- In this video, we are catching bluegill the size of dinner plates. We are bluegill fishing with live crickets under a bobber, we are using the slip cork to fish deeper water for these bluegill. We are hovering live crickets over the top of these GIANT bluegill beds, and these bluegill can't resist. This video is a great example on how to fish with crickets for bluegill. We found most of our bluegill beds in or around 10' of water on this trip. Bluegill fishing Texas has some of the best bluegill fishing in the country, and this video is proof of that. Trying to catch up on my video watching. I have been camping on Cooper Lake for a week. We wore out them white bass and hybrids. I know we caught well over a thousand. I don't keep any though. I don't like how they taste. Lol.

@@903fishing Yea we were catching White bass. There were schools 100 yds. long in places rolling the top of the water during the middle of the day. I just could not get the crappie to cooperate with me. Cooper never does me right with crappie. Just does not seem to be a good crappie lake, but it is a great white bass, hybrid and catfish lake. I go catch my crappie on Lake Bob Sandlin or Lake Cypress Springs. That is my favorite places and where I usually go.

Wow! That's some super bream. Those are big enough to fillet like crappie. Can you explain this to me? Are those techincally "blue gills", or sub-species of blue gill, or another specie of bream that is commonly referred to as blue gill? For a number of years, I only fished for bream/blue gill/sunfish (flyrod and popping bugs). But, I can't recall ever seeing any with the vertical stripes (similar to crappie) nor with the yellow head band. Just a curiosity that maybe you or another subscriber can explain. Anyway, I would have enjoyed catching and eating some of those big boys!
These are full blood coppernose bluegill. Now they will cross breed of course, but these are coppernose. They are known to get big in the right environment. Thanks for watching! God bless

Hey fellas, watched your video catching those plate sized blue gills. As I was watching I wondered how many females with eggs you both kept? There wasn't any mention of females full of eggs during the catch because I noticed some females with large stomachs and males spewing liquids. Did you release the females at all❓
We didn’t see any fish with eggs. If I would have I would have put them back. I would say 90% of these were males protecting fry. Either way, millions of them in the lake. Thanks for watching! God bless

I never fished blue gill with cricket before. So my question is do you prefer worms or crickets when blue gill fishing?
Down south NC we use crickets and when we run out we catch grasshoppers on the banks in the grass to catch blue gills as well
Definitely crickets. But I only recommend using crickets for your bigger bluegill. Because if you don’t catch the bluegill, you have to put on a new cricket. There are pros and cons to both. But for these giants I prefer crickets. My last video here, they wouldn’t even touch a worm for some reason. Thanks for watching! God bless

I watched this early, but I didn’t put in a comment. All I have to say is, the boat wasn’t big enough for me to. It’s been many many years since I been bluegill fishing 57 years to be a fact, but I love watching you put them in the boat. I will be coming a channel member in July, just planning out my money since I’m on a fixed income and I have a upcoming family reunion on the 23rd which is in two weeks. Got behind on videos but watched all of them definitely some monsters, don't care where or how they are caught when you get them bullgills and put numbers in the boat or bucket ect.... you are killing it my guy. If you keep thousands and they are getting eaten and not wasted no harm done. Plus you always follow regulations. Remember haters are motivators.
