I personally thought he should have held the notes at some performances. I saw him twice on Broadway and his voice always sounds strenuous. It's weird because there's some recordings where he sounds really good, but at most occasions he's just really tired.
when you feel everyone else has seen the Dear Evan Hansen performance live while you're just here with the book and the soundtrack- At first, I didn't think it was possible to cry while reading a book. Boy was I so wrong-
I can relate so much; I was the kid in the middle of nowhere never seeing any shows for so long. That's why when I finally got to move here, I try to video and upload things (that are legal) to at least share something with others who can't get here yet.
Yujin Baek yes you can buy the script on the DEH website dearevanhansengoods.com/products/dear-evan-hansen-script?_pos=1&_sid=f4b4ec677&_ss=r for $20.00 I cried 4 times while reading it...by far the best thing ever!!
I'm working on getting my permit and I literally asked my mom "don't you have to press the brake to start the car" and she said "yeah" and I said "okay because I've been listening to this song and I was like isn't that just how you drive?"
I've watched a couple of the videos from this night and if you pay close attention the music is slightly off, which I think messed with all of them because they all have trouble in different spots. I don't think they could hear it well either
@@evschopp In a lot of aspects its usually hard to surpass the original cast to fans. However, I have seen the Toronto cast twice and I can say with confidence they are up there. They portray their characters on par with OBC, in some cases even better in my opinion. Alessandro as Jared for example, is peak Jared in my opinion. As well as Steph as Zoe and Sean as Connor. My favourite Evan is 100% Andrew B Feldman tho
They weren't being mean they were stating facts either he is like sick or maybe his voice is tired or something because that disconnected from the rest of his singing big time but other than that it was an okay performance. His voice is probably just tired
Tbh from all the belts, the last couple of them sound the best, as he seem a bit more relaxed and you hear the notes flowing through instead of being that forced... but yeah, you can clearly see he's tired. If he has to play Evan multiple times a week + sometimes plays Connor or Jared, I can hardly imagine how much singing he's doing.
Gotta respect him
He didnt give up on the notes but still pulled emotions from them
Good on you man
All the best to you

@@Gamer_Horse interesting.. maybe it was just one of those days so he didn't go for it. thanks for the info 👍

Me too! It's so difficult if you don't live in the right country, but book + soundtrack are both so incredible!
@@jordanmf27 is there a script...?

There are a couple of videos on RUclips with the full performance
we flew to NYC specifically to see MLB, and he was just top notch, as were the other cast members including Mallory, Alex and Sky
Saw him in person and he is good AF 😘😘😘
victor dunson same!
2:00 is when the song starts!
Saw DEH with him as Evan, lottery front row seat matinee winner a year ago to the day today. Truly brought it then
I saw him as Evan last August! He was amazing!
Hannah Brooks Truth
Just look at them in the corner at 4:39
the seven dislikes are ben platt from 7 accounts trying to like it but his phones upside down
He sings the song so simply but with emotion. I love it!
I had him the night I went to see it, loved it! He signed my poster
I fucking love him
Love him he deserves the world. :)) Thanks so much for sharing these videos.
PixieLowe1 You’re very welcome!
I freaking adore the new casting, and love the way he sings the song with so much emotion. ♥️♥️
I love it ❤️. He's so talented!!!!
i love him more than anything on this planet oh my god
I saw him on Broadway as Evan! August 21st 2019.
Hannah Brooks I was also there on the 21st, in the evening ruclips.net/video/psirV6ST_Lo/видео.html
*cries*
Am I the only one who hears the lyric and says inside “right, you do have to push the brake in order to turn the key.”
Detroit Buckeye I think more than a few of us have had that thought! 😆
Detroit Buckeye BTW love your name👍

Anybody with push start has to hit the brake 😂
I love him
He sounds much better live. Maybe it was just the audio here.
4:04 i shrieked
Was he nervous? He was a bit pitchy most of the time.

Personally, I still love the original cast more. Ben Platt will always be Evan Hansen and Mike Faist will always be Connor Murphy to me
Same with Will Rolland as Jarod
@@charitywilliams6088 I didn't mention him because nobody can even come close to Will Roland's Jared
mє It doesn’t matter about the original cast or not, the cast working now still deserves some fucking recognition. They work so damn hard
@@user-kg5jo4cz8g you're definitely right. They're great. They're talented. They deserve more recognition

@ 2:00
He should have just gone up into falsetto at the last few wavings, he’s a great singer but u can tell he’s dying on those notes

Rude_i_Wredne plus the understudies have tons of rehearsals and all of that
Rude_i_Wredne he is PHENOMENAL as Evan. He’s the first one I saw
