I like that your points of veiw included the current negatives but included the disclaimer that you know it's a Alpha and the current issues will hopefully get better. I've been testing it as well mostly solo'ing doing gathering and occasionaly grouping to kill mobs. I haven't been this excited about a game in a long time can't wait till they start adding everything else.
I didn't want to rush to 25, so I'm 17 Ranger. Doing Cooking, Fishing, Farming, Lumberjacking, Harvesting(?) herbs. The Farming was hard to level fast and required the wood, droppings, herbs, town citizenship and fishing. All of the droppings that I vendored were now needed. I needed lvl 10 fishing to use Salmon. Milk was a farming recipe and raises mana cap and mana regen. To get milk I needed to raise a calf to a cow and be lvl 10 Farmer. The value of some crafting isn't much at low levels but for a level +20 it's really good. So instead of reaching 25 I went for the sideways progression.
How do you feel about the fluidity of character movement? WoW is the gold standard for movement in my opinion, everything is responsive and responds exactly as you would expect.
so the movement is part of what i look at when it comes to combat, i think it feels great where its at and it will only get better. u can do the "adadadadadadadadadadadadadadad" thing like in wow to move ur char side to side and it feels just as good in this game, as it does in wow. come by livestream on friday and tell me to do that and i will show u lol
yeah Phase one is about server stability, anything outside of the scope of phase one is gravy. Phase two will have a bit more of what you're looking for, but still questing might not be there. It's an Alpha. Phase three will get even more content and be a lot closer to what everyone wants to see, but it's still an Alpha. Beta One and Beta Two will be much more polished and more like the finished game, some people should wait until then to make any real decisions about how bad or good the game is. Right now it's a wait and see, but from what I've seen, the direction is great and the intent is amazing. Combat is fantastic for an Alpha, can only go up from here. Lvl 17 Bard, Lvl 9 Cleric, Lvl 8 Tank. I've a few hours in game.
Devs said part of the leveling being the pace that it is is from the lack of depth on their non-combat systems. A lot of the puddling around you may have done on other systems is going to be part of the leveling experience, like that one afternoon I spent just doing WoW's hot vs cold Archaeology system and leveled out of multiple zones without doing any of their local quests. I'm curious how much story will be available or even attempted within game. Like, on a scale from FFXIV to Albion Online, where are we putting the pin? Time will tell.
great comment man, thank you. I am super excited to see how the story arc system plays out. I think that will def add more depth to the leveling system.
I LOVE it. Feel like this is stuff that is sooo missing from wow. Community. Not just porting around from giant floating exclamation points getting random gear dumped on you that means nothing.
@@CoStarkLIVE It's already an incredibly niche game with intentional throwback mechanics like no fast travel. insane lvling times + many more things that once the honeymoon phase is over, most people will drop back to mmo's they've been trained to enjoy for so long due to quality of life additions. I hope i'm wrong but Steven has directly said he wants it to be a niche game.
I haven't played it, but Steven seems to be a somewhat enthusiastic mmo fan. Sadly the visuals are a turn off for me because I like wow stylized games more. This type of graphics get old quick and also are no pro point in terms of optimization. Npc's and players teleporting should be top prio to fix before launch.
can you elaborate more on the stylized aspect of this? I hear this same thing from many others in the genre. HOW could this be stylized? can you give me an example that doesn't necessarily describe WOW?
@@CoStarkLIVE there aren't many but I would generally say anything that doesn't try to be too realistic and more comic. ESO has a more cartoony vibe, Albion Online goes the same. Basically every game where style is put above realistic graphics. That gets boring quick. When I look at WoW today I can still enjoy it because it has its own style whereas game like guild wars, metin, archeage and so on have aged badly.
Nah, this game looks dead on arrival to me. Developers tried to recreate ArcheAge feeling since Steven was a big ArcheAge player but it just feels like a worse ArcheAge and the game looks clunky af, it just looks like a game from 2018 who got delayed so much that it feels outdated nowadays, they are also making the game so niche to the point where there probably won't be any PvE at all to keep the playerbase alive (I'm a PvP player myself and don't really care much about PvE but you need a good middle ground to keep the PvErs and casuals in, otherwise the game just dies, like ArcheAge). The fact that the game is heavily dependent on guilds is also a big red flag, there will be zergs of shitters who couldn't even get past 1500 rating in WoW bragging about being le skilled PvPers while they are just no-skill monkeys, on top of it it's a sub based game, which will have waaaay less pop than WoW. At this point I'm just waiting for Riot MMO or ArcheAge 2.
thanks for sharing your feedback man. although i don't agree with you, these are definitely things that raise awareness to myself as well. all i can do is hope for the best. i KNOW this is a gamble, but i have been burned by SO many developers and publishers soooo many times in the last 2 decades that all i can do is give the best feedback to Intrepid Studios and pray they come thru.
That is such an ignorant WOW Andy take. You don't actually know what you are talking about. And you surely haven't "played" Ashes yet. You don't have enough info yet to form a valid opinion. One thing I know for sure, you will all be playing AOC once it releases!

i dont wanna become someone who only praises the game. I love this game so far, but there are some things that need improvements on.

in my opinion, Ashes of Creation looks good, it has that old school MMO vibe to it which I like a lot
hope they keep going in the direction theyre currently going in. i dont want it to become a niche game where playerbase falls off.
