to Black Powder. What I do like is the abstract casualty system, where it is less about counting the actual number of casualties and more about how combat affects the fighting efficiency of a unit. I quite like that at this scale.
I fully agree, it allows the armies to maintain their large feel and look on the battlefield.
Black powder is a great, fast and fun game and George is a great host 👍🏻
@@theministryofminiatures He absolutely is. Going to watch the rest now!!
Thank you 👍🏻
First off! Gorgeous board, love a channel that leans more into the historical stuff! Small nitpick, not a huge fan of the lens flares over transitions/camera cuts
Thanks for the comment. Glad you enjoyed the channel 👍🏻
Nobody has mentioned the transition before… is it the sound, the flare or both? I use it to show the important transitions along the game, so might have to look at alternatives if others feel the same way.
Thanks
It’s the brightness of it more than anything, to me! Sudden flash of white, and then transition
Thanks for the feedback, there are very limited transitions on the iphone!
Lovely table chaps, have you got a link for that mat? It looks brilliant and I agree with the hills, They look spot on!
Thank you, was a great game.
The mats are by Geekvillain - if you buy one please let them know we sent you over:

Thank you - I certainly will!
@SadDubMinis perfect thank you, we don’t get anything for it, but it might help with us getting some discount, huge thanks 👍🏻
Very interesting. Think I need a set of Black Powder Rules. Did like the disorder etc. markers , where do they come from?
Thanks for the comment, I will have to ask George to update where he got the markers from as they are his.
Thanks again
Nice battle report. I do really like these rules and I am working on my 6mm Adler for the ACW…
Yes the rules are fairly straightforward and allow for quicker games, whilst still feeling balanced. We are doing American War of Independence in a couple of weeks (15mm) so that should be great!
George has 6mm and loves it, certainly good for minimising storage needs 😊😜
Good luck with your project image how many troops you could field at 6mm!
I see 5 is normal size , what do you use for small tiny and large ? great looking games
Hi glad you like it, I believe we use:
3 - Tiny
4 - Small
5 - Normal
6 - Large
They are all Georges figures and terrain so he has a fair collection to use 👍🏻
Wicked battle! Glad you sent those Blue Belly yanks packin' lol.
Really great table and armies! Always look forward to your Black Powder games.
Just for reference here is the rebel yell, you were a little off but A for effort 😂.

Take care!
Haha! I will make sure George gets to listen to it, he did a demo for me… quite amusing 😆
Glad you enjoyed the game, back to Bolt Action this week… but playing AWI Black Powder with George in a few weeks 👍🏻
@@theministryofminiatures I would pay good money to see an attempt 😂
Sounds great! Put my Bolt Action army painting on hold for a while, struggling my way through painting a 28mm Napoleonics Austrian army, safe to say, painting white isn't my favourite thing lol.
Very cool! Love AWI - the Tricorne hats and uniforms look amazing!
I know the feeling! My DAK from last June are still on my work desk!
Stick with it, and just do what you enjoy, hopefully you’ll get the painting mojo back 👍🏻
great game , I now have the rules , for 15mm how do you measure ? use CM , or half the inches ?
Hi and thank you. I use half measurements in inches. I do give Civil war artillery slightly longer ranges. Smoothbores 32" and rifles 40". That is my personal thing only. If you Google you can find QRS already done in half distances. I hope that helps.
Thanks George 👍🏻
Great news, where did you get the rules from if you don’t mind me asking?

@glenbrooks2269 hope you got a good price 👍🏻
Any way you could do a learning game?
Actually that is a pretty good call… if it would be useful I can look at pulling a game together…
…let me check with George 👍🏻
