    Holy cow When you put that stop cut under his eye down the side of his nose you could see the water bubble up. You're not kidding that what is wet. Great job.

    Yours is one of the few channels i have discovered that promotes whittling branches and also with a wide range of easily available knives....which is AWESOME! I live in India and don't have access to basswood as well as fancy brand name knives...... I mostly use pine or some other local soft wood species! Anyways just wanted to say thank you & I love the content.....

    Hello, I’m a relatively new subscriber and absolutely love your work! I really appreciate how you emphasize in all your videos the simplicity of whittling. What you said about not being in a competition is spot on. As a novice whittler it’s hard not to get frustrated when following videos like this and the product doesn’t come out as nice as the instructors, but I appreciate the reminder that the goal of this for enjoyment and relaxation. I have a Stoneworks knife my wife bought as an anniversary present that’s similar to what you showed, beautiful knife!
    Question for you regarding your knife. I enjoy the minimalism of being able to use a cheap pocket knife to whittle like what you do. I have followed some of your other videos on cutting and reshaping knife blades. Recently got a rough rider classic carbon swayback whittler that I cut the 2 pen blades into small 1 inch detail blades to try and help me make eyes which is my Achilles heal on faces like this. I was thinking about trying something similar on a Swiss Army knife because that’s my EDC. I know you have a RR classic carbon knife and wondered if you notice a difference in how that steel holds up and sharpens compared to stainless like what the SAK has?
    Thanks again for your videos and work! Big fan 👍

      Thank you very much for the kind words! Yes the Stonework knives are very nice!
      I have a few Swiss Army knives. The stainless steel holds up better, but it is much more of a challenge getting it sharpened compared to the higher carbon content steel knives. I like the Swiss Knives for general use, but do not really use them too much for whittling - although I have done a whittling video using one.
      Stay well my friend!

    I'm curious about the size of knives. Mine generally have a small blade between 1.5" and 1.75" long and a long blade between 2" and 2.5" and closed length of about 3.25". Is that in the ballpark regarding a good sized knife?

    • @WhittlingWoods
      @WhittlingWoods  6 месяцев назад +1

      The knife I am using in the video has 3 blades; the longest is 2", the small blade I use is only 1" (it was longer ~1.5" but I cut it down a bit). In general I like to work with 1-2" knives. Closed the knife is 3.5". 👍✌
