    the blink skip is replicatable by spam jumping to ''gain momentum'' and on either the second you jump or just before you hit the ground again and you blink you can send yourself flying, my record is from the top of lionhold bridge and around 300 meters toward the cookhouse, you also carry that momentum after you hit the ground so you can bunny hop like in counter strike even further if its on flat ground or downhill

      Anytime you jump off of something, you get extra distance with Blink. If you combine that with water below you, it seems to send you even further distance. I'll have to try this jump blink technique and see if I can perfect it. But yeah, I'm sure this will get fixed at some point...but this Alpha after all and many, many bugs or exploits are currently present.

    If you Jump after blinking and dont have any ground to stop you then you will go flying. Its really fun. Mage had the advantage because you were downhill. He probably did that on purpose

    Gear is INCREDIBLY important. Even more important than level. If you had a level 20 with grey gear and a level 5 with legendary gear the level 5 will win. It scales as hard as the star system for enemies where a legendary (5 star) level 15 has 650k HP for instance. Where a level 15 1 star might have 3k HP. It's impossible to test balance with classes without having equal or close to equal gear as the gear makes WAY more difference than anything else you can do.

      That should not be the case btw. Feels very bad and makes alt leveling a breeze, and new players fighting players that are leveling alts will be very unfair. Hopefully they hot the balancing before phase 3.

      @@HalIOfFamer true, also means people with an actual life will not be able to partic. in pvp, since they most likely wont have as good gear as the hard grinder.
      and i hate not being able to win by skill but just to get outscaled by stats.
      actually what new world did was kinda fun (obvsl. for those no life grinders it wasnt) --> balancing by nerfing the higher lvls dmg to the lower lvl dmg, so basically no matter what lvl difference (gear wasnt soo important in pvp) a low lvl could outskill and this kill a higher lvl. also it was action combat so you actually needed skill with aiming if played range.
      but all these jobless boomers dont want a skillfull matchup and rely on their nonstop grind to outscale other players. they would go crazy if the pvp was actually skillbased and prob. quit calling it a trash game bc. they are unskilled boomers xd.

      The jump in power from gear quality (green/blue/yellow/purple/orange) is absolutely nuts right now. I wonder if it'll stay tuned that way.

      @@ZapatosVibes It'll get pulled back some, I really hope not much though. I love the rarity of loot, and how if you're equipped properly via gameplay you can overcome so much. It's one of those old school MMO experiences where if you're a level 50 equipped with legendary gear you should feel like a god compared to someone with greens/blues.
      Alas Steven has stated that at level 50 your power should be comprised of 50% your level and 50% your gear. So we won't get to the levels that I'd like, but that's ok :)
      I'd like to see the experience show that if someone has conquered the hardest of the hard things and there's a group of equal level 50s, let's say 5, with gray gear I'd like the guy with all the legendaries to be able to be Incredibly difficult to kill by those 5 folks who've earned nothing gear wise.

      @@martialis2974 tbf the new world solution is dog shit as well. Spending time in a game should make you stronger if the stat disparity is large. If you want skill based matchup pvp go play a MOBA game.
      What I meant Is that a lvl 1 with legendary gear should still get absolutely dumpstered by a lvl 5 and a lvl 10 should legit just 1shot them even with all white gear.
      Imo legendary gear should not outright give better stats but have special effects like in PoE. Unique is not always the best in slot item and rare often has better raw stats but a unique item will have a passive that enables a specific build. For example an item in POE called "tabula rasa" is a piece of armor with 0 stats, it's like you are wearing no armor at all in that location, in this case chest. But it allows you to have a lvl 1 6linked spell skill which is ordinarily only possible from endgame level gear.
      So a huge tradeoff, protection for DPS.
      Also on the side note, most of this games potential playerbase, judging from the streamers that showcase it aren't jobless boomers, grappler here is a shredded gym enjoyer, past his prime but still very good physique. RitchieSH has like 15 kids, a job and still plays this. Pirate software literally worked on security for the government, game dev and now is probably a millionaire with his own animal shelter. And These are the people who nolifed the game the most. MMO community in the west ain't the neckbearded losers that they were in early 2000s.

    I'd say rangers would get a lot stronger in straight 1v1s like this if they had a way to quick cast Snipe, like by meeting an specific condition such as rooting the opponent with the trap or via using a mark. The problem is, it would make the class way stronger when ambushing and rangers are already the best ambushers because of camouflage.

      For me, as things stand, a ranger has to disengage, run away, and then re-engage on his terms.

    Given how much a single gear upgrade increases damage by quite a lot (and we havent seen anything yet with how godly the epic/legendary crafted gear is), I feel like burst is going to be pretty nuts. Going to be interesting to see if armor/resist follows suits.

    The blink is physics based. So if you block off a ledge it doesn't just make you a short distance it launches you across the map

    Lil QoL: Unless you are training your aim, you can press spacebar to start/pause VLC (or most video players) :p
    It's good however that they need to get close for that, unlikely to happen in group play with tank/fighter around since the game isn't balanced for 1v1 anyways

    Btw it's possible to near insta-kill with mage in terms of time to kill someone. The combo is relatively simple and if you get Slumber off you're pretty much guaranteed the win. Slumber - Hoarfrost - insta cone of cold - near insta cast Lightning Strike (doesn't matter if you CC break the freeze or not, lightning will insta proc 400% dmg anyway with 100% from near insta cast and 300% from shatter which only requires you to be recently frozen) - blink - insta cast Frostbolt from blink passive (250% + 150% for another 400% insta hit) - 3x 150% insta cast Firebolt with a finishing touch of 125% combust into conflagrate or prismatic beam if you're in melee.
    So in total about 1375% damage in the spam of about 4 seconds or so.

      Although you can cc break the sleep; and then be immune to the chill/freeze for 8 seconds

      Why not Slumber - frostbolt (prefer to use the cast time here over hoarfrost which is instant cast) - cone of cold, instant lightning strike (doesn't have to be instant if they're not a cleric/bard I'd think, full charge after dodging past frozen target and LOS them), blink to instant cast Fireball which gets you way more damage & with fuse, then combust and prismatic beam. Assuming you've tried these different rotations out

    Currently blink increases movement speed until you "land", which can be clipped by jumping right after and having a very far bunny hop essentially. As the servers lack the "sync" here that's how it looks for you he gets very far.

    I noticed the same thing with blink, if you go from downhill blink, it just takes to all the way down, in halls of judication, I could blink from the mid main hall to all the way out to the ember shrine with just 1 blink. def felt like unintended and way too long of a blink.

    This could also be one of the rock paper scissors scenarios for ranger. Maybe mage is naturally good against him but will struggle with tank or fighter because he can't burst them down but ranger is nimble and can root and break cc so he might be good against the mele classes.

    I think this is a pretty fair analysis! Especially the last part when you were up against the wall. Like, CAN you escape if you play it frame perfect and also manage to predict his movement? Maybe. But it’s just a scuffed situation you don’t wanna be in lol.
    Btw no chance you need any animation work that you can use for your AoC content? Intro, ending screen, character animation etc? I’m good at it and would love to help

    A couple of my guildies and I were trying to kill a caravan, which if you didn't know is not easy to do with only 3 people who are all lvl 10 or lower, and we got jumped by two players who were both a couple levels higher than us. I was a lvl 8 Mage and I was with a lvl 10 Fighter and lvl 9 (I think) Bard. The two attacking were both lvl 12 Fighters. They came in and went right for our Bard and Fighter. Both of my teammates kited/attacked them, and I burned them down fast. Because the caravan moves so slowly, and it has a bazillion HP's, they respawned and came back for more. They made the same exact mistake of not going after me first and it ended with the same result. I got a sweet Goblin mask from one of them!
    Is the Mage OP? I personally don't think so because the Devs have said it many times how the classes are supposed to work with or against each other.....they should support/counter and be weak vs each other in different ways. I can't solo as well as some other classes in PvE, too darn squishy and once that protective bubble wears off and your blink is on reset, you are a sitting duck. The 1vs1 aspect is pretty strong vs players of near equal level.....IF you have the right spells prepped. If I have my big damage spells prepared and a player jumps me, I'm toast, they simply take far too long to cast. But if I'm with a group with those same spells loaded, and you don't target me right away, you are going to die very quickly.
    Now he's fighting a Mage that has a couple spells I haven't gotten yet, mainly that death beam, but the rest of it I use all the time when solo'ing.

    1. You’ve been caught auto firing which is making the ability to kite not work 2. 1v1 imo a ranger can’t really beat a mage , the Magee aren’t even using the best blink which can be followed up by various skills such as a full cast lightning strike/frostbolt/fireball instant cast, follow some firebolt, conflagration and flamethrower etc dead every time (plus pre shell for defense), ranger is the class for running away atm

      Maybe it would be slightly different with ranger getting his silence to work, but I doubt it. I think ranger needs to basically run away, then sneak up invisible and open with snipe. If rangers opens with snipe on mage freely, I think he wins most of the time.

    That auto attack bug happens to me too on my mage. It fires two attacks then stops. Not sure what's going on. I have auto attack activation on

    mage is op af, i think fighter will be the one to watch for mages. i played fighter all weekend, and it felt good against the mage i fought, high burst and the fighter can stayed stuck to the mage. and then once the mage runs the bleeds start taking there toll. however we were lvl 15 not max lvl.

      Just curious, do you experience alot of pvp in the game? I got ganked two times as soon as I created my character but since then I've seen zero pvp, not even among other players. At least ingame. I of course saw the Asmongold disaster and other streamers generally pvp'ing but still

      @@Goji_Bear not much, just a few fights. i dont think alot of player care about engaging in open world pvp. for instance i enjoy open world pvp, (if its a fair fight both ways) however if i wanted to in AoC i had to go looking for it. and i am ok with that.

    isnt the beam slow in rotating? so couldnt you jump over him the moment he casts his beam so you stand behind is casting direction and he cant hit you anymore?

    Doesnt help mages seem to be overtuned dmg value wise compared to rangers like there basic instant fireball skill does 450% dmg compared to 400% off snipe and has half the cooldown and mana cost :P

    The mage seems what mages do, up close if not tanky ur dead if ur far away outrange him u win ranger should win by range not by dps where mage is the opposite.

      Everything is bugged. We’re simulating what to expect from randoms we find in open world. For that reason, I’m fine with it; as I’m learning what to play around.
      But yes, hopefully bugs are fixed soon.

      he has no magic resist. The talents are still heavily WiP. Ranger is generally undertuned rn. he's effectively standing still lets be honest

      To be fair mage had no business blinking this distance. Also he is 3 levels down and worse gear. In throne and liberty I've been killed with 1 ability with a disadvantage like this. Here he survived 2 or 3 casts before having to call it off.
      Also game is balanced around full group fights so 8v8 and Steven has stated that he is willing to sacrifice 1v1 and raid vs raid balance for this.

    If he doesn't have you frozen, the lightning bolt wont crit for too too much more than the firebolt crit--maybe 300-500 more at most. Frost bolt is a bit slow to be viable in a 1v1 with someone who is keeping range very well. At max range, mages will likely have a 4-5 "burst combo" if max range is kept, 2 firebolts, conflag, cheap bolt. Our biggest damage requires us to have like 3-5s breathing room in order to run 2 bolts, 1 conflag, 1 ice bolt, 1 full bolt for shatter. Kinda need to bait out the shell too. (thoughts from a 16 mage).

      Even as a cleric it is pretty damaging when you get burning/conflagrating going, by speccing your wand into burning and then throwing a smite. Train your nice mana buff, and with your heals you turn into an energizer bunny. I might try out a mage next week-end, but I am going to miss the 100% uptime.
