I hope the past week or so is a sign that the industry is about to crash. It has needed a reset like that for a very long time. The crash in the 80's saved gaming and I think having a crash today would end a lot of bad practices that have become common place.
If it crashes do we lose devs like fromsoft and games like the Clancy games ?

I probably should have kept my 360 instead of buying a series x, but I have state of decay 2 so it's not that bad.
I'll probably have to buy another pc since the one I gave away isn't up to date of good hardware.
I have my psone, games are more fun and not woke. I just like consoles because they're cool, a small box running games from the matrix like the n64 or gamecube just nostalgia from the 90s to early 2000s.

Dude Microsoft owns Xbox, not Phil. Phil is just a slave of Microsoft. MS is doing the sane thing. Consoles sales were never the cake of the deal, they only put console manufactures into debt on release. They make there money in sales related to software. If you believe Creators of Xbox, Sony or any other companies with console engineering development only make money with software sales. Typically it takes about 4 years to Pau of the manufacturing of consoles and are dependent of software sales to profit. Xbox software sales are way low. Concidering the numbers of game titles on Xbox with no true exclusives, Xbox is profiting 10%!
Would you spend the money to make a mainstream console for the profit of tax money? I wouldn't. 10 won't pay wages little lone a full dev team

You nailed it for Hi-Fi Rush. It's a niche game that is NOT designed for everyone. It targeted a particular audience and hit a home run, as evidenced by its awards and reviews. MS wants games to be for everyone. Wasn't it someone there that said something like when you don't intentionally include everyone, you'll unintentionally exclude everyone. Is this why were shut down?
Both of these studios get to get their crap together. 2 healthy competing companies only means the gamers win in the end.

But the problem is not just about xbox. The whole industry is in bad situation.
I can see new and upcoming games, but there is nothing that I honestly care to play. Most of new projects is all about graphics, buy mechanically poor... When I turn on old 8/16 or 32bit console, most of the time there is no time waste - start and options. After one sec you already playing the game.
AAA blockbuster games first of all needs to work on good mechanics. Cyberpunk 2077 looks super but mechanically junky as hell, and the The Witcher was horrible. Visualy, sound and story wise was great, but the gameplay... After ten years no one will remember that game, but Mitsume Ga Toru (famicom) or Tetris Plus (GB) still be fun to play.
Im on my 3rd playthrough of witcher 3. Maybe you just don't have any timing skills or forethought on how to approach a given monster fight.
@@Moonmonkian I've beaten Wither 3 and all its DLCs. I know how to play it, and sure I don't want to bash on game that you sincerely love. Graphics, music, and story are the best the gaming industry could give to players, but core mechanics could be better, and the very same problems were left in Cyberpunk as well.

Just look at what Microsoft has done once they acquired RARE, all they did was make a really great new Killer Instinct, and released the Rare Replay 50 game hard copy of Rares greatest games and haven't produced anything since!!! I felt like the Activision/Bethesda acquisition was a horrible outcome, and I had friends from both sides of the "console wars" argue that it will breed more competition, but I knew it would be devastating to great studios, and closures would be on the horizon.
