This might be the most terrifying looking take on the Flatwoods monster I have ever seen. Massive props to Mikey. The part where the monster is looking into the windshield legit made me jump in my seat.
This is weird but. This video is a few minutes old, though your comment is dated 1 day ago. All others are congruous with the video's timeline. How weird, anyone else notice?

Can confirm. I can’t even look at it right now. Whatever the Flatwoods monster is or was it is the stuff of nightmares
Fun fact: Flatwoods Monster is present as a boss in many old retro videogames made in Japan. Something to do with Japanese culture´s fascination with cryptids.
Nice to know! 🙂 (Maybe they think of it as a kami.)
It also makes appearances in anime and manga as well as gashapon toys.
The "Ghosts" that attack Romani Ranch in Majora's Mask are definitely the most well known example.
It's also in Fallout 76, along with the moth man, the grafton monster, snallygasters, wendigis, and more.
And... 15 seconds after I posted, he mentions Fallout... lol
The Flatwoods Monster also appears as a random Easter Egg in Hot Shots Golf Fore.
The original depiction was already nightmare fuel, and your artist took it further beyond

You had Bedtime _and_ Wartime last week 😊
Don't get used to it.
Bedtime Stories always do an episode a week like they use to, then all the sudden they take a hiatus for about a month or more 😂.
It's been kind of a let down lately.
Ever since 2021 things have been happening on this Channel that weren't in the beginning.
I been a subscriber to this Channel ever since the beginning and I have subscribed to this Channel on all of my accounts, so this still one of my go to channels and I still recommend it to everyone I know but I miss the good feeling I used to get every Sunday Morning or Afternoon when they used to drop an episode every week with rarely any fail.
Sometimes they would even drop an extra episode during the middle of the week just out of nowhere and that would really make my week.
I miss the hell out of those days in the beginning like when there was only 4-5 people working on Bedtime Stories back then.
Don't get me wrong, i'm glad they growing and getting more help to work on the channel but I just wished they would have stayed with the same consistency they had in the beginning.

@@BedtimeStoriesChannel I recently learned of the Pensacola Sea Monster incident, could you all cover that at some point? Seems like it would be a good story to have covered on here
I’ve been to Flatwoods WV.. went and looked at the site as best we could since it’s on private property.
There’s a graveyard on a hill near the sight.. the museum in town has a bunch of great stuff in it. And side note, there’s a Bigfoot Museum just down the street from the Flatwoods Monster museum
Practically across the street in terms of distance lol, it’s a very small street.
Even more reason for me to visit at some point :)
The artwork for this one is especially excellent - the interpretation of the monster might be the best I've ever seen.
I literally just made the almost exact same comment before I even read yours!
West Virginian here. So far you've covered the Mothman and the Flatwoods Monster. I can't wait for you to cover the Grafton Monster, that one is the most mysterious of the West Virginia cryptids. There's one that isn't listed, it's a bizarre encounter my sister claims to have had. She claims to have seen a naked man with the head of a horse running through our neck of the woods. This was before those stupid rubber horse heads were a thing, she swore she saw it's mouth move when it neighed.
Don't forget the Harrison county hell hounds!
Don’t forget the MethHeads of Beckley City😁jk😝😘
Sounds like a normal Tuesday evening on Grafton Street in Dublin!
Ya know what's funny, a totally hoaxed cryptid local to me (Port Gamble washington) that was briefly making the rounds (I think it was legit originating from a 'ghost generator' site that just randomly made and assigned ghost stories to any location you put in based on an algorythmic process based on the area name. I.e. port gamble would get the same results, but a slight mispelling would be slightly different, but people passed it around) was basically the same report.
I was wondering where all the mad scientists moved to.

One of my buddies told me a story once while we were both in the Naval Air Force working on the Ronald Reagan. We had struck up a conversation about the paranormal, and he had a few stories to tell. He grew up in rural Arizona on a farm close to a wooded area (I can’t remember where in Arizona he lived). It takes a while to get to his home from the main road, he recounts. His uncle was driving down a long road to get home. It was already getting late, so it was dark out. As he was driving, he noticed, off to the right of the road, a dog lying down. Nothing too strange, right? Well, a few minutes pass by, and he sees the exact same thing: the same brown dog laying in the same position on the right side of the road. He says, “Nope, I’m taking the other way home.” He then proceeds to make a U-turn. The next day, he comes to find out that a little further down the road he was driving on, someone had crashed and died because a dog bolted across. He (friend) says (uncle) he saw a skinwalker that night.
He believes had he passed the same dog the third time, it would have been him that crashed. That's why he turned around the second time he saw the same “dog.”
I believe everything in this world
Yea sure, you worked in the naval air Force 👍

Fallout 76 has been making this guy one of my top cryptids
In the franchise the Faltwoods Monster appears to be one of the, “grey/ green aliens,” in a type of mech suit that allows it to hover.
In the franchise the aliens seem to be observing us for unknown reasons; even before the nuclear war.

Perhaps the Flatwoods Monster was a sort of alien exploratory robot probe.
I think that about a lot of cryptids. Like either real objects or holograms that are exploratory and/or maybe testing human reactions. I especially think the black stick man is some kind of avatar.
@@audreymuzingo933 In this case, a probe sent by aliens. Most other cryptids have to be native Earth creatures.
They are demonic. A born again Christian could have dispatched this entity to the abyss invoking the name of Jesus. There's a site where folks share their encounters with so-called "aliens" that are driven away when they call upon the name of Jesus. Folks that encounter close up UFOs should try it.

Wow, the Flatwoods Monster looks really terrifying in this art. Previous drawings make it look almost adorable. And good point about how some of these things are only brief visitors, while other things like Bigfoot seem to be residing permanently in our world. Great episode!
I still believe "aliens" etc. are Demonic/ more spiritual in nature I am convinced of that these past few years now, the invasive almost rape like abduction experiences. The literal widespread report of literal sulfur smells/ the terror, even a lot of there deceptive messaging is suspicious- often times they will show the abductees images of Earth and go on about how the Earth is dyingggg humans must take care of there planet etc. we want to "help" to. all obvious but very suspiciously deceptively agenda ridden stuff strange an "alien" from outer space would go on a virtue signal speech after literally essentially raping the abductee both physically and spiritually so to speak, I am absolutely convinced they are the remnants of Demonic entities/ are or fallen angels engaging in shenanigans so to speak lol, but yeah I just find this to be far more likely then some Aliens from outer space randomly coming here. Maybe it even explains bigfoot maybe bigfoot is literally left over modern day descendants of the Nephilim offspring after they before the flood allegedly mated with human women and had children who were essentially half human/ half celestial hybrids. Could be 100 percent wrong on all of it most would certainly think so I get it, just what I believe personally.

I've heard about this story & it's always fascinated me.
1 thing I've always wondered & maybe U can help answer since U live near.. are the woods actually flat?
Absolutely not. Flatwoods is the geographical center of the state of West Virginia, The Mountain State. Braxton County is known for steep inclined mountains. When you buy property, you may buy 10 acres but there are 7 on a hillside and probably not usable without massive earth moving equipment.
One of the few channels where even if I have heard a story a thousand times I’ll always watch your take. Your illustrations are inspired. Ah yes, the Flatwoods Monster a classic for sure but almost certainly a misidentification of an owl in very poor sighting and environmental conditions combined with preconceived notions of what they might find. I also must point out they only got the briefest of looks at the creature before they dropped the flashlight and ran. The firey object the boys first saw was undoubtedly a meteor that passed over the area before bouncing back into space. There is astronomical data and observations from astronomers to back this up. It didn't just fool the boys. There were some local law enforcement officers in the area because another local sighted the meteor and thought a plane had gone down. Trey the Explainer has an outstanding video debunking and explaining the Flatwooods Monster.
Trey the Explainer is not a reliable source, as he mostly uses Joe Nickell's explaination for everything (Nickell is not reliable either, because he's so quick to conclusion without doing proper research). The witnesses definitely know what an owl looks like and it's already a fact there's no such thing as a 10 foot owl that farts sulphur. The craft is not a meteor, as if it was, it would've exploded and there should be damages throughout the town. There was also no meteor schedules at that time, yet there were news of UFOs across the country, just that they were forgotten. And the local enforcers were actually soliders who visited the site to keep track of the UFO.
@charliepea alot of what you just said is completely untrue and mostly comes from a civilian saucer investigation group whose reports come across as extremely biased. And yes, it was a meteor. A meteor was indeed observed traveling across the states Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia before skipping off the atmosphere and returning to space. It did not crash and did not explode. That is 100 percent confirmed by astronomical data and observations. Also, Ivan T. Sanderson, a renowned cryptozoologist, also investigated the Flatwoods Monster and interviewed the eyewitnesses as well. He said they disagreed violently on the details of the sighting, and they only got a glimpse of the thing for about 2 seconds before Gene Lemon dropped the flashlight. And yes, there were police officers in the area checking for a plane crash. There are records of that two, a man in a town 10 miles from Flatwoods called it in after seeing the meteor. Only one of the boys reported seeing a bright red light on the ground near the creature. Only Miss May reported seeing anything below the creature's head, including the claws and skirts. The kids were also known to be avid readers of pulp science fiction and comic books. This whole thing can be easily explained by misidentification of a known creature glimpse for only a few seconds in bad conditions combined with hysteria and confirmation bias. Sorry but Joe Nickell is right on this one. Also a lot of the details regarding the creature admitting beams of light and the military running around were added later to the story and not part of the original incident and thus extremely suspect.
@charliepea if you actually read Joe Nickell's books, then you'd realize he actually gets a good deal of his info from Ivan T. Sanderson's investigation. Yes, that Ivan T. Sanderson, the famous cryptozoologist. He also investigated the Flatwoods Monster, interviewed the eyewitnesses, and came away unconvinced. Sanderson noted that the eyewitnesses frequently disagreed on the specifics of the sighting. In fact, only one of the boys reported seeing a pulsing firey object on the ground near the creature. Miss May was the only one who reported seeing anything below the head of the creature, including the claws and skirts. And yes, there was indeed a meteor that night that flew over the States of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia before skipping off the atmosphere and returning to space. There were multiple eyewitnesses to this astronomical event and records to back it up. And yes, there were local law enforcement officers in the area investigating a plane crash. It had been called in by a resident 10 miles away from flatwoods who mistook the meteor for an aircraft that was going down. Local records back this up two. There were a pair of air force officers that investigated the sighting later, but they were undercover as journalists and magazine writers and just went around interviewing people. They concluded that there was really nothing of substantial interest to the military and left.

@charliepea actually, Nickell got a good deal of his information from Ivan T. Sanderson's investigation into the matter. Yes, the famous cryptozoologist investigated the Flatwoods Monster, and he also came away unconvinced. Sanderson noted how the eyewitnesses only got a 2 second look at the supposed creature in poor lighting conditions, and all of them disagreed substantially on the details of the sighting.
