Yes you must install direct x
You should change the resolution to 800 600 by the "options.ini" which in : documents/command and conquer generals zero hour.

@@engineerconagher9466 then you have to download the code from another videos and create the "options.ini" by yourself , just search in RUclips about "options.ini generals"

Open system folder on the right up in the search graph search for generals and wait it will appear for you by files

How do i fix Please make sure you have DirectX 8,1 or higher installed. Also verify that your video card meets the minimum requriements. I have played the game before but now it doesnt work. I tried running it as a administration but it doesnt work. Please make a video about this.

Hello. I got this to work for regular Generals but I have a different issue with Zero Hour. It starts up but immediately closes with no error message. Do you know any fix perhaps?
Edit: I was missing some prerequisite files needed, not sure which though. I just installed everything that could possibly be the reason. Works now. Thank you.

Having the same issue. Regular Generals works fine without even needing admin access but Zero Hours closes immediately at launch. Been on it 7hrs now with no joy. I've tried several different options.ini settings and compatibility mode settings but nothing works. What did you install?
